Lovely install, the only issue I can see coming up in future is the Fuse Head being TNS tar paper. It's going to be a pain if it ever needs replacement (often after installation of electric showers or EV chargers they show signs of overheating). DNO will want someone to remove the gas meter, sadly there's not much you can do about it with under stair cupboards, eventually they'll move the meters to outside as they continue upgrading the national supply.

I’d genuinely love to do a van tour, but when i used to show the back of my van on instagram, i’d coincidentally (or not) have someone try and break into my van so i stopped doing it

Thanks mate! I’d honestly love to do one but i’ve tried to limit showing the back of my van as when i used to do that on instagram i’d have several attempts of people breaking in the van in the following days 😞

I had a feeling you were going to say this! Completely understand! I’ve had exactly the same from what I have seen my van looks like it’s set up pretty similar to yours. Just wanted to know what you’ve used to attach things to the bulk head? Cheers mate looking forward to your next video!

@@glisterservices yes mate I agree that stuff is mental! What was it you actually stuck to the bulkhead though.. hooks or something? Anything you can recommend? Cheers

Looks nice bud. 👌 What make is that softener? Missus fancies me fitting one. I'll probably put softened water into the kitchen tap as well with a bypass. I know it's not recommend in the regs but the whole point is to stop descaling stuff.

Also definitely don’t put the drinking mains water on the softener, If you want to do something for the kitchen tap then fit one of these amzn.to/48hLrib and have the rest of the house on a water softener

We’ve done ours that the whole house is softened so we drink the softened water. It’s fine mate and the cups of tea are the best with softened water

@@copperskills3973 I understand its not recommended in regs even if your water hardness is under 400 due to slightly elevated sodium content, but we all try to stay healthy regards adding salt to anything so i think we'll be ok. If i ever moved id change the pipework to mains for the kitchen tap as you dont know who after you would have health issues.

They literally both terminate into a stand pipe?

@@glisterservices see this a lot! But it’s not a fixed air break, you can get a proper air break fitting that solvent welds into a standpipe that maintains a gap that cannot be contaminated.

When I install a combi to replace a cylinder systemthe combi sysem is of course under pressure so I do all the pipework in the old airing cupboard in 15mm - often Speedfit as its so much easier and MUCH cheaper than 28mm copper pipe and fittings.!! I bet the soldering of the gas at the back of the cupboards was not good for your back either!!

Are shock arrestors a must have item now? If so why? If you have one here on the incoming mains, and your boiler is lets say upstairs on the other side of the house, would you fit an additional one near the boiler as well? Thanks in advance.

I believe it’s because most combi boilers now have plastic manifolds which can pin hole or split under expansion and contraction, usually the mains would take up this expansion but most are fitted with water meters and back flow prevention now. Not sure on distances though.

They’re certainly not a must have item, and Vaillant don’t actually require a shock arrestor like other boiler manufacturers, but when doing the work i did under there its so easy to install one and will just cover you for any future problems.
