TravelingTravis V haha perfect timing!!! Best of luck with your build. If you have any questions let me know! One thing I didn’t mention in the video is you could get a water mixer with a gate valve on the mixer itself instead of using ball valves (you could also do both which is probably the best approach)... I struggled to find a mixer only for a shower (I know I could have put a stopper on one that has a line for a tub) with gate valves built into it though!

Key Kevin! Awesome build videos I'm surprised to see your view counts aren't higher. You're one of the few people I've come across that uses steel stud framing for their shower and their entire van. I've been thinking of doing steel studs for our shower to increase strength and save on weight but there aren't a ton of resources out there on this. I just had a couple questions if you don't mind. First, I noticed you added in some of those smaller pieces in the back corners so the backer board had something to screw into what was your process like for getting those attached to the other studs? Do you have any general recommendations for building out the shower in steel studs?

Hey Jason appreciate the comments, hopefully we’ll see more views in the future! I would definitely use the 2 inch wide steel studs vs the 3 inch, but using a clamp to secure the two studs together when screwing them together will helpII. I also jigged up 2 socket wrenches to prevent the studs from bending which worked well. You will definitely want to put in the smaller filler pieces for the backer board, I then filled that with a small piece of wood before installing the backer board (video should be out in 2 weeks or so covering that). Hey if by walls you mean the steel stud framing we got them from Home Depot. I’m not exactly sure yet what we’re going to use for the bathroom walls, Taylor wants tile in the bathroom so I’m still thinking

I've watched all 3 pluming vids a couple of times and realize the probable reason for your framing and shower pan location. This location really really messes with my inside layout/floor plan majorly. Do you think I HAVE to make the drain hole on the shower pan exactly going down to through the van? Or do you believe it is feasible to divert the water to a different (convenient) hole under the van? Thanks so much for any input.

I mean if you can divert it and that works best for you then I don’t see an issue. You could also get a drain pain the has the hole on the left instead of the right.

You also don't have to buy a store bought shower pan. You could customize your own. Rj tilly plumbing worked for them use a lead made shower pan any size. Fix all concrete used vinyl and or tile. Could use 2 by 4 also for any frame layout. Just saying many options not shown in a lot of videos that are professional done.

In a real building they wouldnt let us run those lines close together. The studs would be punched out with a stud punch. Pipes would run through plastic hold rite isolators whatever you call them insulated it also fiberglass or rubber. The stud mans wall frame wouldnt pass because of structural deficits. But i realize this is just a van build no criticism really. Of course i mainly use copper in my runs for commercial. Now they use a lot of crimp tools so not to get fire permits.
