Once upon a time my curly hair was so beyond low maintenance. I could shampoo, condition, throw some mousse on and go. My hair looked fab all the time. Now no matter what I do now, my hair looks like crap.. I don’t know why curly hair requires so much time and patience, both of which I don’t have anymore lol Your hair looks great!

To be honest I haven't even tried a nice one lol I found one at my local dollar tree and decided to give it a shot, for a buck why not lol. But I'm hooked now, I've stuck with the dollar store so far but I dont like the elastic band on it, I would prefer a covered band. The more I keep up with it though the better my hair has gotten.

if your hair is low in protein, i have heard that making brown rice water and applying it to your hair once a month (letting it sit on your hair for 15 minutes, then rinsing it out) can be good for that. i would suggest greenbeautys video.

For root curl, comb all of your hair back (ik it sounds stupid but it works) after the shower, then flip your hair over upside down and keep scrunching up to the root, flip back up and wait for ur hair to set and start diffusing (keep flipping your hair while diffusing too)

This was a really helpful video for someone who is completely terrible with hair. I have wavy hair. And I've always just brushed it out and then lamented why my hair always is a frizzy mess. I want to actually make my hair nice. And not something I eternally hate. I doubt mine will ever be this curly or nice as it's just wavy. But if my hair could just be non-frizzy and decent, I would be so psyched. As it is, for years it's just been this thick, extremely frizzy mess. It has done whatever it likes. Which usually means some parts dry in obvious waves, rarely a very loose curl, and other parts are straight or just slightly off being straight. Looks so bad haha

My clumps look just like that when I plop, but my hair is 2a after it dries. It’s amazing what good products can do. I have to use whatever hair products the rest of my straight haired family uses (my dad’s hair is really short, but you can tell it curls, and my mom has pin straight Asian hair. I have my dad’s fluffy frizz and everyone else has my mom’s silky smooth hair) and it’s the cheapest drugstore shampoo and conditioner with sulphates and silicons topped with the gel the guys use to style their hair (no other creams or oils and no diffuser, just air drying). So I usually end up brushing it straight when it’s wet and it dries at a 1c, but it’s manageable. If I use the available products it ends up hard and crusty and feels itchy at night so I can’t sleep. I’m going to need to save up money to buy myself some good hair products, but I don’t want to waste it on something too expensive that will run out before I can save up enough to get more.

I hope i can find those products here in the Philippines. Curly ladies here tend to have their hair rebonded. Somehow, having long and straight hair is still a beauty standard here. I stopped rebonding mine 4 years ago been trying to use sufate and paraben free hair products which is really hard to find here. My hair is still a mess. And I just want to get a rebond again and cut it short.

Omg. You’re genius. I have done all this but I didn’t realize that I was squishing hair too much. I keep going until the clumps separate- but I was copying what I watched. Then I squeeze the heck out of my hair w a shirt trying to get water out.. I heard pixie diffusing was bad bc it goes against cuticle. How do you not get frizzy???

Will have to give this a go...unfortunately, the shopping option is no longer and I couldn't make out all of the products. EDIT: Used the first method with my own products. I'm mostly a fan! I don't have your lovely 7 clumps that turn into "juicy" curls...I have 30 clumps so I still have my kinky coily hair... :( The only "problem" I ran into was how much longer it takes to dry hair in bigger clumps. (Yes, even my multiple clumps were a bit plumper/fewer in numbers than usual!) At the end of it, my kinky waves were a bit less kinky and my tighter coily ends were a bit looser. This is a big improvement. It was a bit frizzy but I think that's a more of a reflection on my new gel, Maui Curl Quench, that is just way too sticky so it pulls out my ends, and it pretty much disappears without a cast. Luckily I have a ton of curl definition, even on a bad day.

Love that this video came around just in time for wash day! And I'm already pretty close to this method, but I'm hoping this will help me get the good good curls especially in the back. Is the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner a protein heavy one? I have to do gelatin masks every month or so to get protein back into my hair and I'd love if that combo is almost like a slow Olaplex protein treatment instead 😅😅

Gorgeous hair! My hair has only a slight natural wave. Would this still work to make curls?

Thank you!! I would definitely give it a try! I recommend Curly Magic Gel from Uncle Funky’s Daughter to encourage curls to form. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻❤️

@@typeofbeautiful4703 Okay so it went pretty well. Now that I’ve tried it, there are a couple things that I’d do different. For example, I still had some curls go frizzy and flat in the back so I think I needed to use a bit more product than I did the first time. Also my hair is fairly long and it took me over an hour to diffuse it so maybe I didn’t get enough of the water out in the beginning steps? But over all, the process worked! I got those spiraling curls. And I usually don’t get many nicely formed curls because my head turns into a frizzy mess. So this was way better! Thank you.

very helpful video. a few questions--how do you know which direction to finger curl your curls? i am not sure i'm curling them the right way! also--what do you do if you don't use a hairdryer/diffuser? i don't like to use heat on my hair.

My clumps look just like yours and then my results are sooo hit and miss. Sometimes I get defined ringlets in a lot of places, sometimes I SOTC and I have vintage waves and sometimes it’s just a hot mess. Does this change with time? I know every wash day can be different but I would love somewhat predictable results. 😅

MARYAM N Alllll of the sympathy to you. 💕 It definitely didn’t last all day. I’m am struggling so bad with my protein/moisture balance. I feel like maybe today my clumps were TOO big so the products didn’t really coat all of my hair enough to get lasting results.

@@tuesdaynyx yeah it def is tough. I have finer strands of hair and what's been working so far for me is staying away from products with glycerin, or using products lower amounts of it. also putting on a gel with some moisture and protein right after I get out of the shower, plopping, then following up with a mousse to rehydrate/clump my hair a bit more has weirdly been woking for me? I kind of did this accidentally but it gave me nice results. I use the olive oil ecostyler gel, and the dippity do mousse. I also recently bough the shea moisture deep conditioner mask with protein in it as well (Manuka honey and yogurt line) and it seemed to add some much needed protein to my hair without being too much. goodlluck !!
