Thank you! We have fluffy cruisers in our family. Carnival does have a limited number of bench seats on some ships that accommodate fluffy cruisers, but often slim people will occupy these seats, not realizing that by doing so they are preventing fluffy cruisers from enjoying the venue.

I used to be 386 lbs. I'm down to 190. I still see the big girl in me. I remember so well the days of flying, and people staring wondering if the seat belt would make it around me. I also remember being on rides and laughed at when I couldn't fit. Thank you for being kind and informative, because although I am not as fluffy, I still feel the struggle mentally

I would also advise whatever size you are to cross pack with your travel partner 50/50 on all clothes, dress shoes etc. This way if a suitcase gets lost you'll still have some clothes. Is really hard to get replacement clothes no matter what size you are. It happens!

Hi Tony my name is Eli and Recently, after many wanderings and inquiries in search of the first cruise, I also became acquainted with your wonderful channel. And yet I feel a strong need to thank you and cherish you a lot of love following a series of your videos that I watched recently and I wanted to point out that your honesty and the way you express things touched my heart. And I feel a certain shared destiny with the issues you raised since I am married to a partner with a large body and me myself are not counsider as a tiny. and while I adore her and love every centimeter of her body I am awake and aware of facing the accompanying difficulties and the prejudices of the environment that accompany her and us throughout our life together and despite the difficulties and limitations that sometimes arise. And yet I love her so much and I wouldn't want her to change or be different even for a moment unless she wants to. Your spoken word video is full of inspiration and good advice and I have no words to express the excitement and gratitude that followed. I hope you will continue to create and produce interesting and entertaining content and as in the sea, so too in life sometimes there are storms or bad people and we have to steer towards the bright and safe horizon. Thank you very much my dear.

The sky ride bikes on the carnival ships have a 250lb weight limit! Online it said 300lb but it was 250lb on board. I was extremely disappointed and couldn’t ride them :( but needless to say I’ve been on a diet ever since I got home so next time I can ride them!! Still got 20lbs to go (25lbs down) and they have been my main motivation.

One of your best videos! So helpful to many, including myself, who is a fluffy cruiser(19 cruises). Some of my tricks have been to choose aisle seat on plane in main cabin and once in air, raise aisle arm rest, actually move furniture a little in hotel rooms of cabins to give more room between bed and wall, go to lunch when first opens so can choose optimal seating, and choose cruise cabins that optimize distances to places I frequent the most.

Thank you for such an informative video. I wish I had known these things before my first cruise, almost a decade ago. I am a fluffy cruiser who is also disabled, due to an automobile accident. I realized you have to enjoy things whenever you get the chance, rather than waiting until "someday." I am ambulatory, with braces and a cane, and get along rather slowly. The walking distances were a bit of a surprise, but I was happy to see that some ports seem to have pedicabs or trolleys available when disembarking. Seating can be a literal "pain," not only because of width, but also many seem to be so low that it is a struggle to rise. One area you didn't mention was the deck seating provided to balcony rooms. I love to sit out and enjoy the breezes and views, but not wedging myself in and out of the metal chairs (on Carnival). It never occurred to me to ask if there were any other seating options available for accommodation. But one of the biggest problem I have with cruising, and often hotels in general, is with the bathroom -- specifically the showers. Does anyone actually take a bath in a basic tub when on vacation? Why aren't simple walk-in showers the standard? I know that a limited number of rooms are wheelchair accessible with large "roll-in" showers, but I'm not at the point that I need all those amenities. And I don't like taking them from someone else who might. But I cannot step over the sides of the tubs, and my mother who has RA finds it difficult as well. Five days of sponge baths was not fun. The workout room shower didn't even cross my mind, but I wouldn't have wanted to do that every day, anyway. I will say that the last Carnival cruise I was on seemed to have many shower bathrooms, based on the floorplan when we were selecting our rooms. I hope that this is an indication that things may be changing.

What cruise lines do you travel? For your height thats comfortable for you.
@WilliamJones-bg2on
@WilliamJones-bg2on Жыл бұрын
@@lrainmarshall9966 to this point I’ve only cruised on Royal Caribbean (I live near Philadelphia and since flying is more trouble than it’s worth I usually only cruise out of NJ, Baltimore, or NYC so that limits me a bit) but my height has never been an issue. The showers are tall enough and the beds adequate enough. It’s my weight that is my issue since I carry most of it in my midsection. So my primary issues are sitting on the toilet band having enough space to sit comfortably. And in the restaurants making sure to ask for a chair with no arms. Go to the head waiter in the MDR the first day and ask for that and they will make sure that you have it at your table for the entire cruise. In specialty dining restaurants they can do the same or sit you on the sofa side of the tables that have that. The weight prohibits me from certain activities and excursions with limits, but I don’t let it affect my enjoyment of the cruise.

As a group exercise instructor who focuses on Seniors, obese, and people with knee and ankle issues, get or find some chair "aerobics" classes. Chair marching and doing leg lifts in a chair will help build up your quads which in turn will take a lot of the strain on your knee joints and transfer it to your muscles. You can find a lot of Chair Aerobic videos included with Amazon Prime and a few good ones for sale for $10USD. KZfaq also has Chair Aerobic Videos. Make sure you use a non cushioned armless chair

I can suggest something about the airplane seating. If you have to book two seats, you might as well book a first class. The seats are larger and your luggage is almost always part of the price of the ticket. I plan on going on an excursion that requires a helicopter ride to get to the dog sledding. when reading everything about it, it did state a weigh limit of 250 pounds. they do rate the exercise for you. this is a cruise to Alaska and they show everything about these on the ships website. People just need to read what is out there for what they choose to do. this is a great subject to bring up. Thanks for sharing!
@stephenthompson8373
@stephenthompson8373 4 жыл бұрын
First class sounds good except the price is more than 3 economy seats and if you have connections, the connection may not have first class in that leg and then you're back to tiny seats.
@Dangic23

Some airlines give away the second seat, even if you paid for it. Happened to me once....I was traveling with my family of 4.....so I purchased 5 seats....to have the entire middle/center row for ourselves.....and my twin toddlers could lay down if needed. Airline gave that seat to a standby person. We got an airline credit for the seat that expired in a year and that we never got to use.
@kevinbrubaker3707

From Chicago, you are exactly right. I tend to book first class when I can. So far, New York, Orlando, and Puerto Rico are actually less than the cost of two seats. Plus drinks, food, 2 70 pound (not 50 pounds) checked bags each, bigger seat, priority security, priority boarding etc make it totally worthwhile to me.

I read the helicopter dog sled excursion charges $100 for folks over 250# they weigh you with all of your clothing and charge your sail and sign card on the spot
@maureenlandry5348
@maureenlandry5348 4 жыл бұрын
@@cynthiastrom4298 Maureen Landry 3 minutes ago It does mention that in the details of the excursion. If you are 250 lbs and over with all your clothes on, you will pay the extra cost. People may feel insulted but they need to know how much weight is on a small plane or helicopter to safely get you to your destination and back. Fluffy people take up more room and it really does cost more in fuel costs. I am quite fluffy myself but I do understand the reasons for this. Every pound in a aircraft makes a difference in Navigation. (especially small aircraft). I have signed up for the helicopter dog sledding excursion and I will try and loose 20 pounds before I go because you wear a heavy coat and heavy boots etc. Just want to be sure. If I weight to much I will gladly pay the extra cost.

You are awesome! First you don’t look your size, but being honest about weight and size really helps those who are afraid to ask. I wanted to add something really important for large travelers: airline staff are very discreet in proving a seatbelt extension if you ask for one. I carry my weight in my belly and even when I was pregnant I needed one.

With all this uncertainty, in September 2020, I made a commitment that my next cruise, I would be the least "fluffy" I had ever been on a cruise. All your videos in 2019 were very inspirational, and I still appreciate them today. Well, that next cruise was going to be one month from today, and I am only 5 lbs away from the lightest I have ever cruised at, so even though our cruise is cancelled, I'll still be celebrating. Maybe if my June cruise isn't cancelled, walking the stairs up to (the restaurant previously known as) the buffet will be a quite a bit easier!

Due to mobility issues there are a few things I need to consider: the height of a chair seat from the floor, the height of stairway steps, shower handicap bars, and walkway incline with handrails. I don't let these issues stop me, I just prepare myself for more effort, caution, and slower speed. My intent is to use ship stairways. My expectation is to have a fantastic cruise experience. I know my limitations and how to compensate. I'm still learning how to deal with people who assume I have normal abilities because I look normal. Whatever 'normal' is. SH'ngTF has not yet happened in my world. There is so much to experience and enjoy, and DO...

Just an FYI I asked John Heals if there are pool lifts (for those who can't use ladders in pools) he said they do have them on many ships, just as the workers in pool area to arrange.

I was on the newly refurbished Sunrise and they installed a lift by the aft pool. I am disabled. It has not worked since it was installed. I was quite upset and Carnival did nothing about it. I use the pool for PT. My husband would go in the pool before me and I would just fall into his arms. Smh

Thank you for this video. The CPAP tip was huge! I am planning on my first cruise in fall of ‘22 and hope to weigh far less than I do now, but even if I lose 100lbs I’ll still be plus sized. Thank you for preparing me to have a better experience.

Awesome video!! I was on Princess, and found out there is an outlet UNDER the bed, which now makes sense because you have lights by your bed. I just needed an adapter from the Steward, who was happy to give it. Made it so much easier, that we didn't have to run an extension cord across the room.

Thanks for your recent link-back to this video, and for putting yourself out there to make it! I am looking and booking my first cruise now that the vax requirements are dropped, and I'm so excited! I'm a bigger person, and my husband is tall and all legs (he has issues with seats being too close in front at times). This video was super helpful, kind, and encouraging. THANK YOU for all of the time and work you put into your channel.

Trick for CPAP machines. Bring on your own extension cord. We bring the one we use to hook up our Christmas lights. It’s the green one with the 3 outlets in a triangle. Using magnetic hooks, we run our cord along the ceiling so to keep it off the floor. Yes, you are suppose to use distilled water in your CPAP machine. This water only comes in 1 gallon jugs which is a pain to carry on. So, we use bottled water. The place or machines came from gas told us absolutely NOT to use the ship water.

CPAP machine: Norwegian will leave free distilled water in your cabin if you let them know in advance that you need it. Not sure about the other cruise lines; I didn't have a CPAP before now.

I did not know this when sailing Norwegian in August. Our travel agent didn't even know when we who both use cpap said we'll probably have to take distilled water instead of trying to purchase.

I use a CPAP. I bring 2 extension cords - one from the outlet to one side of the bed, and one from the first cord to the other side of the bed. That gives us an outlet on each side of the bed (useful for charging phones and Kindles). I also bring some duct tape to tape down the extension cord from the desk to the bed, so no one trips over the cord. I use my smart phone as a bedside alarm clock, so an outlet is indispensable.

I have never seen all this info collected in one spot. Good job! We have learned about most of these items by having problems on cruises. One thing I don't know how to handle is when we go on an excursion, there is no way to know ahead of time if the bus has a place to put the wife's walker. Sometimes we just have to leave it at the boarding point and hope its there when we get back. We don't take a wheel chair accessible bus because there are people in wheel chairs who need that spot.

Thanks Tony for sharing this useful information. I have mobility issues and use a CPAP machine. I’m traveling on Holland America Eurodam in January. I was able to pre-purchase a gallon of distilled water for $2.95, not terrible expensive and I’m just glad I am able to have some distilled water for my CPAP machine. Many of your comments apply to those of us with mobility issues, thus I’m thankful that you put together this list of helpful tips. Nice job!...Ed

On CPAP, I’ve had one for many years, you can usually get an extension from your steward, usually… A few cruises ago it was a challenge for them, I think they got one from engineering, lol. Now I bring my own, as well as some gaffers tape to cover it.

I'm 5'8" and 360. My gf is a BBW. We sailed on Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas in May. I needed a mobility scooter on the ship so I rented from Scootaround. That was a big help. I requested an accessible cabin which was nice and roomy, and the bathroom was great. Plenty of room to get to the toilet. I requested a shower chair instead of the fold down bench. Dining room not an issue, we got armless chairs in the MDR and had no problems with the other restaurants. We weren't interested in rock climbing or the zip line so that wasn't a problem either. Bars and lounges had accessible seats. When I sang karaoke I asked for a chair onstage. Getting around the ship was a breeze. Also--RC will supply CPAP users with an extension cord and distilled water no charge. I don't use one but I wanted to respond to what he mentioned.

Hi #TeamTony! Thanks for this valuable video!! Here are a few things to add: 1) I use a CPAP machine. On Carnival, I call in and order a gallon of distilled water. It's $3. They note I have a machine and leave a power strip in the room. I don't know if other cruise lines do this. 2) I love Southwest Airlines! I don't buy an extra seat. When I get to the gate, I ask for an extra seat and they give me one. They also put it in the system so that you automatically get pre-boarding and an extra seat on your return. -On American, I have to fly first class to fit in a seat. Sucks paying double! 😠 😥 3) Also, I can't eat or drink anything on travel days because I cannot fit in an airplane bathroom. In 1st class you get unlimited drinks. I had ONE mimosa and had to wee 20 minutes later. That was miserable (and kind of funny. If there was a video, we'd all die laughing 😂). 4) Weight restrictions on excursions are available when you first try to sign up. I tried to do a helicopter tour in Grand Cayman. If you're over 250 lbs (even by 24 pounds! 😥) they won't take you. I asked if I could buy 2 seats ($400!) and they said no.

Staff will remove your extension cord and put one in for you if they see it. Go to customer service desk and tell them you have cpap. There are lots of cruisers who use pap do there’s a long sheet of names. You can use tap water in your cpap without an issue. (Sleep tech here!)
