You look lovely in the burgundy top you are wearing. Gap owns old Navy and athleta. So there is some cross over in their work out wear. Gap is also the owner of Banana Republic, I am a fan of their clothing. If you come across brands that don't pill, and attract all of my cat's hair I would appreciate hearing those details. Good Morning. I am a 5'7" size 20. I too am on a weight loss journey. I was a size 28 jeans 2 years ago. a 4x and 5x top no more. (hard work as you know). Like you, I am now in a xxl top and 20 pants. I ordered a xxl basic tee from Everlane and it was tiny. I have read the quality is great but am waiting until I get down in size. Thank you for your videos. I am excited that during these past months to be able to shop in regular stores. You are very correct, sizing is not consistant at all. Loft also runs small fyi.

My go-to for plus size is Pennington's and Reitman's in Canada. They have free shipping for over a certain amount plus they often have free shipping days. Pennington's quality is very good and Reitman's has definitely upped their game too. Plus both are Canadian! They also have petites in many jeans and pants. I am on the cusp at 5'5" (short torso, long legs) Returns have never been a hassle and they do have mail returns. We have Torrid in are area and they are scheduled to open more stores soon.

I love J Jill. They carry plus sizes and petite. Their clothes are like Talbots, very well made and great variety. I don’t know if they ship internationally but I assume they do.

It's possible to do both. Talbots, for example, often offers deep discounts and free shipping in the US. If you go through a shopping portal like Rakuten, you get even more off.

I haven't because they charge an additional fee to ship to Canada plus they take two weeks to ship the order out. Maybe next time I am in the US I could look up their store and have a peek.

Thanks for the list Cathy. It's getting harder and harder to find brands that will offer petites. And it's even rarer to find plus petites. That's why I'll always love Talbots. I have tried some of Everlane's pants but for me personally, I really can't wear the brand. They seem to gear their clothes towards more hourglass or pear shapes. Their pants and jeans seem to be made for smaller waists with longer rises (some super long) and larger hips and thighs. The exact opposite of my body shape. I found the waists to be extremely tight and the hips, thighs and legs to be huge. I tried a few pieces but sent all of them back. However, my pieces were in 31 in (size 12) waists so regular sizing as opposed to their plus. You may find it works for you since you are losing weight and maybe their plus sizes run differetnly from the straight ones.

I agree with this assessment of Everlane. I bought a couple pair of pants and jeans and ended up sending them back. Very good quality but not right for my body. They do make returns easy at least in the US.

I've been happy with LL Bean for several years---good quality, they last for years, and good petite size 10 fit. I don't always like their colors for women, but they're my go-to for jeans.

I shop at Talbots too because they have a great selection for petites. I’m also part of the rewards program. Since there is a Talbots store where I live If I need to order something if I go to the store I get free shipping. I have ordered from L L Bean but I’m not crazy about their selections. Having watched you video where you mentioned the Endless pants at Athleta I decided to go check them out. They didn’t have my size in petite but ordered two pair of the Endless pants.

Hi Cathy. I've shopped Everlane before -- I bought a pair of jeans from them. I'm 5'6" tall, a size U.S.12 on the bottom and a 14 -16 size on the top. Although the pants fit fine, there is no 'vanity sizing' at Everlane, meaning whatever size a 12 is, it won't fit a 14 on the bottom (some brands will allow for you to wear a smaller size, even though you may be a bit larger.). I think the brand is geared towards a younger clientele, lots of cropped tops (uhhh... no; too old for that.) Their "shtick" is an environmental one -- you can follow the garments creation, how much the workers are paid, the carbon footprint to ship it, cleaner fashion, etc. Their jeans do come in a curvy fit; having said that, I don't think they are inclusive sizing. I haven't perused the web site much, because overall they aren't my favorite retailer.

Thank you for these updates! I have worn Talbots, LL Bean, Jones New York, and Pendleton in regular and plus sizes for decades! Also Ralph Lauren and Banana Republic! I am taller (5' 7") and sometimes have to alter pants longer, but all of these have been good clothing. I will comment that in the past 4-5 years the quality of some of these brands can be less than superior in some products. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I like LL Bean because they last a long time and have tall sizes. I like M&S for same reason. Talbots has been a favorite since I was in my twenties.❤I love the spanx regular jogger pants, they don’t come in tall. I’m 5’11 do you think they’d be too short??

I use Rakuten and love it! I like your store choices. I’m not petite at 5’4” but have a wide waist so I usually buy pull on pants so the legs aren’t too wide. I generally shop at Macy’s but enjoy the Lou and Grey brand for winter from Loft.

I do most of my shopping from lands end and LLBean love lands Ends 5 pocket yoga pants i love LL beans sweat pants I’ve actually worn them ti church and no one knew better lol and their corduroy pants ( perfect fit) Both Lands End and LL bean have easy return I use Swim and Sweat for my swim suits but I do water aerobics and Lands End suits face too fast but their suits are nice I used to shop at CJ Banks but now we can’t boo how Great suggestions here though

I’ve had a lot of success with Cleo. They go up to an XXL, but their petites only go to XL, so sometimes I have to go try stuff on. I ordered a shimmery blouse for the holidays but it was far too big (XL regular) so I reluctantly went to a mall and found one that I loved at Melanie Lyne. I like the option of buying petite sizes mostly because of sleeve length. I prefer to shop online so I’ve made a point to visit some of the stores you mentioned to see what size I am in each store - the sizing varies greatly from store to store! Of course, as we lose weight, the sizing changes more than we realize. Who knew shopping could be such a science? It’s so true though 😂

@@StyleWithCathyOver50 you’re so right. I haven’t bought much from Cleo lately as the styles have definitely changed. I’ve bought some tank tops, cardigans and blouses but no dresses for a long time. Thanks to you I’ve branched out and tried a few things elsewhere and been successful. I still check Cleo every day online, out of habit. Looking back I think I’ve bought mostly summer tops in recent years, where sleeve length isn’t an issue. I think they’re catering to a younger demographic now, such a shame.

Hi, Cathy. You are looking great and the color of that blouse really flatters. I am commenting to say from what I can tell of your taste and preference for well made, higher end clothing, I don't think you should waste your time (or money) on Loft. I have not been impressed with the quality of the few items I have bought there. Their teeshirts, for instance, are thin as tissue paper. I think they are geared toward fast fashion trends and skew pretty young. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for your review of these brands. Like you, I prefer quality over quantity and have more than I need so I'm pretty picky now and shop more for investment pieces. I'm 5'4" with a 29" inseam, and I will not wear cropped pants and the Air Essential tapered pant is sadly too short for my personal taste. Maybe at some point they will make these in a regular length. That was disappointing. I also like Ann Taylor for classic styling, but we don't have many brick and mortar AT stores, and I pretty much have to try everything on to get a fit I'm happy with. I'm definitely going to be trying Banana Republic. You have convinced me to stop into an Old Navy to try their jeans!

Is Ann Taylor and the Loft connected? I really like the Banana Republic tops that I bought, very nice fabric and well made. Hope the ON jeans work out for you. I have emailed Spanx several times asking that they make more petite length tops, the arms are always about 4" too long for me. Hopefully they will offer the tapered pants in different lengths because they are such a popular item.

You don't have to pay a lot for quality. Talbots, for example, often offers deep discounts and free shipping in the US. Going through a portal like Rakuten saves even more. If I tried to dress from TJMaxx, I wouldn't have any clothes. Buying a petite plus size there is virtually impossible.

Nordstrom is so lacking in the petite department - the selection is really bad, so I seldom shop there. Chico's has some petites, but not many, and seldom in store (only on line). Banana Republic carries petites, and their outlet store is also really good. Yes, I remember Marks & Spencers in the Bayshore Shopping Center (when I lived in Ottawa) - and as a Brit, to me they are one of the best stores in the world! I can order on the US website, but they don't carry everything. Everlane has really good quality clothing, but I found the fit to be more for a younger figure. I wish I enjoyed shopping on line - I love to shop, and I like to be able to try things on and feel the fabric, and to have the item the same day. Today I had to return things to Talbots, as the description of the fabric on line (stretch jersey knit) didn't fit the item as received, which was more like a nylon wind pant, or a rain pant. The clerk told me they don't carry a huge inventory anymore, as so many people shop on line. Too bad for those of us that enjoy the experience!

M and s have lost the plot with quality,sizing and type of clothes. The petite used to be 25 now it’s 29 but they didn’t tell anyone. In the uk we have Primark yes it’s fast fashion but a £2 a t instead of £11 in m and s the quality is the same as long as you look after it. I’m sick of spending money on clothes. And now I’m at a size that I don’t have any smaller sizes so odd I need a new wardrobe or look like orphan Annie. So it’s cheap for me until I get to s sustainable size. I’ve been looking for waterproof trousers the brand I love paramo is £180 and 28 inch leg so I’d need them taking up 4 inches! Found some generic £30 went by the measurements and there 2 inches longer so one turn up and will do me fantastic. Your doing so well with your weightloss but realising you are smaller is a bit of a struggle for me.

Your weight loss is looking good. I wondered if you have heard about wearing shoulder pads for people with our build. They don’t have to be big but they definitely would look great with the blouse you are wearing. You can get some that are made to stay in place. I think Amazon would have them. I have the Rakuten app on my iPad that I use daily. And I never remember to use it. I just bought my husband some jeans and t shirts from Old Navy. And I bought myself a coat from Kohl’s. Which didn’t cost too much, because I had Kohl’s cash. I’m petite and plus size. I shop pretty much anywhere that Carrie’s the size I wear. I buy from Old Navy too. I got some wide leg jeans and I love them. I wore them the other day. And I don’t have to hem them. I don’t have any Spanx items. I think they are too pricey for me. I bought some t shirts from Land’s End. And when I dried them they kind of shrunk some. They do stretch back out. I think I got three of them when they were on sale.

I never put cotton t-shirts or sweaters in the dryer, just hang them over the shower rod. I dislike any shrinkage.

Cathy.- have you ever checked out J Jill? It's the same deal as Talbots, in that we here in Canada have to pay shipping, duty, etc. But I love their quality and their styles. Their sizes are "true to size". I am a 2x in Talbots in most things, and same at J Jill.

I get bored easily with clothes. I love comfortable casual style. Retired. I never dress up. Doesn't matter how much clothes cost it's how you take care of them. I've have both and really see no difference. You are really just paying for the name. Just my opinion. The older I get the less I buy. I've donated more than 3/4 of my clothes, a lot with tags still on. I feel so free of stuff..

US companies define petite as those under 5'4." Yes, you can be a petite plus! If you are 5'8" tall, you are not a petite size. If you have short legs or arms....these items many work better for you.

I don’t want to be rude but I think the pronunciation Rakuten is “Rack-uh-tin”. My son applied for a job up there and he corrected me every time I said it (wrong).

I'm just keeping it REAL I'm a Plus Size Women...I've excepted who I am I'm not a huge plus size I wear plus size clothing...and at times I will fluctuate on my sizes I will wear a larger size according to how it looks on me If it looks and fits way better in a larger size then I will choose that one BUY WHAT FIT'S WELL ON YOU BUY WHAT LOOKS GOOD ON YOU NOT EVERYTHING WILL LOOK GOOD (in that "One Size" "You Pretend To Be")🤭 I Look GREAT In Everything I Wear I feel good and confident 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻👌❤ and It's because I use this method when I purchase clothing❤
