jiang cheng deserved better

I can't deal with the fact that this boy spent most of his time feeling worried - not for himself, but for his loved ones - and then all of his worst fears came true.

I will never recover from fact that Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying ended up apart. They didn’t deserve it.

am i still upset that his emotional arc isn't quite resolved? yes. yes i am. am i gonna go browse some fix-it fics on ao3 forever and pretend they're all canon? also yes.

Jiang Cheng is honestly one of my favourite characters - he's just so complicated and nuanced and I hate that he didn't get as happy of an ending as Wei WuXian or Lan WangJi. He did horrible things yes, but Wei WuXian did too, even if his intentions and heart were good. Just goes to show they're all human and most of Jiang Cheng's actions were out of hurt and grief - he lost everything, and while that's not an excuse for anything he did, he still deserves a shot at happiness and someone standing in his corner??? He deserves a family?? At the end, other than Jin Ling(who has to go back and lead the Jin sect), who else does he have at Lotus Pier???? And the ending is just?? He never tells Wei Wuxian the truth about why he lost his golden core and???? he's still sad?? And then I'm sad. :((( It's honestly part of the reason I ship XiCheng so much cause - while the ship is cute on its own (despite the meager interactions LMAO) - I just want them both to be happy??? I want to see Jiang Cheng work through all his leftover issues(get you some therapy, jEsuS), and I want him to reconcile with Wei WuXian and I want him to have a family again(tbh the Gusu Lan sect seems the most likely candidate just cause of the amount of connections - Jin Ling's friendship with Sizhui and Jingyi and of course Wei Wuxian's marriage) and - while I'm in no way saying romance equates to happiness because it definitely doesn't - I want him to actually have someone unequivocally on his side(And also I low key want Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng to stop hating each other, cause sirs; y'all are brothers-in-law now, come on). Same thing for Lan XiChen who, although has Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian's support, still just found out one of the people he loved killed another person he loved! At the end of the show, those two are the ones that are the saddest characters(and Nie Huaisang. I sadly don't know as much about him but I want him to be happy too)! Let them be happy! Let them all be happy! They all deserve better campaign 2k20! *cries in too many emotions* Oof this is a long ass comment, sorry about that XDDD

Jiang cheng became my favorite character after i read the novel, read manhwa, watch donghwa, watch the untamed. I come to understand him so much😭😭😭 he's like a big baby tsundere. And i just cant imagine that he suffered just as much as wwx, he deserve more love :""" ✨✨✨ so, I LOVE YOU JIANG WANYIN

Jiang Cheng tried so hard and of course he is incredibly hurt after seeing his brother not only being the reason for it all but also losing everything and then finding out what he thought was wrong. To add to that, he has a core from his brother who was always better than him at anything. I don't think Jiang Cheng can truly stop hurting after all of this.

He's different from WWX yet is so much similar to each other. They both refuse to tell the truth about their golden core, with the same excuse, it's already happened, there is no need to tell the other. His character is so complex that out of all, I love him the most after WWX, LWJ and NHS.

His story and his character will never not make me tear up. He's one of my favorite characters and I just want to protect him from everything. I wish he and wwx had gotten a happier ending and it kills me to know that things could have never been like they were before

I love how complicated this man is. He was unloved by his dad, but his mother’s love was hardly love. He was eclipsed by his adoptive brother, but he loved him so much. He lost his entire family, but he blamed it all on his brother. He was rescued and healed by Wen Qing and Ning but wouldn’t step out of line to help them. He lost his golden core and was given a new one but it turned out to be that of his estranged brother. There’s so much more… in the book he actually tortures people he suspects to have something to do with WWX. But he also cares for his nephew (even though he’s about as good a parent as his mom). I wish he had had someone during all this. But I guess he pushed everyone away. 😭😭😭

Oh this vid made me cry... poor Jiang Cheng 😭😭!! my favorite bits of your amazing editing here were those parallels with their hands (at around the 50s-1:00 mark), “always been afraid of heights”, and the last repeat of “show me where my armor ends” when he is crying... such a perfect song choice to portray his character arc!

I just realized how much pain Wei Wuxian must’ve felt inside when he saw Jiang Cheng was going to make him fall off that cliff, you can see the realization in his face as soon as Jiang Cheng comes. I get that he was about to just fall off the cliff himself but then Lan Zhan caught him, but still like imagine someone who you’ve trusted and loved and had happy moments with, even after him clearly resenting Wei Wuxian while he was in the Burial Mounds, just making you fall to your death.
