Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the new campus of the Nalanda University near Rajgir, Bihar. On this occasion, he also planted a sapling of the Bodhi tree- an enduring symbol of Buddhist heritage and Indian spirituality, at the campus.
Governor of Bihar, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, MoS for External Affairs, Shri Pabitra Margherita and Chancellor of the University, Prof. Aravind Panagariya were among the dignitaries present on this occasion.

Building university alone won't help. Nalanda will have to be developed like ayodhya with modern raily station, airport etc. Nalanda will have to be connected with all major indian cities directly.

Pawan Varma seems to know the ground reality at Nalanda . He should start taking more interest with the authorities & contribute to correct the situation ( without Ego & selfishness ). Micro management like changing the name of the station could be taken up with Chancellor of the University. Universities are not built in a Rush . Add new areas subjects as one find good faculties & build stability. We have waited 800 plus years to recover & rebuild . What is the hurry to do rush job ? . Do a proper & sincere job.

Pawan Verma is a left leaning author and intellectual so we cannot expect more from him. All the speakers were beating around the bush, without speaking on the actual problems in the university that was working under the UPA regime. The Nalanda University that was international started in the UPA era was under the aegis of a Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen a staunch Hindu and India hater, and it was instituted for humanities and not Sciences . So it was for those students who would badmouth / disgrace India in international space. Viewers will understand the context well when they know of this backdrop of the earlier period.

If culture and institutions weren't important invaders and colonial wouldn't have spended resources and energies for destroying them i distruction aren't required for looting. They could have easily taken away wealth and books they required but chosen to destroy whole nalanda,and temples all across Bharat.
