India is the home where influence resides. People get influenced by many things. One of them is the language choice which has found importance in both professional and personal circles. You attend any good school, they will teach you stuff in English. Not Hindi. People are growing up speaking English. Majority of us understand only English. We want it because it gives us a sense of professionalism. Well you can say that depends on individual, but most of the public would follow it with closed eyes. Hindi will be the nation's local language for years to come. Its not wrong if one expects a Prime Minister to communicate in English, as it makes a much better impression with a technology giants like Facebook and more. The bigger fact on this can be that the PM isn't able to process English like most others do, which is lack of skill for such a position. English is a basic skill.

Perhaps I know a better outer world. Knowledge (primary requirement) is more important than a language(secondary) to communicate. If you and these people are right, then how come the other PMs whom I suggested got blamed and ignored beyond their exceptional abilities ?? (Especially the P.V.Narasimha rao who is efficient in communicating 17 languages without any grammatical defect). How come the PMs like Nehru and his dynasty (who are more recognized by themselves only) can dare to ruin the India (by virtue of) with their language abilities (their selfishness) ?? In that sense, can I consider that you are indirectly spitting your love on Nehru and his dynasty ?? Think logically. How come all english speaking countries cannot possess the far most advanced knowledge & technology than India which has achieved it thousands of years ago, yet successful in naming it as idiotic country ?? Better impression is the mindset that one may possess. Elevate the standards of thinking but do not always suggest the other people to upgrade their abilities. The problem with most of the indians now is, they can interpret anything as wrong, yet capable enough to make it as business and national issue besides to that. A pessimist can only do like this. It isn't wrong if one can change their mindset too. Spitting is more common for most of the indians, but it is happening with their motherland & mother tongue as they already lost their devotion towards these divine things in the quest of english and foreign countries. In your words, the people's approach to our education is, the devotion towards the english rather than knowledge. One should make their skills in picking the positive points but not finding faults always. I didn't deny that having knowledge/communication in english is necessary but do not consider that it is must for everyone in all situations. Since, I am a Ph.d student I know the value of communicating in english better than so many persons who are against to the concept which I am supporting here. No one can consider that it is a skill with which the people only find the faults of others. I am unbiased. Still if you want to blame me, then you can consider me as devotee of India and its hereditary knowledge. No one here pointed out the content of their discussion rather they focussed on the language. +TurboRSV You are very mistaken my friend. 'A lot' of us understand -only- English. Majority of us understand Hindi/mother tongue better. Many schools have instructions in Hindi/regional languages. Very few people get a chance to go to a 'good school'. Many people I have met (some of them my friends) do not have a very good grasp over English. They speak in broken and grammatically incorrect English when absolutely required to and 'might' have trouble understanding an American accent. That, however, does not say anything about their capability as productive citizens of society, as they are very talented and awesome individuals. So, while it may benefit to be fluent at English, no being so is not a big issue if your job doesn't require that skill. Even if your job _does_ require proficiency at English, it is still not that big a problem if you don't know it; you can always learn. P.S.: If you didn't get my hint earlier... "Majority of us understand _only_ English" Its kinda sad since _majority_ of us are more comfortable in Hindi/regional language.
