Offering sublime soundscapes within compact, lightweight designs, the Yamaha MODX range of synthesisers are ideal for a multitude of scenarios whether you're playing on stage, recording in the studio or simply just streaming...but with these new 'plus' models, they offer more power with upgraded polyphony, higher quality control wheels, more RAM memory and new sounds!
Taking inspiration it's their bigger brother, the Montage, the MODX+ utilises two synthesis engines, one being the sample-based AWM2 Synthesis Engine (Advanced Wave Memory 2), the other being the FM-X Synthesis Engine (Frequency Modulation). Both can be used simultaneously, enabling performers to unlock and achieve impressive and complex soundscapes which are perfect for a wide selection of projects.
One of the most standout functions is Smart Morph, which as the name suggests allows you to morph between FM-X sounds to achieve a selection of refreshingly new and interactive sounds. On the other hand, Motion Control allows control of up to 128 parameters at the same time, which can either be automated or manually controlled with the onboard Super Knob.
Boasting over 2200 sounds and a 256 note Polyphony, the Yamaha MODX+ are premium music synthesisers, providing immersive studio quality performance from the very first note.

Most of the modern and expensive keyboards doesnt consist this level of real sounds and som rich keyboard features thats the beauty of a keyboard and atrraction for a player.. And arpps are on next level i have no words its the real vibe of why someone should purchase and curious to explore any keyboard

MODX is my main board since 2019. I have watched about seven MODX+ clips and I can't hear the difference. Cosmetically it's the same appearance, still no aftertouch, midi thru and four sliders not eight. That said, my MODX-8 is starting to show signs of wear-tear and age. It's played hours daily for three years and at about 50 shows a year, so she's been pretty solid.

From what I hear it's more memory, and double the polyphony for the FM engine. So for the most part, it will sound the same. It's more in line with the Miontage so sound banks from the Montage that wouldn't work properly on the MODX should on the MODX+.

yes they are on the original modx for hundreds less.. the only difference on this new one is more fm polyphony and memory for storing samples.. and the modwheels were changed.. save 300 bucks and you have the same sounds except it wont say + on it..

I love the way Luke demonstrates the capability of the Yamaha MODX+ but I am waiting for the new Montage so I can have more sliders and controls plus an internal power supply rather than a wall wart.

This is amazing. We'll probably be getting this for our church keyboard player. Being as how her old keyboard had internal speakers, what does everyone recommend for a simple external speaker setup? I was thinking even something the the Headrush FRFR 8 inch would be sufficient for simplicity sake.

if only we got more presets like ‘pearly gates’. and more reviewers doing something along those lines. instant seller, that preset is. im tired, honestly, of reviews playing rhodes, wurlies etc and, god forbid, brass patches (they always sound horrible and cheezy, no matter the price point of the instrument).

Speak master, help me in a cruel doubt. I've heard a lot about the MODX keys not being good, that's true, right? I say this because I want to buy a MODX 7+ help me there except for this doubt thanks. I'm the best keyboard player. One thing I've learned, from all of these KZfaq videos, is that I need to bob my head around to some kind of beat while I am playing, especially when the keyboard is doing most of the work for me.

@@lukejuby I've done many live performances with many keyboard players. This is artifice. Nobody does this...yet they do it all the time on KZfaq videos. It is simply hamming it up for the camera in an effort to push a product or a video. By all means, ham it up, and sell it.

There is nothing worse than Yamaha synthesizers these days! The next will be another Modx Plus, but in white. I don't expect anything else from Yamaha. This synthesizer is another Yamaha duck.

Absolutely the worst upgrade from Yamaha. 1GB > 1.75 GB in 2022? What a joke ! How about making a pure VA synth again?

Anyone looking at a sub $2000 synth to be the next big thing in synthesis is always going to be disappointed. This is a synth for gigging musicians - people with a weekly bar or wedding gig that want decent patches to play cover songs with. If you're a tweak-head, knob twisting synth programming freak, you're gonna be disappointed with anything Yamaha, Roland or Korg put out that costs less than $2000 (except for maybe the Deepmind and plenty of people bitch and moan about its shortcomings). These budget synths are for the gigging crowd that need to play a Bruno Mars cover at a wedding on a Saturday night, or for the keyboard player on a small tour.

@@terrygray7465 that’s not true. I have a Roland fantom 0 and it has chokeload full of features such as onboard multi sampling, full sequencing, powerful zen core synth engines such as va, PCM, etc. And full synth expansions such as Jupiter, Juno etc.
