Scorpion did his job in Injustice. Sold DLC like nuts and then nerfed after the quota was met.

I remember when Scorpion had 4/5 top 8 placements at CEO, but because he didn't land 1st place, it was seen as "See, he isn't that good, what is all the complaining about?"

I’ve never seen 1 patch completely slaughter a single character more than that Scorpion patch. That’s the fastest I’ve seen a character flip from top to bottom

Scorpion in the first Injustice has to be the most egregious nerf for sure. One month, broken beyond belief and then a month later, gutted like a fish.

I actually remember giving Injustice 2 a chance because I thought Deadshot's trailer looked cool. Then I played the game at launch as him, and was hated by everyone until I stopped wanting to play, lol.

I think MK 1 Sbuzero should've been included in the list 'cause after the release of the game, NRS butchered the character

I remember what a sad day it was when Supergirl got nerfed. One of the rare instances where I dropped a character because of nerfs.

The only other character I’m aware of that’s been gutted as badly as IJ Scorp is probably Sean from Street Fighter 2nd impact going into 3rd Strike

0:58 I'm gonna stop you right there, it's MK11 Geras. He got nerfed EVERY. SINGLE. PATCH. All of them. There is no way there's a character with more nerfs by pure numbers. It's Geras, hands down. And all they were able to do was drop him from +S to +A. He was THAT fundamentally solid and played MK1 that well. And of kourse, who kould forget the nerfs that accidentally buffed him, like the infamous change to sandtrap's KB requirement that allowed you to effectively get it on kommand whenever you wanted rather than it being in your opponent's kontrol? Very fitting for the reanimating strongman!

Geras is an interesting one though. Even after the nerfs he received, till this day he plays MK11 very well. Yes, he was used a lot less in tournament but he’s still solid. Btw, I really liked this video man👍🏻 I’d love to see a video about most significant buffs in Mortal kombat games. Doesn’t mean that characters shot up to top tier but they were helped drastically. Just some ideas top of my head: Injustice1 Bane venom buff reworked to add armor to specials, which would carry over to Inj2 Commando Kano’s new 22 string and b14 MB launcher in MKX . MKX Takeda gaps in his mid strings reworked MkX Jason dmg buff reworked to break armor. Mk11 Kollektor changes to 44 string Mk11 Kano changes to f12b2 string, changes to chemical burn Mk11 Noobs low slide buff

Geras also was the only character who has his MOVEMENT nerfed. Ouch. 😂 Great video ggs

Mk11 sonya also was sad. She was so cool in the early days then died after early nerfs, even took life away from her and never gave it back. And yeah they hit supergirl pretty hard.

The idea that a game had a competitive scene but no one knew what frame data was, where as all the other popular fighting games have been talking about frames for god knows how long is kind of hilarious.

I almost forgot how beast-like Geras was in MK11..

I think Kung Jin Bojutsu would’ve been worth mentioning. He went from literally number one in MKX (half the Fatal 8 tournament was bojutsu Kung Jin) to bottom 5 in the game.

If different versions of the same game count, I would argue the nerfs to Sean Matsuda from SF3 Second Impact to Third Strike give Injustice Scorpion's title of most nerfed character in fighting game history a run for its money. Grabted, he didn't receive as many nerfs as Scorpion did, but the ones he got were way worse than anything NRS did to Hanzo. I'm talking bs on the level of removing the ability to combo from one of his specials, making a projectile super's start up so slow that opponents could react to the screen freeze and flash effect with a jump in and punish it, and, I'm not making this up, having one of his specials be unsafe *on hit.* Some people who only played Third Strike used to think he was designed as a joke or meme character, when it fact he had been the undisputed best character in the game a version prior.

i mained deadshot in injustice 2 and picked up supergirl because that matchup was so bad and figured i'd fare better in a mirror, then deadshot got nerfed about 80 times and i was like "i guess i'll just play supergirl now" but i always missed deadshot and was sad that he got decimated

Adjustments can be changed to appearing with Kano and characters to appearing at the tournament appearance

Let's not forget deadshot also had really stupid mix ups that could lead to combos. A common complaint was he had too good of a close range game for how good his zoning was.

To be honest 1:13 is the reason why the tourney scene can be kind of repetitive since you usually see the same characters over and over again. Its rare if anyone picks a character they actually like.

I remember when the Geras nerfs happened and a lot of people regarded them as buffs since they gave him a lot of Krushing Blows at the end of combos. I didn't realize that the competitive community actually regarded them as the nerfs they really were

I understand that money is on the line and to NOT pick these characters when your opponents will be is putting yourself at a disadvantage... But it just goes to show that people will always flock to the most braindead, overpowered character. The ONLY time I accept the strength of a character is when they are difficult to use. I remember being so pissed off at all the Kabals in MK9 that I decided to try him out. He was HARD to use. I kinda shut my mouth after that.

I don’t think I ever saw such a brutal fall from grace quite like what happened to Injustice Scorpion. I get he was strong early on, but I feel they went a bit far.

The biggest nerf though bar none is Shinnok. Going from literally untouchable to…..yeah…

Geras remained broken despite all the ‘nerfes’. His broken d1 was free to mash against almost all the characters, its 6 frames startup was the issue, not the recovery frames in any way

Deadshot and Superman in injustice 2 genuinely made me question nrs’ ability to make a game. I genuinely adore injustice 2 but I can’t understand how they thought the zoning in the game was acceptable. Injustice 2 was the first fighting game I ever went “pro” with. I won an injustice gods among us tournament, I have a lot of love for the franchise but the zoning is unforgivable bruh.
