You can simultaneously think Jackson was a bargain signing that is a useful & versatile player who will chip in goals and be (generally) happy with him, WHILE knowing we need a senior number 9 for these moments. I also see a lot of green shoots in Jackson's general play. Though his 3 chances were 0.7xg, and elite striker may stick a low value chance away, that COULD even be Jackson in 5 years, but not right now,.

Jackson is in a touch spot because I think Ideally he's playing behind a senior striker. He's young and learning a new position and we're relying on him, and that's not fair to him at all.

Never in my life witnessed the striker’s instinct in Jackson. You can try offering him a couple of Lamborghinis in return for one time shot, either lob or finesse but he will refuse all of them in favour of rounding up the goalkeeper. He’s that honest.

As upset I am at this result, you have to remember this is our first season as this particular squad, to end up 1-0 losers to arguably the best team in the world gives me some comfort. We definitely weren't bossed in this game. With all the changes throughout the club and the very young, inexperienced squad, I don't think we've had that bad of a season! I don't feel we are at the level of most teams around us, I feel overall we are better. Brighton, man u, Newcastle or even Villa. I know some are way above in the league, but we aren't far off, sort out our defence and our mid game tactics and we are right up there next season.

I blame Poch for playing Connor at LW and watching him slow every opportunity he had down. I blame Poch for once again bringing on subs and sitting back defensively, which plays right into City's hands. I blame Poch for putting Disasi out at RB instead of Trev. Disasi can't defend Doku. Trev is quicker. I also blame the board for Nico being our starting striker. We didn't need a big signing, just someone decent. Jackson needs to be a rotation piece as he learns a new position. He does great in everything except finishing really. So while yes, the players need to convert their chances, why are we constantly fighting against Poch's stupid decisions.

Let's not forget that it's on Poch and his team to coach Jackson on the attributes that would make him a top class striker, such as finishing. xG doesn't take into account who takes the shot by the way. It's just looking at the percentage of similar shots from the same areas that end up as goals.

The winner resulted from Pep subbing Doku for Grealish. Doku passed the ball to de Bruyne who crossed it to Bernardo Silva (via a touch from Petrovich)

City had a 120 minute game 2 days ago. Love how Poch sets us up ? Did you see the game ? We were absolutely dominated and our goal opportunities came on counterattacks with City being dead on their feet with fatigue. It's great to support our team through thick and thin and all, but it's time, after two horrendous seasons, to acknowledge that a lot of players and the manager are subpar, while being overpaid for. Boehly came and dismantled the club on the pitch, in terms of non-playing personel and in regard of FFP. It's good that you like "believing in the process", because it will be your only football solace for quite a few years. Congrats, my masochistic friends.

Poch deserved this. To start Jackson and Madueke after acting like children and putting Mudryk on the bench is insane.

We really shouldve won that. Even tho we lost i think poch has convinced a lot of "poch out" fans with this one he's more than capable of winning with this team. One elite striker away from top 4 contention

Chelsea threw that away, it was there for the taking. BUT, let’s face it, Chelsea are not a FA Cup finalist level. They did as well as could be expected. Having said that, should have had a Penalty and should have made better subs. But Chelsea this year have been disappointing, without Palmer and Gallagher we’d be 17th. We got what we deserved.

As useful as Gallagher is, he's not a very good attacking player. Thus, when we have him up front we're not as efficient in attack. Nothing mysterious here.

I have been in Poch's camp for much of the season. Enzo was woeful and absolutely shouldn't have come back for this game after the incredible display from Caicedo and Conor against Everton. Since we set up to park the bus anyway, what was Enzo's intended role in this game? Would it not be better to instead drop Conor one level and put Mudryk's pace on the left for the break on the counter? Jackson should have been subbed at half time, it was clear he wasn't going to put anything away or be of any use on the day. I like Jackson generally, but today he was beyond useless and our changes should have reflected that earlier. Can't say that I agree with Poch being blameless today.

Have to agree its not Poch’s fault they’re good one game then bad the next. Do we get rid of him? A few EXPERIENCED players in key positions might make the difference (but don’t hold your breath, the owners won’t do it).

Strange Game. City had more of the ball and yet Chelsea created more chances, which is unusual when playing City, although they did turn the screw with 30 minutes to go. Every time I watch Chelsea play and the chances missed and wasted, I cannot help thinking: “If only they had a World Class Striker worthy of the name”, this could, would have and no doubt should have been, a different story for Chelsea this Season”. I also think Chelsea should have had a penalty. If the arm had been going out instead of in, that would have been given, so what is the difference it being the other way round. Not only that, if not handball then why can’t VAR say: “No penalty, but it is a corner”….they interfere in everything else!!! I would also love to know how the challenge by Walker “inside” the box is not a foul, but the exact same challenge “outside” the box is. I usually blame Pochettino in some way or another, but today I am looking in only one direction….Jackson. Pochettino set Chelsea up perfectly, but not much you can do when your Striker misses chance after chance, like he usually does. I used to get upset when Chelsea lost important games, sadly in this day and age I am getting far too used to it. Oh well, that I that for another Season, as far as Chelsea are concerned. Until Chelsea gets that World Class Striker, Chelsea will not stand much chance of winning another trophy.

I can't say I agree with the xg discussion. For the chance in the first half, Jackson doesn't even shoot, so that opportunity goes down as 0 xg. If he gets a shot of there, his total xg would likely be more than 1 for the game. For the 2nd chance, he also doesn't do as well as he should. He kind of chokes it and takes the shot on too early, which is why it's so weak. He was able to take another touch across the defender and closer to goal before getting the shot off which would've been higher xg. All in all, we need a striker in the summer. I would go for Toney, he's cheaper than Osimhen and has already shown what he can do in the prem.

I dont blame poch, yes he made changes very late on but that wasn't what lost us the game. It was simply down to the absolute wastefulness in front of goal. Multiple chances to kill the game off & we fluffed EVERY SINGLE ONE.
