What a finish on the frame work 👌 , can’t wait to see the next part , I did an overhaul on my kids minimoto years back can’t wait to see yours , chain guard , faring kit , tires , feet pegs , new engine , kill switch , exhaust, ( it’s was a great project )

Martin , I had the exact problem you mentioned when powder coating handlebars on a bike I did with regards sliding the controls back on .... unless they clamp on , I ended up masking off with heat resisting tape up to the point that the levers needed to be. Regards Mike

ive been thinking of restoring mine its the exact same as yours the forks are siezed solid it was sat outside for 5 years when i got it i fitted new clutch a pullstart cleaned carb and it fired up

Hi martin, the standard pull start on those engines are prone to breaking. You can get a upgrade on amazon called an easy start £15.

Next time you're removing a hand grip use an air compressor with a fine tip gun it will allow you to twist them off generally speaking.sometime you can go through the bar tube to blow them off other time you carefully lift the corner with a small screw driver and spray air in them and they will lift and loosen. I do a ton of old bicycles from the 30s to the 60s and you useally can't get matching grips anymore especially the store brand stuff from here in the states The other thing that works sometimes is a soapy water solution under the grip with the air compressor. Just trying to save you a few bucks. This newer china stuff it isn't a big deal but some of the classic mowers this might help you in the future.

Thanks Martin. I´m recovering a 50cc ATV with my 13 yo daughter. In my dreams it should be a total restoration, but to keep her interrested we had to cut it down to sanding and Hammerite-brushing. This is her first time in the workshop, so we have to make steady progress getting it to be a runner. If she likes this, we probably advance on another project later on.
