I’ve been working on building regular arcade sticks lately and when I saw the pocket operator for the first time I was just like “I’MA MAKE A BIG ONE!” Looks like somebody beat me to it. It looks great man. I will probably follow your tutorial when I get around to actually buying a PO. Great work.

Omg I just bought a pocket operator for my little brother and sister for Christmas and would love to build one of these to go along with it. Amazing idea, and it’s such a nice final product.

This is awesome man, I have an extra tonic so I may do something like this for it. I'm building a box/case for my other 5 right now and was browsing to see other designs and came across this first. Need most of the components though so can't be impulsive and do this build today unfortunately lol.

yeah I was thinking the same thing. Why fix it when it aint broke? But I can see where if this was done in clear plastic with alot of extra lights it would be beneficial for dark stage performance, maybe? I dunno but these are fun little devices when you use them in unison with the Boss rc-505 looper.

Hi, I want to build it similar but I only want to connect the buttons (no lipo battery no audio cables and no beat repeat) how should I connect the buttons? Once welded as in the video do I have to connect them to the ground? If so which pin is the ground? Thank you

Useful instructions thank you. TIP: When drilling into such thin material it's a good idea to place the panel onto a thick piece of wood and clamp them together on the bench so the panel is fully supported, then the drill doesn't burst through the rear and leave it splintered. Also flat bits are quite lethal and uncontrollable, use a manual brace and bit (far slower and much more contrallable) or as you said, a hole saw. One other thing, how can you write on the caption "SOLDER" then pronouce it SODDER?? It's like Soldier but just remove the 'J' sound - Say "SOUL-DER" and you have it and will not get grief from any other English speaking country ;) Heat-shrink sleeving is also a good idea to protect all the wire joints..

Is it possible to connect this to a special MIDI interface instead so you can hook it up with your DAW instead and use any MIDI-controller you like?? Now that would be insane!! :D

Has anyone tried to replace the pots? B was totally gone and A kept randomly changing pitch. The board looks really thick, how is the thermal mass of this thing? Can I just flux and mop or do I need to heat the board first? I'm a complete novice when it comes to soldering.

Yeah but there's something great about seeing how the ideas of the PO can be used with other input methods, it really shows how this is a true musical instrument, as it has its own language.

You can't finger drum on the PO. This guys whole thing is all about nice set ups for finger drumming. It's suits his and many others needs. I'm doing this to the PO33 and finally not dealing with those og trim pots. I'm going to keep it smaller, using all small arcade buttons. This has its place.

Nice tutorial but... Man... The background music! It is so loud that it covers your voice and gives me headache!! :-( I could not stand it for more than 5/10 minutes hence I had to follow your tutorial without sounds! The balance is a little bit... Unbalanced! The idea, tho, is AWESOME! Absolutely BRILLIANT! Thumbs up for this tutorial! 👍
