Your tips are excellent, Michelle. Thank you! I have always stayed away from sheets because to me, it is overwhelming and thus I have always inserted tables into docs to get my "grids" and "arrays" for student documentation instead of using sheets. After watching your video today I feel like I might be more willing to try Google sheets out again. Thank you!

Thanks for this fantastic list of Google Sheets hacks! I get more and more into GS every day. :) I teach high school math, and am often tracking over a hundred students over two different courses and five class period. I use data sorts based on columns a lot. One of the things that I use almost weekly is Google Forms to collect information from kids, make exit tickets, send forms home for parent input, etc. During the pandemic I was using Google forms for attendance and student feedback. Do you ever use Google Forms? I LOVE the connections between Forms and Sheets.

Can you do a video about the formulas? I have looked for one on KZfaq from anyone and they are all way too long and aren’t what I’m looking for. I simply want to take a range of data and have it all be out of a certain score and then show me the percent. So for example when I click 7 and the test was out of 8 it would automatically change it to 87.5%. Then I could take all of the classes % and see the class average %.

Hi Andrew! Yes, you can definitely do this! Here's some directions on creating percentages in Google Sheets: www.howtogeek.com/795701/google-sheets-percentage-formula/#:~:text=You%20can%20calculate%20the%20percentage,a%20combination%20of%20the%20two.&text=Here%20the%20result%20is%200.25%20or%2025%20percent. Hopefully that helps!

Excellent video, personally I find pretty useful to make use of the =sparkline() function. After you've selected a range of data it will display a minimalistic graph wich is basically a line plot, but designed to fit into a cell, pretty useful when wanting to have a simple visual aid to start seeing patterns on the data you're working with.

I LOVE these hacks!! I watched your video on Student Checklists and now I have my entire teaching team using checklists to record daily attendance for each class we teach! You are amazing! I have a question about the student data sheet you created. Using your hacks I've been able to create a data sheet specific for my school and the data we collect. Is there a way to automatically create a sheet for each student? Or do I have to create 79 individual sheets in one document to have one on each student? I LOVE the drop down boxes but was wondering if there was an easy way to keep a digital sheet on each student. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for your videos!

As I mentioned in the video, this is a little more complicated, ha. It took me a big to figure out but I'll consider sharing it in a future video! Thank you so much for watching and taking time to comment! I appreciate you! 🥰🖤
@rilian226
@rilian226 9 ай бұрын
I figured it out after a lot of searching online. As the author stated, it's complicated. You basically have to construct a custom conditional formatting rule that uses the logical operator AND. The rule will change depending on what cell your checkbox is in and what cells you want highlighted but it would look something like this: =AND($K$2=TRUE,$F2="searchterm") ... Where cell K2 is the checkbox location and F2 in this case has a sample of the search term. The $ in front of the F2 means to highlight the entire row within the selected range of cells to conditionally format. You can replace searchterm inside the quotes with what text you're looking to highlight. Highlighting empty cells would be "". You can alter the selected text for a given conditional rule and/or alter the search term as desired. You can get fancier and add more conditions as needed with AND, NOT and OR functions.

Your content is relevant and helpful, and you are engaging. I especially enjoy your technology hacks and step-by-step tutorials. I recently left teaching and am currently working on my MA in Education. We've been asked to pose a question on any social media platform, and I chose yours. I was hoping you wouldn't mind briefly responding, especially since you are an educator, author, KZfaqr, and speaker. @@PocketfulofPrimary Yes please do! I'm in the same boat of struggling to find the exact formula to get it to work, and I'm hoping yours will give me a better place to start. Thank you for everything!

Ok, Hack 7 I was so expecting you to show us how to do the toggle on and off and I can't tell you how helpful that would be to know! Where did you learn it or can you please make a video on that? Seriously, where did you learn all this stuff??

Is there a way to connect two Sheet books? I’d like to have my class assessment book automatically populate into another Sheet book that has only a single student’s assessments - that way I can share it directly with the student and their parents and not have to spend extra time filling in both books manually. 🤗😘

There’s a way. I’m not sure of the exact formula but there’s a way that involves typing the actual link to the other sheet

I have to ask. Were your cat’s ears in the video, or am I seeing things? Also, these hacks are AWESOME! Thank you! ❤

My greatest hack would be to have an admin person create all those wonderful spreadsheets for me. Just kidding. Hope you had a great birthday. You've already helped so many people and you are only 29!

If you have a drop down of priorities (Urgent, High, Medium, Low) and want to sort sheet by this exact order, how can I do that? Like, I want all the urgents at the top, all the highs next, etc. Is there a way to have something like this besides sort sheet a-z / z-a? Thanks!

Yes! I'm the one that scheduled them, LOL! I shared with my email subscribers that I was switching my upload day from Sunday to Friday so you have longer to watch the video over the weekend!
