I started using Google Classroom last year. None of us (teachers) received any professional development so I watched A LOT of KZfaq videos, like this one. This one was especially helpful, though and in 14 minutes learned 5 tips that I already utilized in my own classes, so THANK YOU!!!

Thank you so much for this! I'm a homeschool mom who just discovered Google Classroom and I nearly ditched it for the exact reason of not being able to see the week at-a-glance. I had created a classroom for each subject and topics for each subsection. (Example: Writing, Grammar, Reading all in the Language Arts Class) but we quickly missed being able to see all subjects for the week and easily see what was left for ALL subjects. Organizing by weeks makes sense! That is how I have always done it with every other planner whether it was paper or digital. The second issue we came across was color coding the subjects. That was the reason we created new classes for each subject (allowing different colors) which I think did more harm than good, so I love the idea of emoji color coding!! I was able to do this straight from my Samsung smartphone rather than using the Emoji Copy thing (in case anyone was wondering - it's the same emojis) Your video has revived my excitement for Google Classroom for my middle schooler. 😍

I organize mine by subjects. However, for the next school year, I really like the idea of organizing by the weeks. I think this will help students that are absent find their work faster. I will also continue organizing by subjects (because I really like doing that) with a color coded system. Thanks for sharing! 🤗

I have a lot of material and I like to allow students their choice of assignment. I have never been able to fluidly do this in class until now and I will continue with Google once we finally (hopefully) go back to school. I will assign a group of assignments to guide students to find a topic to work on and use the topics as material and once they have visited chosen place they may upload their assignments. I like your topic being the week students are in, excellent, thanks for sharing. This whole distance learning is a process. lol I feel like after 4 months I do not feel as apprehensive about utilizing this app. I think you will be getting huge views here. Congrats on a concise and most excellent video.

I love your ideas... You have helped and inspired me so much Michelle. one thing I do to help third graders find their work for the day is I have a topic that says today. It helps them find assignments faster. Yes I edit each new day moving the day before back into the week then moving the new assignment up to today, but it is worth it. Michelle, how did I not know to drag it instead of edit. Duh! 😂
