Michelle, thank you for your honesty. We are all feeling the stress of this new adventure. I have been teaching digitally for a week now...and I love it! Starting up is a rollercoaster of emotions...it should be. We can do this, it is what teachers do!!!

Hi, Michelle! Thanks for all of your tips and help! I have a tip for you. Instead of highlighting every other row and changing its color manually, you can highlight the range you want to alternate, then go to 'Format' and 'Alternating Colors'. Google Sheets will do it for you! You can even select the two colors you want, and a third color for headers. Hope you have a great start to this crazy year!

Love this video!! I’ve got the perfect Disney quote and song for you: “we are all in this together”. I absolutely love the new digital planner (got my copy). If you think about it, you actually did more for your classroom than you think, you have a new organized virtual space, you’ve done lots of online prep. Don’t sell yourself short, you have done an amazing job!! Giving yourself grace is going to be the most important thing this year (I’m doing more of that with the stress of my job)!

You can also fill in one box with text and use the little blue box in the highlighted cell to copy it to the wanted cells. It’s the same for equations and formulas

Oh my gosh.... the Daily Tabs folder. You are a genius. Just finished first week of virtual (chose to join the full time virtual teaching job so my kids wouldn’t be home alone on their “off” days during hybrid) I have 29 students from across our district. 21 are poverty and 13 are ESOL. They are precious, but we had SO many technical issues everyday across the district all week, that I had some days where I seriously thought about quitting. That level of stress and disfunction is unsustainable. I am praying things get better and it seems an impossible task, but those sweet children need help. I hope your start is much smoother. If anyone can excel at it, it will be you for sure. Then you can help us.

One thing I like about digital planning is that you can take your plans anywhere and easily change them. I like that you are honest with how you are feeling. It makes me feel like I'm not alone. :P

Time saver: if you click on the “explore” button in the bottom right hand corner, you can choose different color schemes, so you wouldn’t have to manually fill each row gray. :)

There's also, if you scroll down, a choice titled "alternating colors" that works in a similar way. I only discovered this option a couple months ago but I've been using it like crazy!

Thank you for sharing with us how the August monthly challenge didn’t really work out. I also had an INCREDIBLY difficult time motivating myself to do anything school related in July. There were too many unknowns and thinking about school just made me anxious and full of questions. It is comforting to know we aren’t alone in that.

Really appreciated that honesty and failures happen sometimes. When I hear that somebody else didn't quite accomplish what they set out, I feel more at ease knowing that it's okay. We are experiencing different amounts of stress and anxiety, and thank you for sharing all that you do! Also, I did not know we could leave our bookmarks without a name!! My bookmarks bar looks so much more appealing on my browser now!

You can alternate colors more easily! Highlight the table and go to Format > Alternating Colors. I've been playing around with Google Sheets a lot and am really enjoying it! I can link specific boxes from other documents!

This school year I am a senior in high school and I am in a class called future educators and I love it. The class gives us a chance to go into local elementary classrooms and help out and teach some lessons. However the year we are helping any teacher in our school district that wants help virtually. We are going to help students log on to schoology or any other websites the teacher is using. We have a block schedule so I can’t do this every day but the days we do I will be helping for four hours a day!! I am excited that I am going to get more hours to help prepare me for teaching. Hopefully, later in the year, if it’s safe enough my class will be able to go in person to the elementary classrooms to get more in person experience. Finally I want to say thank you to all the teacher out there for helping the students through this new form of learning and I hope you have a great year!!

What a lovely message, thank you! The "Future Educators" program sounds amazing, I hope you get to enjoy it as much as it's possible given these unprecedented circumstances. Think of this: if we ever have the need to suddenly shut down schools again, or if our traditional system of in-person teaching begins to go by the wayside, you'll be one of the "new bloods" who will help lead the way because you witnessed this enormous shift in thinking and doing as it was happening for the very first time. None of us was ready to pivot as fast as we needed to, yet here we are, collaborating with each other and building a new reality. You will be leagues ahead of us after experiencing this moment both as a student and as a future teacher. I wish for you a spectacular school year. Sending you good vibes from an empty (but full of hope) classroom in northern Virginia!

Irai Rod thank you for your kind message and inspiration. The Future Educators program really is a great program I was able to help out in a first grade classroom last year and it taught me more than I could of learned sitting in a classroom. It has helped me figure out what grade I would like to teach, I am hoping to help out a fourth grade class this year so I can figure out what grade level is for me.

Something our school uses in class dojo you can add all your students in to different classes you can take attendance give points and more stuff we find it really fun.

Honestly, school has started and I'm still overwhelmed thinking about it. Like i think about ideas i have, and they just...idk. I cna't think too much about it because it's stressing me out. We'll be digital until January as well.

There is also a google chrome extension is similar to how you created the daily folder. It’s called One Tab. One Tab allows you to save all of the tabs that you have open when you click on the One Tab extension at the end of the day. I personally have a lot of tabs that I need based on the day or week, like right now I have tabs open to track different assignments that are specific for the week that we are on. With One Tab, I can save all of those tabs at once and can shut down my computer without worrying about what websites I need to remember. The only thing I’m not sure on is if they translate from one computer to the next because my school google chrome and my home google chrome have different accounts as the main account.

tammimarie I’m going to setup a bookmarked folder like she has on my school computer tomorrow, but I think I will still be using OneTab, because I have tabs that I need specifically for a week that I don’t want to bookmark, but I also don’t want to go searching for every day.

Online teaching (I prefer the term Remote Teaching) is new to so many teachers and students. Our faculty is all over the map in terms of thoughts and feelings around this. If I can be so bold to offer any advice - embrace the positives. We lose some things, but we also gain some opportunities - embrace those positives. As always - great video and much appreciated.

I feel exactly the same.. as much as I wanted to get ready I couldn't because there were so unanswered questions. Everytime I did something, my school gave us new information that made my previous work useless which was so frustrating. One good thing (thanks to Bridget and you, and the current situation) is that this year I'm going completely digital!! Sadly I purchased a planner before I saw yours :( but for sure I'll use yours next year!! Good luck you'll be great this year too..and like you say..Stay possitive!! :)

Thanks for another great post. Our school year has been delayed a week for students...information has seems to change weekly here in Ontario. I know we are in person, everyone is masked, I had to take down all my decor because we had to remove all porous material...we still don’t have timetables but some how we will get through...

Thank you for this video! I kept thinking that I was almost done and either policies changed or I decided to do things a new/better/easier for students/easier for me way. I finally finished today for class tomorrow and forced myself to step away from the computer and enjoy dinner with my husband 😅 I don’t like seeing others struggle with our crazy situations, but it definitely makes me feel less alone.

Thank you for all of the tech advice. We have been back in session for 2.5 weeks. Our district switched to Canvas LMS this year instead of Google Classroom. It’s a lot harder to learn, but I’m getting better and I do think it is more versatile. I’ll be interested to see what your district chooses.

I teach middle school on a two-week rotation and I'm overwhelmed by the idea of digital planning, but I am ready to embrace it. I am hoping your product can be modified for my needs :)
