From his shuttered church in Seattle to his “cult” in Arizona, author and celebrity pastor Mark Driscoll has taken pastoral entitlement, bullying, and control to new lows. Even after Part 1 of Inside the Driscoll “Cult,” two former members of Driscoll’s security detail, Chad Freese and Ben Eneas, have much more to share.
In addition to shocking details on this cult of personality and family business, you’ll discover why the problem of Mark Driscoll is not an isolated story of a single abusive and self-serving pastor. It’s a story that exposes the devastation caused by the evangelical industrial complex or celebrity machine.

A big red flag with any church is when the Pastor is an "untouchable" and when there are levels of access to them. Every person in the church should have access to their pastor. Wow, and the way he sees people and wives/women, yikes! "Can't get their wives under _control?!?!"_ That's a huge red flag 😢

Except they say that Mark "founded" Mars Hill. But when that was going on, I read the very detailed writings of the wife of one of the elders they threw out (which I believe). According to her, Mars Hill was a church (not sure about the name) long before Driscoll showed up, all "humble" brother and everything. He worked his way into the elders, then when all his opposing elders were out of town, his guys called an "emergency" meeting and threw out all the other elders, giving him unopposed rule at the church he "steeplejacked". And the bodies started piling up behind his bus. I read that the guy who had a hit with "I hate religion, but love Jesus"--Jeff Bethke?--was one of _his_ elders!?! Not sure that ANYTHING I read is true, but this is what I read.

This was a great episode. I’m glad I found your podcast. When Trinity church stated in Scottsdale about 8 years ago, I considered attending but first did some research on the pastor. From what I read by multiple sources, Mark Driscoll did not fulfill the requirements of a pastor for a church that I wanted to attend. I drive by that church sometimes and on Sundays it seems very busy so, about a year ago, I thought let me check into it again because maybe that pastor is no longer there. I did some research and again, I concluded that he was still pastor and no, I would not like to be a part of it nor even visit. My son text me last night and said he was attending church this morning and would I like to go. I heard back from him today and he sent me a link for the online sermon. I watched a little bit but was sad to see his mockery of others. I text my son back that even a broken clock is right 2 times a day. How sad that God’s word is not being taught correctly. It caused me to do a deeper dive to see what’s really going on there and sadly, none of what I have found is that kind of church is not building up the Kingdom of God and it is not loving and shepherding others in the way that it should. Thank you for these interviews and shedding light on what is really happening at this “church.” God bless Chad and Ben for coming forward and sharing their experiences. People need to know the truth.

I attended Mars Hill from 2006-2008. At some point, Mark snapped. He now associates with pastors he once called out for heresy. I remember him talking about demons and being woken from sleep and feeling the presence of a demon, crushing his chest and choking him. Seems the demon won the battle.
@PamalaNEW

I find it interesting that I've heard that exact testimony from a lot of people. The testimony where they say that it felt like someone was sitting on their chests and choking them! Makes me wonder if the testimony is a true testimony coming from the holy Spirit or if that is something demonic. I mean like maybe that's the testimony of a demon. How could that many people have the same exact testimony? It's a bit too precise to fit so many people. Maybe it's a spiritual wickedness hiding.

@@PamalaNEW It's called sleep paralysis. People get it all the time. It feels like an unseen force sitting on your chest when really it's the fact that your body's muscles are still frozen in place while you're half-awake to keep you from acting out your dreams. The fact that Christians are still over-spiritualizing proven scientific phenomena does not help our case at all. While demons can take advantage of sleep paralysis and I'm sure there are examples of genuinely paranormal things happening (just as one can get strange nightmares from occult activity), there needs to be more evidence than just "I FELT like it was a demon so it was one."

Character flaws of a cult leader - no humility or kindness, projection and deflection. No ability to admit that they are wrong. Never goes on other peoples platforms for fear of being exposed. If they do, they try to turn into the interviewer. This is a sign of cowardness, weakness and insecurity. They project these charácter flaws onto other people to deflect attention from them.

The number one indicator of savage wolves: hierarchy In Acts 20, the Holy Spirit uses Paul to indicate that every church generation will face savage wolves. Paul leaves the blue-print for safeguardiing against the wolves. Unfortunately, Paul's example of sufferings and sacrifice in the Gospel has been pushed to the perimeter of the preaching as churches seek to accumulate paying clientelle. Strangely enough, Paul tells the Ephesian elders that AFTER he leaves savage wolves will come in. What else is the Spirit saying? When Paul's sufferings leave the preaching platform, the savage wolves have free reign. CHURCH, ARE YOU HEARING WHAT THE SPIRIT IS SAYING? PREACH PAUL'S SUFFERINGS WITH REGULARITY, CLARITY AND EMPHASIS AND SAFEGUARD THE CHURCH FROM THE WOLVES. PAUL'S SUFFERINGS AS CAPTURED IN SCRIPTURE SHOW US THE AFFLICTIONS OF CHRIST, THE TRUE SAFEGUARD OF THE CHURCH.
