The interview with Irina of Fiberchats was fascinating. It gave me insights into my knitting journey as a kid learning from my Polish farmgirl grandmother who taught me how to knit and crochet and garden and make borscht and perogies and cabbage rolls. And why my Mom had no interest in learning how to do any of it. I have followed Irina since I started doing Stephen West MKALs, but it was great to see her being interviewed! I would love to meet her in person. And if she does another Beginners Shetland Lace knit along, I will be signing up!!

So nice to see you two together. I find it stimulating to know there will be many interesting classes to learn from this year. If anyone wants to use Kindness as their inspirational word of the year, please do so, there in no copyright on Kindness, if it feels right for YOU just join, I would be happy to know many of us will carry Kindness in our thoughts, hearts, words and actions, even when challenged ... I am so glad you interviewed Irina, she is the one so open-minded, always asking the best questions to allow us to discover many creative persons. I love to learn more about her. I was quite surprised about the Russian curiculum when she was a child ... If you choose to do a steeking KAL this year, i'll sure join, I just bought a pattern from Skeindeer Knits, the Stonewood Mini Cardigan, it has a steek. Skeindeer Knits does need a bit of help these days, so think of checking her patterns and please support her if you can.

Hi ladies! What do you use for reinforcing yarn in your socks? I would love to add some to my handspun yarn. Btw, I want to thank you, Cynthia, for all your encouragement in Ann Budd’s class…Alice here. You ladies are the best!
@Yarniversity
@Yarniversity 5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much, Alice. I usually use a reinforcing yarn made for socks. Something like this: www.estelleyarns.com/items/1883. But if you wanted to spin a thread into your handspun yarn, you might try adding a ply of lace weight silk. You can add a thin nylon thread but I think a strand of silk lace weight added in when you ply your yarn would be so nice.

Barb, I love those Christmas stockings that I saw in the background when you were talking to Irina. Is there a pattern or were you winging it?
@Yarniversity
@Yarniversity 6 ай бұрын
Hi Cathy, it's Cynthia replying. One of the stockings is our Epic Christmas Stocking. You can find it here: rivercityyarns.com/collections/rcy-original-designs/products/rcy-epic-christmas-stocking. The other one is a Cat Bordhi design. It's called the "Enchanted Forest Christmas Stocking" and it's from Cat's book, "A Treasury of Magical Knitting".
