3. Finding efficiencies in the listing process
In the video I give an example of creating your first listing from start to finish including research, design tools, and publishing the listing using Printify.

As luck would have it, on the same day I published this video Printify has updated their pricing table in the listing creation view so that the profit calculation now includes Etsy seller fees.

You are the best at explaining the process. I am an elementary school teacher and have trouble understanding others in their videos , because they are explaining the process as if we already know what they know. I do not know anything at all about the process. Your are great at explaining and being very thorough about it. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR APPROACH IN TEACHING THE PROCESS.

Hi Jeff, I've watched this several times to fully understand what is needed to create the listing. Just getting started with POD so still working full time. Although I'm based in the UK, I've chosen the US as my target market. I know you're in the US so your country's currency shows up in the listing, however my question is - when I put in the pricing on the product listing for selling price and shipping, will the customer in the US see the amount in US dollars or British pounds (GBP). Thank you for your great content, you present it very well.

I am glad that I found you. In a short period of time, I have almost watched all of your Printify videos. I was just starting out and have completed all my branding. So, if I want to go with this strategy, do I have to change my store name to include mugs? One request if possible: Please make a step-by-step tutorial with Gelato as well. Thanks 😊

4:52 I have heard a store with only mugs or shirts is a bad idea because it’s so saturated and it’s hard to break in. I’ve heard to focus on a customer and niche and add in different products fitting into that

It's all about niches and demand - I sell plenty of t-shirts and mugs in my primary Etsy POD shop. I believe the "it's too saturated" argument is very short-sighted and there is absolutely still opportunity.

Printify has made changes in their pricing table? Just when I was starting to understand this process...I copy/pasted below. I would LOVE your guidance on what this all means and if this changes my shipping profiles currently set up. By default, shipping is not included in your retail price. The "Buyer shipping cost" column reflects what your buyer will pay for shipping. If "Free shipping" is enabled, the cost of the cheapest shipping option available will be included in your retail price. This allows you to offer free shipping for your customers. Most Etsy fees are already included in the price table (see the “Etsy fees” column). However, you can also choose to include off-site ad fees (if needed).

Wow what are the odds that Printify would update the price table on the day that I publish this video? Looks like they now reflect Etsy seller fees in their profit percentage and that "free shipping" toggle is a beta feature if you want to calculate the profit with shipping included in the price. This won't impact your existing shipping profiles on Etsy though, so if you already set your pricing and select an existing shipping profile from the drop-down menu when publishing, the new feature does not impact anything. If you leave the shipping profile as "automatically create" and select the "free shipping" option, Printify will publish a new shipping profile with the listing and free shipping instead of a price for shipping - but you still have to enter the appropriate product price to cover the shipping. If you have an established shipping profile for your products, you can select that when publishing and set your prices as you normally would.

Hi, is it possible to sell customized products on Printify Pop Up? For example, can the end customer choose a name to add to the design?

When I updated the SKU numbers in ETSY for a customization item, it changes the status of the listing to inactive. On the Printify side , the customized listing is hidden. Does that sound right?

So I followed your instructions for a custom tshirt and changed the name of the UPC code but every two weeks for some reason, my customized listings change their status to Inactive so I have to go in and republish them. Has this ever happened to you? Not sure what I am missing 🤷🏻‍♀️. Thanks!

If you were to sell two different products in your POD shop, and if they are from two different providers, how do you explain this to a customer who might order one mug and one T-shirt in one order and then they may wonder why they’re coming from two different places?

When you copy a listing in Printify, will it have the same sku number as the original?

No, Printify generates new SKU numbers when you duplicate a listing so it does not cause any order sync issues for the original listing.

Hi, If you just started and have 50 products, ex I have phone cases mugs and totes, now I change my mind and want to remove the phone cases, do you think this will hurt my store to delete items? Also I started in February 2024 and no sales can you it's time to close shop?

If you want to change directions and go with a different product for your shop, I would recommend deleting the existing listings rather than closing the shop. You can re-brand your shop if needed but it's already been approved and indexed by Etsy, so you won't have to go through that process again. It can take a while to start getting sales so don't give up!

It's not available for all product types yet, but if you're looking at the most common apparel products like a bella canvas 3001 t-shirt you should see the option for backgrounds on the preview page.

Key elements missing. How many products do you have to list to make it worthwhile? Do you leave those product designs up all year every year? Do you submit copyright on each and every product design? Don't say it's automatic, because in reality, that means little. Are all your designs ripped off by entities outside of the US? Why would you spend any significant time on a design knowing it will be ripped off within a week if it sells well? You get undercut on price and your numbers go in the toilet. Recourse legally...none. So you are essentially just spewing random blobs of digital paint on a canvas like Pollock and tossing in some text in hopes that it will sell a few hundred before it crashes and burns. Absolutely zero reliability in income. Keep your day job unless you like massive uncertainty in actually paying your bills.
