Shaper & Elder Part 2 - Valdo, Zana's father, believes he is the only one who can stop the Elder from returning to Wraeclast from his dreamlands and feasting once more on the memories of children. Zana recreated the map device her father was working on so that we could find him, but we find much more.

Fun fact from Affliction league 3 years later - we can pick warlock ascendancy and see creature type, whe you get keys for Shaper in shaper realm he is Humanoid, but when you fight elder or uber elder shaper creature type changes to Eldrich

GGG enjoys jabbing at their fanbase and breaking the fourth wall. "This world is an illusion, exile" "Still sane, exiles?" We kill literal gods in Fall of Oriath. And then Conquerors of the Atlas... which basically tells the players that "you all are power hungry and need to be put down"

I remember reading this somewhere - prior to War for the Atlas Shaper had another story - he wanted to protect Oriath (and Zana) from Venarius using Map Device. He had full understanding of how Map Device and Dream Lands work and Venarius became aware of that. 4 high ranking Templar were dispatched to apprehend Shaper but he decided to flee interrogations and lock himself with his captors up within map device. He later proceeded to create worlds in hope Zana will discover him some time later and they will live happily forever after. Gradually he lost his mind and you needed to fight him for some reason.

Just a quick note, with 3.9 Conquerors Of The Atlas, you hear the Shaper's voiceline of "One of my captors" anytime you enter a shaper guardian map.

the "one of my captors" lines were originally in the game in 2.4 but taken out with war for the atlas aswell. they now returned to the shaper guardian maps, so you can hear them once more

You had entirely too much fun acting out the Shaper and Zana! Nice job over all. It's nice to have a more complete story for those of us that never made it to the Shaper, much less the Elder.

Before War for the Atlas, any time you entered an uncompleted map, Shaper gave his line for that map (and "One of my captors" were the lines corresponding to the guardian maps). During War for the Atlas, those lines are said when you enter a Shaper influenced map, as such, you can only hear the guardian lines when you are guiding Elder towards the center (as guardian maps cannot be influenced by Shaper unless there is an Elder influenced map adjacent). Now they play when you enter any guardian map.

It's really a shame that they removed all this from the game. I just realized that when a newer player fights the Shaper for the first time that's the first time they see Zana and they'll be like "who's this chick?" Damn shame

Thank you for summing these expansions up. I started in 3.9 so i've never played the "War of the Atlas" Atlas endgame, and i have to say i was damn curious about these bosses' lore. It was really interesting and exciting to watch , especially with your voice overs:)) I've also watched it after your 10 acts series so it was really entertaining and felt like a big movie of PoE. I am happy that anyone can watch the story of the Atlas after 3.9 with your videos:)) Thank you Exile! Side question: Do you planning to do a video about the Conqueror's of the Atlas expansion? Although it may not have enough lore to cover at the current state, hopefully future patch will give more information about Sirus, and his team as "their way on maddness".

Couldn't the Shaper's guardians be the guards who took Valdo to the dreamland with the High Templar? These could be his "Captors" who have been twisted and converted after being feasted upon by the Elder.

I love that! It could be. If we knew how many men went with Venarius into the dreamland's it'd be easier to guess. But that would be super cool

I do suspect this as their fate is unaccounted for. We know valdo fled and Venarius had his brains eaten out (for lack of a better word).

originally the Guardians were four people (guards?) that were holding onto Valdo as he tried to escape High templar Venarius. Shaper himself distorted them trying to get them to release him as he escaped into the dreamworld.

I always wondered why we just barge into parts of other worlds and committing mass murder to its residence, I thought that the crave for power has just driven our exile mad and the end always justify the means. Now it make sense that maps are fragments of worlds that’s created by the shaper.
