For those curious, the poem is "Address to a Haggis" by Robert Burns, and it goes: Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddin'-race! Aboon them a' ye tak yer place, Painch, tripe, or thairm: Weel are ye wordy o' a grace As lang's my airm.

Stephen Fry is actually awesome. How fascinated he was when MacAulay recited Burns. As one of the few very intelligent people on television, he totally shines with enthusiasm to learn more. If anyone hasn't already done so, check out the intelligence debate where Fry talks about Catholicism. Going for a beer with that guy would be a right eye opener. His books are also brilliant!

"Plain English," maybe better known to Burns as the "Occupier's Tongue."

While German Chancellor Helmut Kohl would serve goetta, his favorite meal, to visiting foreign dignities. Geotta is a lower German pork haggis. Presumably not to either Israeli or Muslim guests.

Don't laugh. Retranslations are tricky still today. There was an online translation website called BabbleFish, which teachers in a large SoCal school district used to write report cards for the Mexican students in Spanish (PLEASE. The Mexicans do NOT speak Spanish. We had a woman from Spain as a teacher at our site and she was horrified when the parents didn't understand half of what she said.) In any case, someone had the bright idea to re-translate the Spanish translation BACK into English. It said something ENTIRELY different than the first English translation. After that, we had translators (and that wasn't fool-proof, either, as the translators were clerical personnel whose command of English wasn't as accurate as was needed to inform the parents of a child's mastery of a concept, or lack thereof, or what remedies needed to be taken to bring the student up to speed.

@TheFarmerjoe Even though I'm a Catholic, I'm a fan of Stephen Fry. I'd watched him on the Intelligence Squared debate and he was so good. I would love to meet him. :D

What does you being catholic have anything to do with Stephen Fry? Him being gay or what? Just get over yourself and just say "Stephen Fry was good and I'd like to meet him". Don't explain things nobody asked for.

Basically what he said in a nutshell. That the Haggis is the most beautiful (well attractive) and the best sausage of all sausages (above them all) and states that it is full of Stomach, Tripe and intestines.

I literally cannot stand Stephen Fry, he is like a cartoon, an obnoxious character, I saw him once in Mayfair, he looked like he had been sleeping in his suit, he wants to be remembered as an Oscar Wilder but I see him just laying down so the establishment walk over him to save them getting their Gucci's wet.
