The Dave Bass Trio performs the classic Ahmad Jamal version of "Poinciana" at the Midtown Vanguard Jazz Series on 6/14/2020, in Sacramento CA. This was a live streaming concert.

Ahmad's arrangement and Vernel's drumming are so so so good, we felt it unnecessary to add more than a few little things. Lots of fun to play.

Man, what a great rendition of the Ahmad Jamal's classic, Poinciana. Everyone knows that tune and what a challenge it must be to do something "new" with it. The thing going through my head the whole time was Hip....Modern...It sounded very modern without losing any of it's classic characteristics.

Incredible version, played it again straight after. The first take on Poinciana I ever heard was by Manhattan Transfer. This is just as great and quite different to theirs.
