You were up early. That morning time was sounding very peaceful with the birds chirping. Those ocean views were beautiful

Mornings in the wilderness is probably my favorite part of backpacking. Everything is so quiet and still. Yeah the views out there are fantastic. Thanks!

Great video. My son and I are going here on our first backpacking trip next month. I was able to reserve one night at Glen and one at Coast. I was really hoping to get Wildcat instead of Glen but now that I see how beautiful it is I’m looking forward to it!

Beautiful place and nice looking video! Trying to figure out where to backpack in this heat. Probably over near the coast, don't know where yet. Coe will kill me!

@@outsidewithmike Thanks man. These days it's brutal everywhere except for the coast. So just Point Reyes basically. I might look toward the Sierra soon.

Glen camp looks nice, In the morning with the sun light and all the ferns seems very peaceful. I prefer Wild camp because it is right next to the ocean. Downside is it is pretty exposed and your pretty much pitching in a grassy field. How do you like the cold soaking food? Glad you made it safely to the beach.

I'm glad I had a spot at Glen since there were gale winds. Not sure how it would have been at Wildcat right next to the beach but I imagine it would have been brutal at Coast camp. I'm getting used to cold soaking. Couscous seems to work the best so far. I usually cold soak oatmeal anyway so no difference there. Freeze dried refried beans works great too. I still refuse to cold soak ramen. That just seems wrong lol.

Looks like your brother and nephew also enjoying this lifestyle, always nice when you can have company :) need to make it out there this summer. Assuming no mosquitoes?

Yeah it was nice. I didn't get to spend time with my nephew during Spring break so wanted him to go on this trip. I have enough gear for everyone so they didn't have to spend money on a tent or backpack. Both him and my brother are in much better shape than me. My nephew does cross country and track and my brother has been entering half marathons. Mosquitoes weren't too bad with the wind but I got bit a few times.

@@rodoutdoors brother and nephew getting more comfortable on camera too 👍 Didn’t know if I missed it, but did you measure pack weight like you usually do before and after?
@rodoutdoors
@rodoutdoors 2 ай бұрын
@@Prasannathani I forgot about the end weights. I recorded the beginning weights but just didn't put it in the video. My pack was 23 lbs. My nephew's was around the same at 23 lbs. My brother carried 26 lbs. So not too bad.

Nice hike to the camp spot, did you have to camp in a designated spot ? Seeing the bench etc Cheers

Yes I had to reserve a spot ahead of time. It's usually fairly difficult to find a spot during the Summer but it was on a Sunday plus the weather was forecast for gale winds at the coast. I figure there would be some cancellations. I was able to secure a spot only a few days prior to the trip. The food lockers were recently updated so there's no more worries about mice getting in. One of the worries of high traffic camp spots. For the local place I usually go it doesn't matter. I can show up anytime with no reservation or permit and can pitch a tarp and bivy almost anywhere. There's just a small backpacking and parking fee. Thanks for watching!

Thanks! I had it packed initially but ended up bringing more food and gear for everyone. So switched it up at the parking lot when we were distributing all my gear.
