Thanks for this. I get all the way to the "Choose a custom URL from your verified domains" window and when I enter "www" I get an error message "Custom URL already taken" Why? How? I can't seem to get past it. My domain was registered with Google Domains (which I guess is being migrated to Squarespace). I had to edit my A Records on an ENOM page. I see that there is a Host Name in the Host Records that is "www" with "ghs.google.com" in the address field, and the Record Type is "CNAME (Alias)". Might that have something to do with it? Should that be deleted? TIA!

I do this over squarespace and it is little bit different so that's why I can not finnish it like you did. By the way this is great and helpfull video

how do you do this if you do not have a google admin console? I am trying to do another without a google workspace account. I am getting this error: 404. That’s an error. The requested URL / was not found on this server. That’s all we know.

Very informative! I keep getting Custom URL already taken when getting to enter the www. for the CNAME portion in Google. The domain was used as an old site that Google took down because we did not convert in time. Any ideas?

Check to make sure you are editing from the actual name servers. Who is your domain provider?

Network Solutions is our provider. Where might I locate the actual name servers? Your video has me so much closer than most of the other "noise" on the internet, so I thank you!

I'm having a bit of difficulty as my site is coming up with 404 error without the use of www. Tried to use redirect but unable to use with third party provider.

Did you add a CNAME record, leave the subdomain empty, and adding GHS.GOOGLEHOSTED.COM?
