Was just going to say... It’s often bad sound quality but this is like OMG bad and it’s really sad since a lot of people could really benefit from hearing the things properly. I just watch these videos for entertainment as I am not a dancer but wanted to try ballet when younger

Honestly once I was like two minutes into the video I didn’t really notice it anymore. These studios are probably really hard to record audio in, as there’s nothing to absorb the sound, all the surfaces are great at causing reverb which can make it challenging to clearly hear!

It’s always so interesting to see how many different kinds of shoes are out there and how much is put into the shoe by the dancer to make the shoes just right. I’m not even a dancer, but did want to try ballet when younger and have always wanted to try pointe shoes on even if I just stand flat lol Pointe shoes are just so pretty and I may even buy a pair one day just to have as home decor on a wall or shelf

I've been dancing with a tapered box, it's one particular shoe, for several years off and on and they recently started putting a lot of pressure on my left pinkie toe. I tend to sink in square boxes, which bruises my big toe. Any thoughts?

I have 3 feet and 1 of them faces 180 degrees in the opposite direction of the other 2. It's always pain to have to buy 2 pairs instead of just 1.5 pairs because the 4th shoe never gets worn as much as the other 3. But I do keep it as a backup, which is a good thing. 🦶🏻🦶🏻🦶🏻

Dancer05 stay pulled up, no matter what you are doing, always think about using your technique to the fullest. Also stay stacked over your shoes, new pointe dancers tend to lean backwards when on pointe. Try to lean forward more.

I am planning on going to The Pointe Shop sometime in November (it’s a little over an hour from where I live), but in the mean-time, can anyone verify that softer pointe shoes can injure the Achilles’ tendon ? My first pair of pointe shoes were Bloch European Balances with extra strong shanks and I felt very supported in them, but had an issue with sinking after a couple of months. Switched to Grishko Novas with medium shanks and the shoes feel too soft and my achilles hurt constantly. I did injure my left Achilles when I was teen (late 30s now), so maybe some of the pain is from that, but just wondering if anyone else has experience with this ? Should I ask for stronger shanks from now on ?
@ThePointeShop
@ThePointeShop 4 жыл бұрын
Great question. this is 100% dependent on the dancer. Sometimes the shoe is too soft, hard, tapered, wide... The individual dancer reacts differently to different types of shoes and shanks.
@tenyc3449
@tenyc3449 4 жыл бұрын
@@ThePointeShop, thank you for the response. I'm definitely looking forward to getting a different pair of shoes to hopefully save the achilles. :)

If I was a dancer I swear my ocd would not let me cut up my brand new shoes like that. Obviously it needs to happen but eeeeek it makes me cringe. How do you figure out what you need to do to make your shoes comfy? I mean how does one determine one foot needs one thing and the other is totally different, I know it doesn’t look that different but it is. Do you just go through multiple shoes figuring it out?
@arielburrow9433
@arielburrow9433 4 жыл бұрын
CovynX X You go through a bunch of shoes, and it’s trial and error. If we cut down a vamp or darn or whatever, it’s usually on a dead pair of shoes and if we like it, we’ll do it to our current shoes. Often, dancers will be told “try this” or “maybe you should darn” and so that’s why they’ll try it
@covynxx718
@covynxx718 4 жыл бұрын
Ariel Burrow this is going to sound dumb but if the shoes are dead, aren’t they deemed unusable because they are too broken in? So modifications to those seems like it would still be iffy. Also thank you for explaining 😊
@arielburrow9433
@arielburrow9433 4 жыл бұрын
CovynX X It’s not dumb! So, when a pair is dead, they really can’t be ruined. So that’s a great way to find out how to darn, and how it affects your balance (even in dead shoes, you can feel a difference), etc. since they can’t be ruined, it’s a great way to figure out how much of your support is taken away.
