Poison spider mesa trail takes you up to the top of the western cliffs overlooking Moab. Rated as difficult, but can be run by a stock Jeep JK without lockers.

Your channel made me get my jeep. I just wish I could of found a tan one. Went with white instead. Love your videos

It's 80% driver and 20% vehicle. I'm not saying a world-class driver can drive Pritchett Canyon in a bone stock TJ with 205s but my wife and I drove Elephant Hill and Lockhart Basin in a bone stock Isuzu Trooper with 235s. Whatever 4WD vehicle you choose, if you just drive it where you "know" you have the capability to take it without breaking it, you will find that you will gradually be able to negotiate more and more challenging roads and "know" that you can because you know what you are doing. Enjoy.

i did this trail on a dirtbike last summer. i cant believe that jeeps can make it through that stuff. i mean some of it was pretty hard on bikes! i just bought a jeep. needs a little work, and its not nearly as nice as these. but it will get me up in the mountains for some fun! and thats what matters! sweet video! these drivers have serious skill. i hope to bring my jeep down there one day

Looks like a lot of people running AT tires....not ideal but it looks like they are doing the job...until it gets wet lol. Nice vid! Can't wait to do Moab someday!

Thanks, kinda funny I wish I had white or the new tan is very nice, the tan JK in the vid was a brand new 2012...he was a great guy, just asked to tag along when we were meeting to head out in the parking lot, and he came a wisker away from flopping it on its side.

Most Moab hotels have a locked room to store your mountain bikes or Jeep doors, if the area is remote enough we leave them out in the open near the staging area, but this obviously has some risk

Just a question, where does everyone leave their Jeep Doors when they head out there?

rubicon trail, fordyce, tons of other norcal trails (that are currently closed due to BS). lots of stuff in socal too. get online and join some forums and find a local 4x4 club. they'll take you out and show you the ropes.

Hey can a stock Jeep with stock suspension and stock wheels go on that trail? just wondering.
@crawlerutah5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the tan just kidding was stock, just take careful lines and use a spotter on the more difficult parts. He got in trouble going at an angle over the steeper part of a ledge. There are easier and harder lines to take based on your rig.

How difficult was it for the Stock, lockerless Jeep? We have a group going down soon. All of us have JKU's with 2.5" BB lifts with 35's. No Lockers and no winches on any of them. Thoughts and Suggestions are very appreciated.
@cavediverjc9 жыл бұрын
Lockers make a night and day difference in which lines you can take to traverse an obstacle. You CAN do PST without lockers, but you're going to have to get creative in all of the bypasses you'll be doing, and to be honest, you'll be missing a lot of what makes it Poison Spider Trail. As for winches, they're the cheapest offroad insurance you'll ever buy. They might seem pricey at first, but they'll get you home, assuming your Jeep is just stuck and not broken. They help you to go from a stuck situation to an unstuck situation instead of from a stuck situation to a broken situation after you thrash so hard on your Jeep because it's stuck. Check Craigslist and local Jeep clubs for people selling winches. Buy a reputable brand and you should be able to get replacement parts. I bought my first two winches from guys in my Jeep club who were either upgrading winches or selling their Jeeps. No one ever says "I wish I hadn't bought this winch"... :)

Don't get me wrong the 4 doors are more practical, but am I the only one who prefers the more original 2 door jeeps?
@cavediverjc9 жыл бұрын
I have a 2-door Rubicon and a 4-door Sahara (and a '93 YJ :) I love how my Rubicon can navigate the tighter trails and the rocks where breakover is a concern, but the 4-door actually surprised me with its ability to wheel. A Sahara doesn't have near the offroad goodies that a Rubi does, but for what it is (my wife's rig), I can't really complain. Plus, we have (2) 100 pound German Shepherds so we need the 4-door to haul those beasts around! Hahaha I prefer my 2-door Rubi offroad and I prefer my (wife's) 4-door Sahara for roadtrips. :)

The person in the green jeep had problems cuz he had street tires not off-roading tires and the one in the tan jeep was too lowered it wasn't raised enough

no lockers and no winch not a good idea, theres plenty of other people on the trail with winches to help but ur go na have a hell of a time without lockers

My parents didi it with a stock Pathfinder and I had a 76 F250. You don't need lockers or any fancy equipment, just planning and patience.

Your Jeep's look STOCK

Some of the jeeps were pretty close to stock in this video. A stock jeep can do some crazy stuff and in the right hands would surprise a lot of people.

Too many fucking 4 doors.
@RED_ONE_BOWHUNTING9 жыл бұрын
WTF is wrong with a 4 door? Longer wheel base is what you want...this is also why so many people love the XJ.
@Lex-Rex9 жыл бұрын
Nothing is wrong with them if you like a grocery getter. My two door has a 8in rear stretch. The majority of 4 door JKs don't even see dirt.
@RED_ONE_BOWHUNTING9 жыл бұрын
check the picture in my profile...JKUR 3.5 inch lift, 35inch Toyo Open Country RTs, Carolina Drivline shafts, Poison Spyder bumper, superwinch, Teraflex hinge tire carrier, etc etc.....yeah it sees plenty of dirt. And yes I need to get groceries...it's called life and you need to go out and get food occasionally lol. I wheel mine hard as well. The unlimited (4 doors) is the ideal jeep set up whether you want to believe it or not...most people can't afford them...they are pricey.
@Lex-Rex9 жыл бұрын
I'm was just trolling LOL. I don't care what you drive as long as it is not a pavement princess.
@RED_ONE_BOWHUNTING9 жыл бұрын
same can be said about 2 door princesses who never see dirt haha! Anways I have a family of four and a Dutch Shepherd so the 4 door meets all my needs...it's nice to have extra room in the back...that's where the dog and cooler go! ;)
