Pokemon heights. I reject their reality and substitute my own.

Mega Alakazam probably got shorter because he looks like he grows a LOT older.

My theory on how they weight diglett/dugtrio "Hey Professor, I can't get this Diglett out of his hole! I can't weight it" "Meh, he looks about 1.8 lbs" "So does that mean Dugtrio is about 5.4 lbs?" "Hell no, that thing is 73 lbs!" "But it's just 3 Digetts put togeth-" "WHOSE THE PROFESSOR HERE? *drinks bottle of beer*"

Once again, Dunsparce's and Furret's "height" are their lengths. Wasn't it like Dratini or Dragonair last time or something?

I love how it actually looked like Groudon was hunching over! Still, the fact that the heaviest Pokemon in the series is only 3.5m long really does produce some questions.

I thought about it and Mega Alakazam's height reduction actually makes sense. What most people might not realize is that once your reach a certain point of age, your body will actually start to *shrink* a bit from old age. Since Alakazam is of the human-like egg group, it probably share certain genetic traits to humans, including how we physically age. Since Mega Alakazam has such a big white beard instead of its yellow moustache, mega evolution probably rapidly ages Alakazam to increase its mental powers. While this made Alakazam's psychic powers strong, its physical body suffered from the aging process, causing it to both grow a huge beard and shrink from its normal size.

Better way to analyze: 1. Look at the Pokemon in the anime. 2. Open Pokedex profile. 3. Yell "WAT?!". 4. ??? 5. Profit.

What about Regigigas? The pokedex says that it's 12'02" and weighs about 925lbs. While that may not seem too strange, the pokedex describes Regigigas as a "Pokémon that tows continents with ropes." To me, a pokemon that's a only about twice my height being able to tow a continent seems a little absurd.

Something I liked about Colosseum and XD was that the Pokemon models were scaled to each other. A Roselia was tiny, and a Wailord was huge. In X and Y, they didn't even try to make the sizes look remotely accurate.

I always assumed the 'dex entries were averages or something. It'd make more sense to think that a younger Pokemon might be smaller than a mature one.

Reshiram is 10'6 Zekrom is 9'6" In Black/White there is a scene near the end in which Zekrom/Reshiram is besides N and is only a bit bigger.. Either these were runt legendaries, or humans in Pokemon are giants.

17 feet 9" 1,505.8 pounds That's Dialga. Dialga. A Dragon and Steel type. Elephants are smaller than it and they way many tons! A ton is 2,000 pounds. And Dialga is made of steel too, which is HEAVY. Where's the logic here?

I did the measurements on my Game Boy screen, and apparently Mario (in Super Mario Bros 3) is actually less than half an inch tall. Incredible.

The magnemite-magneton thing is just physics. Magnets gain weight multiplicatively, because they pull on the scale that weighs them harder.

There are 45 Pokemon at 4'11. It's not even the most popular height. 3'11 is at 48 Pokemon

There is one problem with this that contradicts everything: the anime. The anime sizes are way different from the pokedex sizes, at least in some cases.

Interesting pokemon fact of the day... When ash find his pidgeotto, it is feeding on a worm... the only time and episode where they show a non-pokemon creature that exists in the world.

The Curious thing about Magnimite and Magniton. Magniton may infact be much more dense upon evolving, also it being a magnet Pokemon, could also factor into the increased weight. Also consider that its a floating pokemon and that it is infact made of magnets its actual weight may be entirely unknown.

I've come up with a fix for this: Pokemon grow in size as they level up, so a level 36 Charizard is 5'09" but a level 100 Charizard can be much taller. This is just my explanation for it, but I think it works

In ORAS, there's a cutscene where you ride on the back of Groudon/Kyogre before they do the primordial reversion thing, and I was genuinely surprised at just how small they were as you rode them. But then the reversion thing happens and they suddenly grow huge, though.

They should really tweek the sizes and weights of pokemon, make them more realistic

I think Alakazam's mega-evolution makes sense. He gets older, grows out a long beard and shrinks like a normal person. It's logical.

the magnemite/magneton mystery is pretty easy to solve. when they bond, they gain weight by the bonding energy, like in atoms.

Now that Sun and Moon have released, you should definitely do a part 3. Mudsdale is now the heaviest non-Mega non-legendary Pokémon, beating out the likes of Snorlax, Avalugg, and even some legendaries like Perfect Zygarde and Giratina! The heaviest overall Pokémon now is Celesteela (which makes at least a decent amount of since, given that it's 30 ft tall and made out of steel pillars) but it's tied with Cosmoem, an unevolved Pokémon which is nearly 5 times heavier than it's potential evolution, Sogaleo, and nearly TEN times heavier than its other evolution, Lunala! And yet, somehow, Lillie is able to carry it in her bag for several hours, in-game. Jesus Christ! Lillie must be ripped! You might be wondering how Cosmoem fits into a bag then. Well, it's pretty simple. Cosmoem is the FIFTH SHORTEST POK´EMON at only FOUR INCHES! Even its pre-evolution is twice its size! And, while I'm sure that there are other examples of ludicrously sized Pokémon in SuMo, I'd like to close off with Kartana, the cool new Ultra Beast that is made of steel and looks about the size of a human... but is only a foot tall and 0.2 pounds. Knowing that, it suddenly got a whole lot less intimidating. See what other weird Sun and Moon sizes you can find because, personally, I find this stuff fascinating!

Speaking of the absurdity of Pokemon sizes, I've always loved the fact that Sentret is capable of learning Surf. A tiny little 2'07" mammal weighing in at just over 13 pounds is capable of carrying a ten year old across the freaking ocean. Even considering buoyancy effects weight in the water, I still fail to see how that makes any sense.

Mind you, the Pokedex also keeps giving misinformation on what exactly Exeggcute even is so....can you really trust it? I just go by what the Anime says for sizes. Is it 100% canon? No...but it's a lot more believable.

I think someof these (like Furret and Mega-Alakazam) are not measured from head to toe, but rather from head to tail. I'm 5'5", so I think it would be more accurate that a Furret would be six feet long rather than six feet tall. Still, that's a big ferret.
