I agree. Lance was the guy who would decimate your entire team if you weren't ready, and even if you were, the whole fight was a struggle until the very end. And with a rather annoying Elite Four to fight just to face him, he deserved all the challenge he put out. Gary/Blue at least gave you a clue as to what you'd be facing, since you fought him multiple times up until then. Steven and Wallace used pretty easy to counter types (I swept most of Wallace's team with a Pellipper that knew Shockwave). Cynthia's only real challenging bit was her Elite Four and her Garchomp. Alder was easy, it was his Elite Four that gave me nightmares. Iris was a nice throwback, but still fairly easy to beat. And Diantha was super easy, just like her Elite Four.

Erick Delgado I don't know if you took Lance and put him into any of the more modern games he would be even stronger than before in comparison Cynthia was easier for me.

Shinigamimon Erick Delgado Ehh, I was able to easily counter all those Dragonites with Ice Beam, plus Aerodactyl. My Jolteon made short work of Charizard and Gyrados. But, his buffed up team with Charizard, Garchomp, Altaria, Dragonite, Salamence and Gyrados would easily shred Cynthia. Plus his theme shredded Cynthia's theme as well.

Phoenix Wrong Anyone could easily one hit Cynthia's pokemon or Lance's if they had the proper pokemon. Whatever your pokes were, and level wise, try using them against Lance. Just to clarify, what level were they? If they were higher than Cynthia's then your comment has no relevance.

@@boombooomz They were meant to be the last games in the series at the time of their creation, so it's no surprise that they'd include the original game's areas as a gesture of respect for their fans. I know I was sure as hell surprised at redoing the Kanto run as a little brat, helped tie everything up nicely.

Gen 2's music is superior on all fronts. Dynamic tracks from one-another and within themselves. The serenity of National Park and New Bark Town to the intensity of the battle themes to the badass pieces they used for places like the towers and caves.

Red was easy after the training you get on Mt Silver. Especially if you got Earthquake to teach his pussy ass Pikachu a lesson. Lance though… * shivers * so many Dragonites…so much Outrage…why arceus why?

The first time I faced him was utterly terrifying. My Elite 4 Killing team was completely useless. Each Pokémon he sent out was another flavor of death. I practiced for days to defeat him. Red is the real OG. The real deal.

I wonder if the player just knows if he needs to battle Red, or if Red gives him a look, because he's completely silent before and after the battle...
