Awesome tutorial! The accessibility of ACE has really come far :) Quick note on the egg hatching time, the time it takes is random because the game is actually stuck in an infinite loop trying to set the egg's initial moveset, and the way it breaks out of the loop is based on DMA timings, which can be affected by everything from a specific GBA to what music is playing to emulator accuracy etc...making it so mGBA could emulate that even sort-of correctly was something I helped with way back when all this was being discovered

I never knew there was a way to pick up multiple Pokemon in Gen 3, I thought that was introduced later. Goodness gracious, I've been making things so much harder on myself.

Now, I wasn’t paying too much attention to it, but it’s great that you’ve somewhat added multi-language support in this video since I was eyeing up those significantly cheaper Japanese copies of emerald, and was dreading the process of looking up RNG and ACE resources for it. Also, good on ya for colour coding certain aspects of the video when possible. Folks like myself very much appreciate the help in understanding what’s happening.

For ENG users, if your game is also crashing everytime you trying to make your dot a stable dekamark and you don’t know why, maybe it’s because of the box 8 nomination, its a L instead of 1 (in the video it looks like the number 1, at least this is what I saw). The ARM/Thumb difference is whether the jump addresses' last bit is set or not. ARMv4T addresses are 2-aligned, so the last bit never makes a difference, and is used by the BX opcode to decide the resulting execution mode.

I'm so glad you made this! After I found out the pomeg berry glitch a long time ago I really wanted to do this with a Japanese copy of emerald to get a ""legit"" shiny mew and shiny deoxys, since those events were only ever released in Japan for pokemon emerald.

I love that the new methods open up encounters in the Safari Zone! I don't have Colosseum, but I'd always wanted to try getting a shiny Heracross in Emerald with great stats to take all the way through collecting ribbons in each game! This makes that possible for me now :D

For anyone not getting the diploma screen when executing the code using an english game, initially I was getting warped to the front door of the last pokemon center I entered, like Oldale. It was like I was being whited out but without any message saying I was. I figured I had come so far by that point I should just keep going, and then when I finally executed the Birth Island code the diploma finally showed up and the code worked just like in the video. Maybe it's not always the diploma that shows up initially, but eventually it did and I got to Birth Island. Thanks to everyone who put so, so many tireless hours into figuring this out. Simply amazing work!

Oh! If I remember right, the reason some read ARM and some read THUMB is that code at "even addresses" is interpreted as ARM code and code at "odd addresses" is interpreted as THUMB code. The last bit of the address field doesn't actually change the location of the instruction, but instead sets the instruction decoding mode. So if your ACE pokemon jumps to an odd address, it switches the CPU to thumb mode!

This is really confusing and convoluted, but also really cool! I have NO idea Gen 3 had so many glitchmons, I thought that was juSt a gen 1 and kinda gen 2 thing. I gotta learn more about these guys.

Thanks Jefe, after two days i could catch a shiny latios with perfect ivs in southern island, it was a pain getting the correct egg, also had troubles when setting the seed with ace on emulator (mGBA) it didnt show the diploma, then i tried in my gba sp and it worked, i have a spanish copy of emerald, thanks again it was fun to learn everthing!

Hi!! First of all, thanks for really going into every detail of how to do arbitrary code execution. Extremely detailed and easy to follow. I actually used your older video and I didn’t notice you commented on that with a link to this updated version. So… I cloned a bunch of the good eggs after doing the Whismur and Shuppet EV training for DOTS. I got my Old Sea Map and caught Mew. My question is, am I done in terms of getting good eggs? Like, can I just keep cloning them or would EV training have to be done over and all that fun stuff. Or, would I simply need to change the box names and then follow the proper directions for the other mystery gift items? I’m just curious if I can pick up where I basically left off. My understanding is that the way DOTS was EV trained with Whismur and Shuppet is what allowed you to execute the mystery gift items. So again, can I just change the box names then hatch another good egg? If I then wanted to basically create any Pokémon in the dex, then I would have to start with a fresh DOTS for EV training? Thank you so much!!

Used this video to nab a Shiny Southern Island Latias! Thank you! It's from a legitimate record mix from a Sapphire copy that had an Eon Ticket, too!

Tbh even this is only surface level when it comes to what current Emerald ACE allows. Instead of reseting for a frame you could have frozen the game and said frame and then all of your encounters would have been shiny 6 IV. You could also have straight up generated a pokemon with all the data you want, like using pkhex but with only the game itself You could also run a code to enable walk through wall Hell, i personally wrote a code that "heals" bad eggs, turning them back into valid pokemon Advanced Emerald ACE setups are insane

Y'know, using your ACE setup to create the perfect pokemon for further ACE has a pretty strong "wishing for infinite wishes" vibe.

going to ask for a little clarification before trying this. so from the looks of it heres the process in a nutshell for shiny hunting.. from what i understood: initial setup: 1)you get the glitch pokemon (annoying but if done correctly only has to be done once) 2)find your secret id, use ace to change secret id and get a usable box code, capture random pokemon, use ace code to go to the name guy- check sid making sure its working (also only done once from what i understand) fun part: 3)pop in some codes using ace to get back to where you encounter torchic, reset game (turn on and off/soft reset) 4)load the rng state for the desired pokemon using the portable ace pokemon, 5)after reset and then a 20 second frame perfect timing encounter or receival i guess in torchics case, the specific torchic you want will appear My question if all the above is correct: so lets say i get the glitch pokemon, pop in codes to encounter kyogre in the marine cave.. load rng state with glitch pokemon, reset game i could then encounter a perfect shiny kyogre of my choosing after the 20 second wait, and catch it just like you did for deoxys?

Just a question, with ACE being able to change all the values of a certain pokemon in a box, whats the point of encountering a 31IV shiny with RNG manip? It could just be generated with the ACE directly. Is it just for fun? Is it the easiest to ensure all aspects of the pkm data is legal since it was generated directly with encounter logic?

I've finally received my Japanese Pokémon emerald copy in the mail! Doing RNG shenanigans to figure out an SID has been great practice since I'm far less familiar with gen 3 RNG. It's been great fun as well! ACE is a long ways away from where I'm at, but I'm still excited nonetheless.

As system engineering student and former Pokemon enjoyee this is a pretty interesting way of merging both worlds, if i was a kid and i watched this i would've thought this was black magic

Is there any reason that everytime I get to the part about changing my PRNG, I always just get the frame right before the shiny? I've tried with 3 different PRNG manipulations and all 3 times it's been the frame before. For instance, I want a shiny groudon, no IVs in particular, but a minute in between attempts is a pain. I'd prefer 20 seconds or so. The target is 4302, but after doing Seed to Time I get 4301. Same with the other 2 seeds/targets I've tried. Should I use one that's impossibly far away, or am I just doing something wrong?

Great video, appreciate all the effort you put into your videos! I did have a question: At the 15:34 mark when you're viewing the glitch mon that replaces Dots, I keep getting a bad egg. I've triple checked but I'm not sure where the error could be. Is the bad egg still viable (doubt it tho) or does it need to be that question mark sprite in the PC? I'd appreciate any help :)
