That's great to hear! I'm curious...how well was Portugal represented in these games? I heard online that they were worried that they wouldn't get represented or they might get misrepresented...

But meowscarada it's based on the Iberian mascarada, a cultural celebration centered about masks with origins from all over the peninsula, which takes place on Lisboa, Portugal, so at least there's that

it's actually crazy, I want to say it was actually a bit before sword and shield came out, but I remember one day seeing an article saying that game freak had job listings for photographers and other research-type positions in spain, so seeing it come through (I'm American so I'm trusting your word on this) as an accurate representation in the game is really cool. I've always been a fan of how pokemon games constantly try to base regions off of real-world locations in some way, shape, or form

@@tinkerermelon6599 Spoilers I mean, yeah, Bill invented time travel back in GSC but that connected two specific points in time Bill created a wormhole, aka, he can only go back to that specific point Sada's/Turo's time machine is much more advanced as it can send and take PokeBalls from *any* point in time The researchers at area 0 probably took bills invention and improved upon it (Hence why you can only send pokeballs across time, just like in gens 1/2)

That 'joke'/'Reference' to HM's only exists in english. In japanese Herba Mystica is called "秘伝スパイス" or Secret Spice. Hidden Machines in Japanese is "ひでんマシン" or Secret Machine. See how the secret is the same in both? It's not an appriviation pun because those don't translate well in japanese.

The reference is still there in Spanish. They're called Especias Ocultas(Hidden Spices), and HMs are Máquina Oculta(Hidden Machine).

@@esrohm6460 “Hiden (秘伝)” is an actual Japanese word which means secret. The two kanji means secret and legend respectively, commonly used in the form of himitsu (秘密) and densetsu (伝説). So by pure linguistic coincidence, “Hiden” is able to be translated into “Hidden” in English Pokeverse and continue to make sense. Then it takes even more coincidence and translation genius to get the Spanish “Herba Mystica” which matches the English Hidden Machine. In Japanese, there’s no coincidence, they’re just both called Hiden because they’re “secret machine” and “secret spice”.

@@stonalisa3729 One member was mortally wounded, not the whole team. Also Heath's team were the ones who succeeded, not a failed expedition. Lastly, to clarify, I said they "didn't all die" not that nobody ever died exploring Area Zero.

@@Ryodraco well I doubt the majority of explorers besides heaths group had pokemon because most people didnt have pokemon at the time of legends so might not even had pokeballs also most of them probaly died of old age. I say probaly because one could have time traveled or turned out to be immortal

As a spaniard, it has way more references than I thought it would have. The thing is, they're subtle and most people won't get them For example, just on the smoliv town, they reference spanish oil, spanish landscape, and a famous spanish tv show, "grand prix" In the psychic type town, the whole arquitecture reminded me of Cordoba, a city that even today still has classical musslim buildings built centuries ago like "La mezquita", a national monument. Not only that, but all the cities have the distinct yellow cylinder that is the spanish mail box, among other details As I said, it has references, and by the way, if you play in spanish they multiply, since the people in charge of the localization added coloquialisms, regional dialects, and even referenced how there's another language on the north by making people on the ghost type city talk with phonemes from that language. You can even find an npc singin the spanish pokemon opening song

Performance and graphical glitches on online

It's just review bombing, and as people are playing the game and giving it real ratings is going up. The other day, I checked it up and was a few points higher

Honestly though, overworked, exhausted and deliberately boring people exist everywhere, in all countries. lol It’s not just a Japanese thing, it’s frankly a fact of life for many people that living “against the grain” isn’t always actually the goal. Just getting by is. I think that’s actually why so many people got immediately attached to Larry: he speaks to those of us with adult lives/responsibilities/everyday trauma to contend with. He is the single most relateable character to many people. Real talk (and not directed at you specifically, just while I am on the train of thought anyway), it’s one of the reasons why the incessant toxicity online has gotten so tiresome for me… I have enough real crap to deal with, I just want to be able to, you know, enjoy my preferred media. Too bad there are a bunch of people who apparently have no real life issues so they feel the need to over-dramatize things where we should be able to just chill and have fun… Oh well. People will be people, I guess.
