Online poker legend Dan Cates ‘Jungleman’ goes heads-up against seasoned poker veteran Josh Arieh. Can Arieh secure the Leprechaun's pot of gold?
It’s the epic Game of Gold finale produced by GGPoker! Dan Cates, Fedor Holz, Yoh Viral, Kyna England, and Maria Ho are battling it out for the $456,000 first prize in a winner takes all Sit & Go. Who will be crowned the Game of Gold champion?
When you have a draw and think your opponent is capable of bluffing the flop, turn, and river then check-raising all-in on the flop and the turn becomes a much better option than check-calling.
Dan Cates also known as Jungleman is a 33 year old from the USA and is regarded by many as one of the best poker players in the world both online and live. He has played in all the high stakes poker cash games around the world for many years. He has over $12,000,000 in live tournament earnings putting him in the top 80 on the all time money list. He famously won the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 Players Championships (regarded as one of the hardest poker tournaments to win) in 2021 and again in 2022.
Josh Arieh is a professional poker player from America. He has over $12,000,000 in live tournament earnings, putting him in the top 100 on the all-time money list. He has 6 WSOP bracelets and finished 3rd the 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event.
Filmed in Seoul, South Korea and hosted by experienced poker broadcaster Ali Nejad, Game of Gold combines high stakes poker with survival reality TV. Over the course of the 12 episodes, the sixteen participants competed across various poker formats, including Sit & Go and Heads-Up games, Indian Poker and a standard tournament poker game.
The participants included Daniel Negreanu “KidPoker”, Jason Koon, Fedor Holz “CrownUpGuy”, Kevin Martin, Kyna England, Josh Arieh, Daniel Cates “Jungleman”, Lukas Robinson “RobinPoker”, Nikita Luther, Charlie Carrel “Epiphany77”, Johan Guilbert “YoH ViraL”, Olga Iermolcheva, David Williams, Andy Tsai “Andy Stacks”, Michael Soyza, and Maria Ho.
The final six players competed in a winner-take-all format SNG. This was unique as it meant there was no ICM (Independent Chip Model) pressure on any of the poker players.
Game of Gold Results
1st: Maria Ho - U.S.A - $456,000
2nd: Daniel Cates ‘Jungleman’ - U.S.A - $0
3rd: Johan Guilbert ‘Yoh Viral’ - France - $0
4th: Fedor Holz ’CrownUpGuy’ - Germany - $0
5th: Kyna England - U.S.A - $0
6th Josh Arieh - U.S.A - $0
🔍 Pre-flop:
Josh Arieh is in the lojack with J9 of spades and min-raises to 80,000. It folds around to Dan Cates in the big blind who makes the call with A8 of clubs.
💸 Flop - Jc 7h 5d
On the flop, Cates opts to check to the aggressor. Arieh fires out a continuation bet of 80,000 with his top pair. Unfazed, Cates makes the call with ace-high and a backdoor flush draw.
💣 Turn - 2c
A second club on the turn gives Cates the nut flush draw and once more he checks. Arieh, still with top pair continues to be the aggressor in the hand and fires out a second barrel to the tune of 200,000. Cates, now with the nut flush draw puts in another call.
🌊 River - 6c
The river brings in the third club which now gives Cates the nut flush. He has to decide how to extract maximum value from Arieh. But what will the online poker heads-up specialist do? Check or bet? Watch this poker video to find out!

horrible jam. he blocks 99 that might call him. anything else is now a flush, a straight or 2 pair. and ofc top pair better kicker. he essentially wants to get called by TT or 88. its not like he has an image that A high would call him down 3 streets of value

Yes, not a good spot... He's calling with something, a better jack, 2 pair? I think I'd like a flop jam better than the river jam...Josh is short stacked, hit top pair... Just shove...

I probably just make a default check on the river. When I'm in a tournament I'm playing for 1st and not worrying about moving up. So in regular tournament I try to play more aggressive and gamble a little more. So in a winner take all, I think you want to be as aggressive as possible. Maybe Josh was in a certain mindset vs playing G.T.O.

agreed, he does that sometimes. i get that he's trying to get the most viewers, to get the most to subscribe to his very good site. but here, arieh doesn't do anything such to arrive at this title being at all accurate. the hand analysis like per usual by j.little is quite good, stick to that stuff, even if it might lose you a little bit of money.

keep doing what you do too, winning major events certainly will help bring in money to your site for instance. even more so stuff like that pokergo cup event where 4/6 of the players left were all from your site (brewer, j.little, saliba, and i think a.zonobian (probably bad spelling there), with the only 2 players shown at that final table footage not associated with your site: negreanu/chino rheem)

So to clarify: In Cates' shoes the 20BB chart is relevant because that's the effective stack we're playing for, even though he himself has a much bigger stack - correct?
@catbuikhang6482
@catbuikhang6482 6 ай бұрын
Yes, because Josh only has 20BB, so the most you can risk/gain is just 20BB therefore Jonathan is using that stack size for the chart, the pot-to-stack ratio, implied odds, fold equity, etc... are all applied just based on a maximum of 40bb pot. However, in my own personal opinion, though that is accurate in terms of math, the psychological side of the game might not be, let's say that you have 50 BBs compared to having just 20 BBs, the later can cost your tournament run to end while the first, even if you lose full stack, yield much lesser significance, therefore your betting/calling range might be wider due to, not math, but your psychological state/mindset

At my local 1-3 game. I'm on the button with 7/10 off. I limp in. Flop comes 7-3-Q two spades. 3 players check and I bet $10. Everyone calls. Turn is an off suit 10 making 2 pair for me. Everyone checks to me. I make it $20. Everyone calls. River card is a 4 of spades making possible flush and straight. They all check to me. I value bet $25 and the small blind jams over $140. What should I have done with 2 pair? I called him not thinking a flush or a straight is in his hands and he turns over a set of 3s he was slow playing since the flop. What should I have done? Check the river? Fold to the jam?

This is a terrible spot to bet. You dont want a fold because youre not folding out better, you dont really want many calls because most of what you beat folds, and facing a raise villain becomes so polarized you might have to call off way too much. I guess shoving might be the best size if you do bet because you might get a couple of profitable folds and don't get bluff raised? Still no good, though.

@@jessefiorillo5694my thoughts on this as well. Definitely not a jam, if there was a jam it was turn. At least then you are likely getting your money in ahead. Especially against jungleman who plays OOP extremely well, possibly better than IP. Better to check back, lose whatever you lost or win whatever you win and move on. I am not super familiar with tournament play, but in cash games, OOP against a good player, I would check raise or check jam the river.
