Everybody commenting on this is missing one big point if this was an alleged Russian missile how did it manage to travel all across Ukraine to enter Poland without being shot down by the Ukraine air defence which in the past has always shot down every missile so far - according to Zelensky and the fantastic US provided systems ???

A test case to Poland's military capability?

Poland has been providing base for NATO since the war broke out in Ukraine. Most of the Weapons used by Ukraine against the Russian forces were flown in from Poland. They should not be expecting a peaceful night rest while serious fighting is ongoing in Ukraine.

Most missiles can be easily intercepted with good air defence equipment. One missile technology that can not is hypersonic gliding missile. Beside Ukraine bragging they shot one Pentagon clearly stated " We can see their launch, we do not see their flight path" . You can not shoot what you can not see. The only country who is armed with his technology is "Gas Station" east of Poland.

Zelensky just confessed that it failed to destroy Russias supersonic missiles. Now Russia may have used hypersonic or supersonic missiles that changed directions to hit Ukraine direction, utilising Polands air space. Interesting

Poland is not at war with Russia therefore they can't just shoot down anything that enters their airspace. Peace-time procedures require an eye confirmation, meaning that a fighter pilot has to visually confirm that it's the foreign object entering airspace without permission and only then can they engage it.

Well, good click bait, but did not help understanding... Using Wikipedia as a source, and I know that is not perfect information... A Kinzal rocket (if anyone has definite information concerning which missile flew through Polish air space, we can get missile characteristics for that missile and use them) flies at 3,400 Meters/Second at maximum speed. Some Russian missiles are programable to fly irregular flight patterns to confuse air defense as to where the missile is actually going, and therefore the best way to target and intercept them. Suppose you wanted to hit a target behind Patriot battery "A", it might be easier to program your missile to fly through a hole in the air defense quite far from battery "A" and then attack from the rear. So, a missile swerving over Polish airspace while heading toward a target in Ukraine is possible. Again, we need to know which missile we are speaking of to be able to double check flight characteristics. Russia would be allowed to fly missiles over it's own territory, and Belarus doesn't count as Lilushenko is on Putin's side. Russia is (supposedly) not allowed to violate Polish/NATO/neutral airspace. Next question, how far did the missile fly through Polish airspace, or looked at another way, how many seconds/minutes was it in Polish air space? let's say that a Kinzal missile flew 300 KM through Polish airspace. That equals out to 88.24 seconds to react while the missile was over Poland. So, in less than a minute and a half: the system operator has to react; probably has to get permission from the battery commander; who probably has to call someone higher in the military/political chain, and get approval to shoot down the missile... At this point, I believe that NATO is trying hard to stay out of the war, so the authority to shoot down a Russian missile is probably not given to a lower level... therefore, the delays are greater, and in the minute and a half... the target was gone. This time.

a missile that enters the PL airspace, maoeuvers, then turns back is a very strange missile. The best explanation is that PL army is just lying, sending a message to Russia that they won't hesitate to accuse it of airspace violation ... and possibly retaliation ... and possibly an open conflict. this and more money for AA radars... Patriot air defence system always fail 97% of the time, it failed in Saud Arabia aginist Hauthi drones, it failed against Iranian missiles on US airbase in Iraq, it failed in Ukraine and now in Poland. What a waste of time and resources.

Very strange! According to this video the missile started from Ukrainian territory - "Despite turning back into Ukrainian airspace..." - , flew over Poland and returned to Ukraine. One look at the map shows that it is highly unlikely that it came from Russia or Belarus. "turning back into Ukrainian airspace" says that it flew over Ukraine before entering Polish airspace. So Russia now has boomerang missiles or what? No, of course not! To me it seems that NATO want to engage directly in a war with Russia. The US would like that very much as long as nukes are not used because the US is far away. So, please, think about a bigger picture here.

The problem is that Polland invested millions to expensive and ineffective western air defense systems,and they probably donated their soviet era systems to Ukraine early.In Ukraine it was seen that western defense systems fail to intercept properly Russian missiles, they fall seriously behind even S-300 system that was made at 70's.Patriots uslessness was proven much early in previous years at the conflicts in the middle east,but other systems like NASAMS or Iris-t also failed to perform.

Astonishing aspect of this account is that just about everyone remained calm and quiet. No Elensky to demand Article 5 this time around. Poland pretty much knows the jig is up finally.

Meh... as Polish person all I can say is that - you've got systems wrong, Kobuz is a goddamn RCWS with machine gun and is not in service, it's meant to shoot at people not into sky. Poland doesn't operatate NASAMS either. Technically we also don't Operate Sky Sabre - though the resulting system Narew is based around British launcher and missiles used in Sky Sabre (radars are different though). Also, most of these systems are in pitful numbers since stuff is only being delivered slowly. So most of it is not operational yet, only able to defend some cities, not even all of them. For VShorard, Pilica (ZUR-2-23 mm with digital fire control, and two manpads) and manpads missiles are used. What matters to me is that missile was spotted, tracked, and air force was dispatched. Points regarding "it was a test", or "it was a message" are totally mute. Since flying into airspace for 40 km with a low observable missile does not really test or show anything overly significant. Overall Polish air defense planned infrastructure is... around 10-20% complete at the moment. Most of legacy stuff was handed over to Ukraine.

The Polish defence personal was very frank about this incident and did confirm that the missile made such maneuvers that it was not possible for their air defence system to take it down. This itself is a very strong statement coming from a NATO ally. The Russians not only have a supersonic/hypersonic cruise missile but have gone ahead and improved it further to make sure its always a 100% hit. I think Russia is no.1 in terms of air defence, while US is no. 1 as an overall defence unit. So if a missile can give hard time to Russian air defense's then it cannot be stopped by any other air defence system in the world.
