Christine I'm not sure if you noticed this heartbreaking detail, but when Livvy and Kit are talking about the clock she tells him about this tale that every time the clock chimes the hour the gates of heaven open and then the book ends with "the golden clock began to chime the hour" UGH I'M CRYING LIVVY JUST AH

Spoiler I don't think Annabelle had a plan to kill anyone. She's mentally unstable, and the tension in that room just reached breaking point for her. The King found a way to kidnap her because she'd threatened to reveal his true name.

She could always look that way (& her courtroom as well) due to concern over her son's captivity in the Unseelie Court. Christina even mentions that the Seelie Throneroom's appearance & state reflect the mood/state of the monarch. It's implied between the Seelie Queen mentioning that she wants the Black Book to retrieve a Seelie Court member very dear/important to her from the Unseelie Court, & the Seelie Prince's asking if his mother sent Drusilla that they have a caring relationship. Well, at least one in which the Seelie Queen (and by extension her mood throne room) might seem very off if her child was in the custody of her monarchical rival.

And Julian as definitely shady AF and I'm scared of what he will do with the photos he took of the Black Volume while Annabelle was talking, completely oblivious to the existence of cameras and cellphones. I don't actually think it's Tessa; remember how when she Changed into him, she didn't have any control over herself? And he acted like he knew Hypatia Vex, which means Tessa would have Changed into him many times before that and taken part in the Shadow Market. I think it's actually the real John Shade. Hypatia Vex (I think it was her) said herself not to count on anyone being dead, especially if they were a warlock. There's also the slight possibility that it isn't John Shade (or anyone impersonating him) at all. He tells Kit, Ty, and Livvy that Shade isn't his last name. (Obviously, he could be lying. But who knows??)

I really hope what Livvy said to Kit was true about the golden clock and its legend: that Haeven opens since Julian is wishing for his sister to come back and I am gonna do the distructive stupid human thing and hope that death is indeed not final and because she was struck with the broken part of the MORTAL sword which was oozing balck stuff it has some deeper meaning

My favourite parts in this book were definitely the parts with Kit, Ty and Livvy. They just fit together so well and they had some really funny scenes and I love their dynamic WHY DID LIVVY DIE KEBAKAVSJ

Oh no, no, no, no, no, no! Sebastian needs to stay dead. But if he does come back, the evil part of him is gone, right? Because Clary destroyed that when she stabbed him. So if he comes back, would his evilness come back? Or would he be good? Also I hope Clary doesn't die. Jace and her finally have happiness! Sebastian needs to STAY DEAD lol.

I understand your point about Julian, and I agree about him being a little dark, but I wouldn't necessarily say that he's "slightly evil." I mean, the kid has been in charge of his family since he was 12. He had no choice but to kill his dad (sort of) when he was young. I think that his decision about Arthur was completely motivated by his new responsibility to his siblings and his refusal to lose the Institute. I agree about Julian being the real Lord of Shadows though. I think it's impossible for Julian's history to be what it is and NOT have him grow up with a bit of hurt and shadow in him. I don't think he's "evil" in the slightest though

I want Isabelle and Simon to take over the LA institute (maybe more so Isabelle since Simon is a Recruiter) since the Clave kind of owes them a few favours and they have to be more popular than Horace Dearborn. Also, why weren't Sizzy at that meeting?! CC has said that they play a significant role in Queen of Air and Darkness, so what was so important that they missed the meeting that was supposed to determine the fate of Downworlders (which Simon used to be!)?

My theory is (!!LoS Spoilers!!) I think that Julian kills Annabel to bring back Livvy.. I stick to that hope like crazy. It was so sad for Ty because in the book was a line where it said that Ty was ready to become Parabatai with Livvy 😰😰😰.. So scared for everything and everyone 😱😳😱😵 I also realized that Clary is the aunt of Ash (Seelie Queen& Sebastian child) if that is true, which I'm pretty sure.. Love this video 😘

aaa love this, I just finished Lord of Shadows yesterday, but there was one thing you said, Kit and Ty being Parabatai? I know it was hinted at at the start but Kit's feelings for Ty have definitely evolved/grown from there, and there are many things that I think hint at them having a not very Parabatai like relationship if you catch my drift. Like that wasn't a very platonic hug for me. For instance, the whole thing about Kit feeling not comfortable with kissing Livvy again and having intense feelings for Ty. I also cannot forget to mention Kit wanting to wrap his arms around Ty again. Idk maybe just wishful thinking though. Great booktalk!!!!

But surely, though, that's the whole reason why they might become parabatai! Because it's evidently such a bad idea -- they're clearly headed for a romantic relationship, not a platonic one. Although subtext at the moment, we know, however, that this will not be canonical anytime soon (as this is clearly what TWP is going to centre around); but it's Kit and Ty's lack of self-knowledge/self-awareness (especially with Ty) about their own feelings that will lead them into a very misguided parabatai relationship. And hence history repeats itself! Given, also, all these hints about how well they work together as a team (Sherlock & Watson analogies), and that Livvy has died, I think Ty is going to want to someone to cling onto even more (perhaps even be as close to as he was with Livvy?) I would be surprised if it didn't happen.

DomReads Yes, I was also thinking that, honestly we know that Ty will be clueless about his feelings probably but we've already seen how Kit can be. He's literally like hmmm what should I call this intense feeling that makes me want to kill anyone who hurts Ty? What should I call this feeling that makes me want to wrap my arms around him? I know friendship!!!1! Honestly it could be Jules and Emma all over again. However I doubt Ty would want to be Kit's parabati because he was already feeling guilty for not being Livvy's parabati when she was injured, I think he would feel as if he were betraying her by becoming Kits parabati, but I still think Ty will cling to him none the less. Who knows though, Ty might feel like Kit will go the same way as Livvy if he doesn't have a Parabati?

Julia Arnold yeah Percy is definitely more sassy! I think Percy is going to be in the next Magnus Chase book if Annabeth is going to introduce him to Magnus & will probably return in the Apollo series, just not as a main character. He's probably too tired to do much more questing! Haha

There was this one thing that in the first book when Livvy was saying to ty to become parabatai and gave the example of Jem and Will and how Will put his hands in fire to save last of the drug. Then ty replied with an example of Watson and Sherlock how they cared for each other without being parabatai and how Watson took a gunshot for Sherlock. Then in the lord of shadows ty asked kit to be his partner in solving mysteries and kit said that the reason ty was sleeping outside his door was because ty wanted a Watson to his Sherlock which then later on resulted to be so. It made me think that maybe ty and kit would decide to be parabatai in the next book.

when I first read this book (I just finished a re-read) I was listening to it via audiobook while driving and I did not see Livvy's death coming at all...as a matter of fact I was so shocked that I violently gasped and slammed on the breaks of my car 👀 thankfully I was in an empty parking lot- but ya I was completely caught off guard 😭

Oh haha I didn't notice! I was so surprised in this book bc there was a huge fish tattoo right on her face and I hadn't imagined her that way at all. This might be a stretch, but maybe the fish dying was symbolic of Diana dying, not Magnus? Though there were a lot of other little things that seemed to be foreshadowing Magnus's death ahhh I'm so scared I really don't want more ppl to die especially not Magnus

In the book they talk a lot about thorns and roses and stuff. They're called the Blackthorns, Jules's drawing of the Sleeping Beauty castle with all the thorns, in Faerie, Jules gets called son of thorns a lot. Also seeing Jules and Emma's relationship, you can see why roses would make sense, because their relationship is seen as so beautiful in the moment and later they ind the thorns (or something like that). Maybe there's a reason why the Blackthorns have the name of Blackthorn. And we still don't have a clear reason for Jules paiting Sleeping Beauty on his wall, right? Also there's this thing with the sea, that has been a huge part. Emma being scared of it, because of her parents and Jules (and the other Blackthorn kids?) loving it, because it reminds them of home and sea demons and stuff being present. Lastly, there's Thule, which was mentioned a couple times in the book. The poem in the beginning of course, but also one of the Seven says something about it..? Thoughts about all this?

CHRISTINE CHRISTINE THIS IS IMPORTANT! The Seelie queen wants the Black Volume because she wants to raise Sebastian/Jonathan back from the dead. Remember how in Lord Of Shadows Malcom needed Blackthorn blood to raise Annabelle? The Seelie Queen needs Fairchild blood to raise Sebastian. That's why Clary thinks she's going to die soon. ALSOOO Ash is 13 because I think it must be that time slows down in the Seelie realms but speeds up in the Un-Seelie realms MAYBE

I read all of the books (yes, Queen of Air and Darkness too) between the ages of 11 and twelve, have them all, and I started reading them when I was in sixth. I am now in 7th and still love it all. Sometimes I draw runes on myself and flip up my hood and scream "Shadowhunters unite!" at no one. Love ya Christine!
