This was a great interview with Mr. Kasparov. He knows Russia and Putin very well. NATO and the US must not fail Ukraine so close to victory and a final end to constant Russian aggression in eastern Europe and the Baltics.

I have listened to dozens of interviews with experts over the past 1 year and 109 days. And Mr. Kasparov is one of the few who tells it like it is...

This is a wonderful interview - the man that I thought of as a giant in the game of chess only, proves to be a clear sighted commentator of things Russian. I believe that his understanding and recommendations about the war in Ukraine are very important and needs to be taken on board by the collective west in order to bring greater peace to the planet. It's difficult to see how Russia quits the war, or backs down. It's also difficult to see how they win. That leaves the Russian Leadership with very few alternatives other than keep spending money and lives until the Russian Federation implodes from lack of money, like the USSR, or from a military uprising, like the Russian Revolution.

Great interview with Garry TVP...this chess champion has all the right moves and understands the soviet times, Putin, previous wars and failures of this the Russian Federation and put everything into context and in a nutshell explained as has retired General Ben Hodges the same scenario and outcome that when the Crimea Penninsula is taken that will be the end of the war and thr start of a new Russia 🇷🇺 broken up into states....the taking of Crimea by Ukraine 🇺🇦 will kick-start their economy and move the black Sea fleet out of the black Sea so that trade form the Sea of Azov resumes and with it freedom security from Russian domination and will put to bed any future claims to Ukraine 🇺🇦 or other countries by the Russian Federation as it now is...

Wow! One of the great minds of our times. Listen and take note of what he says. He knows Russia, the Russian people and the Russian mindset, inside and out. The collective West should use his unique talents, because he is a rare beast.

I believe China will forego any moves on Taiwan for the time being and basically wait out for their opportunity for territory in Russia. That will be a much bigger prize. But it's not even as much about that, it's doable, they need the resources, and it's in line with their long term goals. They could eventually actually become an “Arctic power” and the long term play would be to control the shipping lanes. Yes, I know how far out and off this may seem/sound, but it's not. The thing is, most of the places that would be in their sights, they're very wary of China even if they're their neighbor and do business with them. All the surrounding countries are wary of China.

Perfect description of the Russian, the “zombie mind”. To have Kasparov as President would be Heaven. The parade of Russian heads of state is so depressing but I guess a reflection of the Russian people, my dear ancestors.

Excellent presentation. Gary has an astute viewpoint of modern day Russia and the concept of “Empire” that White Russians feel. I am thinking now about historical differences between the Russian concept of Empire versus the British Empire. In the case of Britain, they had three great colonies after 1800….India, Canada, and South Africa….plus several other minor ones in the Caribbean, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. They gave these colonies their independence in a relatively peaceful turnover. Why is that? Three reasons come to mind…1.) Britain had a strong history of private business and a strong middle class with democratic values…2.) none of their colonies were physically attached to Britain (except for Ireland)…and 3.) Britain did not possess enough manpower to control a Hugh empire that did not wish to be controlled. In the case of Russia…all these outlying ethnic territories (oblasts) were physically attached to White Russia. I therefore can see why they would consider them to be part of Russia….and under their central and military control. In the case of America…we had a history of granting our overseas territories their independence (Philippines) or making them a territory with large amounts of self governance or statehood (ie. Guam, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska, etc.). However, when a significant part of the US tried to break off (ie. the Confederate States)…a violent Civil War broke out. It was the same in Great Britain over Ireland. Physically joined regions are considered part of the whole….and will be fought over to be kept as part of the country. This concept was dominant in the world until WW2 ended. That’s when Self Determination took hold in the West and former colonies became independent nations. This process was delayed in Russia because of the Soviet (Moscow) domination of all its regions…including Ukraine. With the fall of Communism in 1991…this process is now ongoing in the old Soviet Union. For ethnic, geographical, religious, economic, and cultural reasons….several regions have chosen to become independent countries (Ukraine, Baltic States, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, etc.) Several areas in the east are in the process of desiring their independence from Moscow rule. This process is not going to stop. I agree with Gary that it will take a defeat (ie. Ukrainian victory) to shock the “European” Russian state into giving up its concept of Empire. Because…like Great Britain…White Russia (Moscow) just doesn’t have the economic, military, or manpower…to keep all these regions subjugated. Putin made a terrible mistake when he tried to double down on invading Crimea in 2014…by now trying to grab the rest of Ukraine. This year of war has shown the rest of the world…that this vaunted threat of the Russian armed forces…is largely a myth except for nuclear weapons. Russia needs Western technology and trade to grow as a nation. Without it…they are little more than a third world nation with delusions of grandeur. With all their land and natural resources…their GNP is less than that of Belgium and the Netherlands combined. It is certainly not enough economic and military might ….to forcibly regain the post WW2 “Empire”. They are going to have to learn a new way of governing themselves…cause the old shit isn’t working. It’s not NATO they should worry about….IT IS THEMSELVES.

Another cracking interview. So pleased to have found them. Yes there are STILL very wobbly elements within the "West" support of Ukraine. How can ANY person in the "Western alliance" NOT realise that Ukraine is dying and fighting for us ALL in the free world. (as for Hungary - there are no words sufficient) -- And if the wobblers and the nay sayers are not squashed flat every single time they raise doubts about supporting Ukraine, Ukraine will not win against the evil bully. Where is the backbone?

This was the best interview on Russia’s future. Gary Kasparov is spot on virtual for every point. As I posted many times previously, Ukrainians are fighting WW3 versus Russia as a defacto NATO ally. The 1 area I disagree with Gary Kasparov is what the West could have done differently in 1991. Both the US and EU sent leadership teams and money into Russia and Ukraine to ease their transitions from Communism. All that was required was the stay on a democratic path politically and be transparent in banking regulations and financial market accounting. These conditions were tolerated until they interfered with Putin’s kleptocracy culture. When RussIans protested in 2010, this is when the West started fractured between US disengagement and EU, mostly German, continued to engage economically via oil/gas pipelines. In Ukraine, the US appreciated the Orange Revolution as Ukrainians declaring independence from Russia. However, Ukraine continued as a mostly puppet state of Russia, like Belarus with democratic trappings. It was not until the Maiden Revolution in 2014 that Ukrainians actually articulated a pro-Western interest. This is when Crimea was seized by Russia. However. In 2014, the US was using mistakenly using Russia to both fight Islamic State in Syria and also help negotiate an Iranian Nuclear Deal. This did not change until 2016 when the US cancelled the Iranian Nuclear Deal and in 2018 started arming and training Ukrainians on NATO manpads. There were too many Russian spies, agents, and collaborators in Ukrainian government to send them heavy weapons until June 2022. It was at that time President Zelinsky fired 600 Ukrainian government workers known to the US as working for Russia. Then the US sent HIMARS. The West did not wrong or tardy. Even President Zelinsky did not believe US reports Russia would invade. He was wrong. In this 1 area, Gary Kasparov is wrong about 1991 aid to Russia too.

I respect Kasparov, Tolstoy, Ilya Repin, Mahler, Dostoyevsky, Gogol, Navalny,Tchaikovsky, the list goes on. Great Russians and Ukrainians all. Respect is earned.

I really appreciated the fact that Kasparov spoke openly about the differences between mentalities of the areas that were exposed to democratic principles versus the ones that were still under the spell of the Golden Horde cultural undercurrents. It is an extremely important point that often goes unspoken in convos, usually because the historian/politician is not SEEING the course of history through the eyes of Russians/ex-Soviet citizens. As he said, Russians see themselves as "European", but there's an almost unconscious drive that has been there since the original foundations of the original Rurik dynasty and hardened under the Mongol Yoke. Fascinating stuff.

Russia will have to leave Georgia, Moldova, Königsberg and all other territories they currently occupy, not just Ukraine. There will be at least 10 new countries on the map including the ones he mentioned. USA and China will compete on the East trying to take control of the huge land and resources that there are. Having Ukraine and Georgia landlocking Russia from the Black Sea by having a land border along the Black Sea would be amazing. Anyways, fun times ahead. Russia, your big payday is approaching.
