A baby polar bear is eating, playing and charming keepers at the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage. About a week ago the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service got word that a mother polar bear had been killed near Point Lay, Alaska. Wildlife officers were able to get her cub. They took him for a health evaluation and found out he's a young male about three or four months old. He weighs just a little over 18 pounds. Officers asked the Alaska Zoo to take care of him for the time being. He won't end up being a permanent resident, though, because the zoo already has two polar bears. U-S Fish and Wildlife will decide where the cub ends up.
