Beautiful! As a retired diesel mechanic, the sound of a 3 cylinder diesel engine is music to my ears

I love how the mechanics have to climb upstairs to service the engine.

I love how the valve stems leak steam Surprisingly smooth running too huge amounts or torque

Since it's a diesel, it's going to be exhaust, passing between exhaust valves and guides.

Down and dirty in a grey concrete vault. Built to deliver endless horse power and massive mountain moving torque. What it lacks in beauty it makes up for in purpose. It is a team of bull neck mechanical oxen harnessed for the single task.

I have a feeling those engineers live down in the cave with the engine

Bugger, 1910 and has some fine features, roller cams being one. There's vids on here of oil burners decades newer that are simple and ancient compared to this fine example.

I could not believe seeing an overhead cam with roller rockers on a 1910 engine. Way ahead of its time.

it's NOT a Diesel engine, it's a Steam engine.

The same type of engine as fitted in the Fram that Amundson took to the pole
@lassecarlsson31125 жыл бұрын
From the same Company "AB Diesels Motorer" but it was a 4-cylinder 2-stroke reversible engine

Valves need to be adjusted or re-seated....

IMO, more likely valve guides/seals.

Air blast injection?
@Wetboyslim6 жыл бұрын
Probably yes, you can see mechanically driven injection valve between large intake and exhaust. Three air accumulators - one for start, one for injection and another as a spare air source. But i dont see a multistage air compressor, needed for such system to work, maybe it have an separate drive from another small motor.

You can see a part of the internal 2-stage compressor close to the left of the lubricator at 3.50 min. it supplies the Engine with 40 bar fuel injection air.
