I wanted to do a review of this tough little trailer and show the kind of work I use it for. This is the follow up video a few months after this one: • Polar Mesh HDM1400... ...

As a fellow KZfaq reviewer I have to say I really appreciate this review, you did a great job. No fluff, showing it actually hauling a real load, not like flowers and 100 lbs loads. You use this trailer and put it through it's paces. Great job, great review 👍

Outstanding review. Extremely thorough and lots of time showing it in action and demonstrating what you like. You should be paid by Polar.

Thank you so much and I agree. I'd take a free tandem axle upgrade :) This really has been a great little trailer. I used it just yesterday and will be using it today to haul wood.

This is a great review, especially - as you said in the beginning - for those who cannot see it in person before purchasing. Looks like it will last a long time if you treat it good. Keep the reviews coming!

I'm glad this helped. I just applied some paint to some of the spots that were showing bate metal and it looks good as new. I'm still using this and have hauled a TON of wood. I've finished my wood, my brother's wood, a friend's wood, and I've been hauling for my neighbor.

I just got one very similar to this one , I added a 1/4 rubber mat (horse stall mat) and that made a difference in noise and save me damaging the floor even more.
@daddyrabbit8354 жыл бұрын
That is a GREAT idea. I'm going to find a mat like that. Where did you find one?

I really enjoyed your video (I'm thinking about getting one of these) and was very impressed by your operation there! I don't have any type of vehicle to pull that trailer around other than a ZeroTurn Cub Cadet. I may have to look into one of those towing buggies.

Thank you for watching this and leaving a comment. I'm STILL hauling wood with this little trailer as of yesterday (1-23-21). It's held up really well and I hauled about 100 face cord with in the past year(2020). The only issue I had was the axle separated from the tongue. I contacted Polar Mesh twice and got no response as far as warranty. My cousin can weld, so the repair took about 5 minutes after I ran it to his house. Clam / Polar Mesh needs to do better backing their product.

Great review, I'd be using it for the exact same reason. Firewood is tough on trailers.
@daddyrabbit8353 жыл бұрын
Thank you, James. This video is a few years old, but the trailer is still working fine. I did have to have the tongue welded back to axle at one point.

Thank you. I really like this trailer. I used up until Christmas until the snow got too deep for the 4 wheeler. It has performed better than I thought it would.

Now that's a Pro job reviewing that product . Makes me wanna buy one ; Only question is How much was it? Comparable products average 300-400 . My Cart would've worked if they hadn't gone cheap on the Hitch ; my hitch bent 1st time out ; this one's Done right 🤓👍 Take a piece of Flat stock and bend it and bolt it to each side to deflect saplings out of the way . Problems will be less often . Thanks again Your a "Good" neighbor to All firewood fetchers. Ty

I think I paid $400 with shipping. I'm still using this thing almost daily and it's tight as a piano wire.

Do you think the side rail is strong enough to use as a ramp to roll the really big rounds in the back?
@daddyrabbit8355 жыл бұрын
I don't think the long, side rails would hold up, but the shorter (front) one might. I used this trailer yesterday (12/20/2018) and it's still going strong. I've put some pretty heavy loads in it and I'm still impressed with how well it's held up.
@woodchuck74405 жыл бұрын
@@daddyrabbit835 thanks for your input and nice review. I am really leaning towards this trailer. Do you think a tandem would be better over rough terrain? Looks like the single axle was handling it pretty well. I live in West Virginia so pretty much every thing is on a hill
@daddyrabbit8355 жыл бұрын
This basically replaced the need for me to use a wheelbarrow. I only move wood a small distance (I have a beater pickup truck that I cram into the woods) so I saved a little money by getting the single axle. If you're going to be in really uneven terrain or hauling any kind of distance the tandem would be beneficial. One of the weaker points of this trailer is backing it up. It jack knifes constantly. Tandem wheels would reduce that.

It's a decent trailer. Aaron, I beat the crap out of it and it's still holding up. I moved wood all year, this year.

how many winters can all that wood serve.
@daddyrabbit8353 жыл бұрын
The woodshed when it's full, is one winter. I have a side pile that I'll put in the basement as well for backup (depending on how long and cold the winter is). You have to remember our winters are generally 5 months long. We had to build a fire yesterday (May 1, 2021) because the temperature dropped overnight.
@miloganze34694 жыл бұрын
bought one of these trailers for back woods atv camping on Colorado. It lasted about 1 hour into the trip before the tongue broke in half where is mounts to the axle. Total junk as is. I rebuilt the entire trailer and welded all the joints that bolt together. Lifted it and put bigger tires on it. Now it is actually usable in the real world
@daddyrabbit8354 жыл бұрын
Are you serious? You need to contact the manufacturer. I think you got a bad unit to be honest. I beat the crap out of mine. I've been using it over a year now. I haul heavy, hard wood, through all kinds trails. I will say, I don't haul it for miles, though. I use it to get out of tight spaces that my pick up can't get into. I keep a good eye on mine and most of the time expect to break, but the thing keeps on hauling and rolling. I have no affiliation with Clam or their products and if this thing was a piece of crap I would broadcast it loud and clear. Sorry you got a bad one.

It's still going strong. I had to weld the tongue after it separated and the mesh is stretching a little, but it still works great.
@normanbernier7385 жыл бұрын
why don't you take your splitter to where the wood is split it on the spot and then pick it up. You are handling the wood too many times.
@daddyrabbit8355 жыл бұрын
I think it works out the same Norman. It's handled 3 times either way. Method 1 (with splitter on site) would be: #1 Ground to splitter, #2 split wood to trailer, #3 trailer to pickup bed. Method 2 (Splitter at truck) #1 Wood to trailer, #2 trailer to splitter, #3 split wood to pick up bed. (Once I split the wood it goes straight into the back of my pickup).
