It's actually comical how few views this video has. Learning this in organic chemistry one made me feel inadequate. Your video makes me realize my professor was dog shit because this is so simple now that you've explained it. I completely understand. Thank you.

So can we think of solvation as quarantine of an ion so it DOESNT react?

I know you probably just misspoke but 18-crown-6 has 12 carbons not 18. Always love your videos, and now that I’m in Orgo not just calc classes your name is actually appropriate :D

you said that bond formation is exothermic which helps to break bond in SN1. but in 9:02 F anion surrounded by h2o and why it can not helps to break bond between KF

KF is ionic compound and ionic bonds are broken in aqueous solution . So there is no bond left in KF

In organic chemistry, there is only one rule according to me which is positive and negative joins. In the h20 molecule since o is highly electronegative, it attracts the electrons from 2 h atoms to get partial negative charge whereas the 2 h atoms get partial positive charge in return. And by being a negative ion attracts a positive charge as I stated in the first statement (ie, positive joins with negative), so it gets solvated and stabilized.

First and foremost why did you take ch3br for SN1 reaction?? Sn1 is only suitable for 2ndary and 3tiary carbon compounds!!! 6:34 you should haven’t used the term “transition state” as SN1 reactions don’t have a transition state.. it’s just an step tat will go through 2nd step
