The most appealing aspects for me on Polar Vantage series is that you can have a good estimate of your body condition/recovery status without having to wear the watch over night. Adding that to the running program makes it my go-to. Still wished sometimes to have that music/podcasts with me on long runs without having to bring my phone, but it looks like is not happening any time soon. Great overview!

Thanks for a great review! What is your impression when it comes to total daily calorie estimation on this watch? Cool watch for sure, but coming from the earlier Vantage there isn't a *ton* of new stuff. I'm honestly most exited about the weekly summary watchface and maybe the fuelwise thing. The HR spikes actually took a while on my Grit X. My initial review I stated that it was the "best HR sensor I've ever tested" and then I had to eat my words when I started getting spikes haha. They're minor, and generally the HR data is still really good. I think if you have a Grit X there's not a real huge reason to upgrade unless you find value in the premium build quality or some of the new features. Thanks for watching!

Funny you asked that question. I have a V800 and I’m sticking with it. I want a fully featured sport watch - that’s what Polar does well. I sent them feedback earlier this year on the music controls 😅 Apparently they are sticking with this software base so I doubt Polar watches will be getting much more smarts than they have now as it'll always be up to them developing it on their own and unless the company takes a massive growth leap, doubt they'll have the resources. The focus of Polar seems to be on producing maximum value on the data the watch gathers. Same on the design, guessing they are saving money on production not varying the design too much. Btw, Polar had the jump test years ago, think it required a separate sensor.
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 3 жыл бұрын
I would love to see them overhaul the user interface and launch some kind of SDK open developer platform for third party deleopers similar to Garmin Connect. But that seems like it's a bit difficult in todays climate. I agree, the Polar VV2 records TONS of data and it's a fantastic training tool. That's what Polar is good at and it seems like they're staying laser focused on that. Thanks for watching!

The V2 "feels" smaller and because the strap is kind of contoured it rides a bit sleeker on the wrist. The Vantage V2 is also a teeny bit thinner. Overall it's still a relatively large watch but it feels smaller than the numbers imply... Does that make sense? Thanks for watching!

@@ChaseTheSummit Well it's a long story, Polar Vantage V is my third Polar watch, the first RS800CX was a very good gadget and I changed it because I wanted to; then I bought myself a Polar RCX5 (the best and most expensive Polar device at the time), it was very accurate in tracking heart rate and with GPS (Polar G5) and the maps on the polarpersonaltrainer web were very good, it was simple but very good, and I completed the kit with a Polar Stride S3 + (an excellent stride sensor), then Polar decided to no longer support its web (polarpersonaltrainer) so the only solution they could give was to buy a new polar device to be able to upload our trainings on your new website "Polar Flow" (It is a very good platform by the way), this was in 2.019; Last year I made a huge effort to buy "the best Polar watch" at that time Polar Vantage V; but I found the metrics to be weird: heart rate has a lot of strange spikes, polar power sometimes loses signal and the graph shows 0 (zero) watts, and the maps on the app or the web are terrible (just running or walking), when you ride a bike they are good, so I guess it is the stroke. The design is beautiful, the construction materials are excellent, but it is a very expensive watch for those characteristics; At that time I was able to get a Garmin 945, and at this moment I regret not having done it, at this moment I cannot. Nothing guarantees that Polar will not do the same, selling an incomplete watch (quite expensive) or leaving many customers out just to sell a little more. In this case it is a quality issue.

Geez. Help me out. This or a 6x solar Titanium with the Enduro band, at 61g. This is more sleek. Can't have a shirt with the 6x. The 6x looks way better. I'm conflicted 😂

The 6X solar and Enduro are the exact same size. The only difference is a slight advantage in weight to the Enduro if you get the Titanium model. In basically all aspects the Fenix 6x has more features. The only advantage the Enduro has is in it's crazy battery life. Hope that helps!

The "other indoor" profile would probably be the best option.

After being a Polar Loop 1 then a Vantage V user, I can say that Polar lost my trust. I just ordered a Garmin Venu 2. I think the V2 is overpriced for what it offers. Yes, I agree that it’s purpose built, but I’m using my watch not just only for training. I want phone integration throughout the day and wireless payment. These are dealbreakers for me. Not to mention that Polar still not fixed a lot of annoying things for the Vantage, like the continuously upcoming fw upgrade notifications for versions that already installed months ago, saving option for the interval timers and the all or nothing phone notifications. And the list just continues.

Its a little odd why polar doesn’t do industry standard watch bands. At $500 it would warrant allowing the users the choice to choose other bands especially nylon woven bands. The running watch scene is getting interesting this year with coros and polar stepping it up

I too like industry standard bands. However, I think the molded wrap around band also contributes to the Polar VV2 "feeling" smaller than the competition like I mention in the video. Since there are no lugs protruding out from the sides of the watch the overall package feels more compact. But yeah, if you're a big band swapper... You may be thrown off by that. Thanks for watching!
