In this video, I show what happened when I tried to remove the broken axle. Spoiler alert: it was a pain!

Buy a cheap inner bearing puller from Harbor Freight, weld it to the axle cup, slide hammer. Works like a charm!

Save downtime now! Replace the seal that was exposed to the torch! I'm pretty sure it's been compromised and that looks easy to do! Just insurance for the new axles you're installing! Automotive seal removal and installation tools are widely available at a nominal cost and so helpful! Dad's advise for those who seek, and reap the reward for DIY! My new General is still undergoing break-in! We're almost at the time for the first maintenance! I'm sure after that we'll try top speed... so far 62 mph during break-in. P.S. The Wisconsin Rail Trails offer an incredible amount of travel with the General! Rent a cabin near central WI and enjoy hundreds of miles of trails suitable for ALL family members! My son and I have used the General to help pull a motor-cross bike out of a gully and a newer full size Toyota out of a situation at The Insane Cliffs Off Road Park in Marseilles Illinois. The videos of this are on KZfaq! Enjoy! God Bless!

Man, I am having the same issue on both sides. I’m about at my wits end! Gonna try the ratchet.

I know this is a year later but if you need to do it again you will want to get a slide hammer. I would also replace the seals after putting heat on it.

Great Video Ben, what was the cause of the damage?, and why the Rhino if there is really no difference in price?, reliability and performance?
@GeneralTalkWithBen4 жыл бұрын
I think what probably happened was that back in January (when I had the accident) I cracked the inner cage in the CV joint (what holds the ball bearings). When I went riding a few weeks back, the cracks finally broke through and basically grenaded the inside of the CV. As for why the Rhino-it’s that they’re built to be twice as strong as the OEM.

Is that a retainer key on spindle that was stuck? Push in to release?
@GeneralTalkWithBen4 жыл бұрын
It’s supposed to release, but it doesn’t always do so. Also, there’s ample opportunity for rust to build up there (which, I’m pretty certain, was my issue).

Ben, your this far along why not put SuperATV A arms in while your there?
@GeneralTalkWithBen5 жыл бұрын
That’s the plan. Rhino axles are made for and sold by SuperATV.
