Just my opinion on what I think of the new sleds. I 110% highly recommend getting a Matryx if you are on an Axys currently!!!

Dude, fantastic beginning. Yes you nailed it. Pushing hard in the right conditions and FIELD OF ViSION. Slowing down when the safety elements are removed. Slow people on the left side of the trail around blind left turns. Riding isn’t all about physical capabilities. It’s mental. Knowing yourself, the capabilities of the equipment, the conditions and reading the trail and interpreting the information. Those who give you grief don’t have the comprehension it takes to understand and further process the information. I’ve been saying what you did and riding as such for years. Great way in which you addressed this. I’m so happy to hear it 😊❤️🇺🇸❄️☃️🛷🔥⛺️🌄

Rick from SOUTHERN NH. I actually did my first ever sno-check of a VR1 850 137 storm 150. Coming off a 2003 pro-x 700. I haven't ridden in a couple years and we just did 90 miles in NH(between twin and pittsburg). What a machine. They just beg to be railed I 'm 38 and like many have been riding sleds and four-wheelers etc since before I could walk(as a passenger mostly of course) and have always used the entire trail when I can see. I believe it really is a safer way to ride. Keep em coming and be safe.

You are a good rider and I agree with you 100 percent. I noticed you are on the brakes all of the time. It is the drunks and inexperienced people that drive too agressive for the abilities. I came from a 2020 assault to a 2021 matryx and cant believe the difference. Way more fun. Loves to be ridden super aggressive.

Agreed 100%. always heavy on the brakes especially coming into a blind corner. just have to be smart. ride hard but be smart and in control. It is definitely the inexperienced and drunks that are the bulk of the issue. Ive seen it all before. The Matryx is amazing over the Axys i agree!!

From watching your last video I can tell you that you were ridding WELL within your limits. For people that have never raced I don't think they can read riders very well. You stayed on your side of the trail the whole time and also when you needed to change lines mid corner you were able to do it EASILY which speaks for itself! Anyone ridding over there head or even in a race you cant do this easily! I can guarantee 98 percent of the people complaing about the ridding in that video are more dangerous then skilled drivers on the trail ridding like you guys were. Anyways awesome ridding man! If you can see the other side of the corner use all the trail, but if you can't see the other side either go to the inside or the outside depending on the corner. When you've got guys you trust to ride with and ride hard like you do and I also do, there's times we might be in each other's bumpers through the corners, but we have ridden together for many years and we use the whole trail when we can and when not safe we ride right fit sure.

I don't think there would be any other choice of what she's would be better for the twisty trails and that's the Polaris, I say this because the other two are 4 strokes and heavy pigs. I talked to guy this last Thursday in the UP of Michigan and he said they are fast in the straights but pigs in the corners, and I would tend to agree that they wouldn't be as nimble in the corners as a Polaris. My two cents. Great videos also

Great video comparison talk! What were your reasons on going with the 129 VR1 versus the 137 VR1? I think they trail equally as good if not the 137 would be a little bit better. The 146 is obviously a true 50-50 crossover but a little harder to whip around on the tight twisty trails. It will still trail good but not as good as a 137 or 129. Also, have you ever ridden the huge Copenhagen loop at tug hill? It would give you some different video footage because it’s not all through the trees and the woods it’s all huge wide open fields and Meadows, tons of fields to play in and the trails are very wide, very long, you can see the trail very far away so they are flat and fast. Very pretty! I rode that twice on Monday. I have a 2018 XCR 800 136 Switchback 1.35 cobra.
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 3 жыл бұрын
I went with a 129 because i knew i was doing a big wheel kit which ends you at a 136. If i was not going to mod the sled like i did i would have a 137 for sure. I think its the best trail length sled you could own. the 146 whips better than you would think the Assaults are very impressive. I have also done the loop a few times and possibly this weekend. Hey Michael. I have been lucky to not have to deal with fouling plugs. WIth that being said i beat the ever living hell out of my sled. Where I live, we don’t have trails, much less groomed race track beautiful stuff you get to ride! But I do have a question, and I’m not a trail rider, because we don’t have trails, but I plan on renting a sled somewhere so I can go ride. My question is: I see passing traffic with a hand up, is that a signal there is more riders coming behind, or just a fellow enthusiast wave ? I come from professional auto racing and some hand signals actually mean something, hence my question. From an older guy ( 52 ), and being safety minded, I would think a special hand signal on blind corner trails, that there are others behind them, would be a good thing. On the street I use both lanes if I can see ahead in the twisty bits, so ride how you want as long as it’s safe!

Ok, I figured you might get some comments. However, to me it didn't look like you were going that fast. When we were younger and before we got into off trail riding we used to run the trails super fast. Don't do this anymore because I don't have the sled for it and quite honestly its not our type of riding anymore. Maybe its the camera but it really didn't seem that fast. I did notice that you could see a head when ever you used up the entire trail. Its all about control.
@cajun869
@cajun869 3 жыл бұрын
There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with the way you ride, as I do the exact same thing. The people that are dangerous on the trail are the ones oblivious to their surroundings. People that ride hard, have situational awareness. On another point of being dangerous, whoever thought it was a good idea to take you hand off of the bars as you pass another rider is a fool. I could care less how many people are in your group. People need to assume that someone is coming around the corner if you can't see around it. That's why I like night riding, as you get to use the whole corner for faster speeds. Now on to the real reason for my comment. You are killing me that you didn't compare the headlights. To me the Axys headlight is incredible, seems hard to beat especially since you didn't mention it. So what's your thoughts. Thanks for the time and effort and let Michigan have some of that snow.

I agree with your thoughts on the VR1. Coming from a Doo 850 with a laundry list of add on's (zollinger offset spindles, elka stage 4 shocks, Laflamme swaybar) I couldn't be happier with the VR1. Better riding position, better front suspension, 7s is awesome, motor and clutching are spot on out of the box. The only thing imo keeping this machine from being an absolute home run is the shock package. Polaris built this machine to be a groom trail weapon, not an XCR and it is just that. You can quickly exceed the operating range of the rear skid when the trail gets a little rough. I have talk to Bruce G at southside about a re-valve and Dave at Hygear about an Axis shock package. Just need to decide which direction to go. If you have Bruce re-valve your rear shocks keep us updated

Yes i think Polaris's rider positioning is light years past the gen 4. And out the box they are great i am very impressed. As for shocks i do agree. Not where they need to be. Sometime in the early 2000s people started hand signalling and I have noticed an increase of people with less control of their sleds.. it's always someone who has been going there for 3 years that act like they should be the one making the rules.. justt a rant from a old fart
