Part 2 cleaning the carb on my Polaris Ranger. It still is not running right. Cuts out randomly.

I believe I have fixed mine. I took off the stator cover and found metal shavings all over the pickup coil. Took a piece of tape and took off all the shavings and have not had the problem since. I have a video of in my Polaris Ranger 500 playlist.

That would be the intake boot. I have heard of people having a crack in the intake boot and having trouble. I would take it off and inspect it. My cutting out problem turned out to be the ignition switch was bad.

having same issue. im ordering a new "choke plunger and cable". if it solves the problem i will let you know

Our Polaris atv idles faster when the choke is on. I would check your spark plug.

Interesting, where is the air box located on your trail boss? Is it sucking hot air from exhaust or engine?

What about the intake tubes or maybe the air filter my friend had a similar problem and it ended up being the tbap wires you changed the spark plug right

If that needle was sticking, that might be your issue, but a new fuel pump never hurts.

my trail boss 325 has to same carb. i have cleaned it out several times adjusted the jet having to take it off every time to do so. new spark plug and fuel pump and i get the same result...... i can't get the full throttle response or high speed when i ride it. now when i take the top of the air box off and air filter out it will haul ass. now if i put the top back on without the filter it goes back to running bad again when i try high speed. ANY HELP,Please.

Any idea why mine would suddenly idle at a much higher rate for 30 seconds then slow down again for about a min. then quit. Now it won't start at all. The choke was out about 3/4. It was idling to warm the engine after a cold night.

The condition you found the carb in is what you get when you add shade tree mechanic with dollar store tools.

Having same issue with 2012 Ranger 400. It fills the carb. Bowl once and fuel pump turns off. it will ride for 2-3 min then cut out. If I turn the key back and forth while driving the fuel bowl will fill back up and run fine for another 2-3 min! Replaced fuel pump and have same prob. What Part of the Ignition switch went Bad?

Muvi Stick The ignition switch is one part. They don't come apart. I would try a new switch before you do anything else. I chased this problem for a long time.

What is the rubber boot called that goes between the carburator and the intake? Our ranger is acting like it's sucking air and thinking that May have a small crack in it.

i cleaned out my carb and it keeps stalling at a high throttle, my air intake boot has some minor craking by the opening to the carb would this cause a problem, and could i just use a rubber adhisive to fill the cracks, or do you suggest i get a new boot? could use help asap it would be greatly appreciated

Not sure if a cracked boot will cause stalling but if the cracks are all the way through it will suck in dirt and destroy your engine. I would get a new boot.

just a note those screws are posie screws not a #2 phlipes another reason people should not work on stuf they know nothing about

It was the ignition switch on this Ranger. It was shorting out whenever it wanted causing my cutting out problem.

@@mossman381 I have the exact same ranger. Mine is idling just fine and you can drive it slow, but when you give it too much gas it dies. Not sure what my issue is!! Started with fuel pump, now onto carb.

Are you getting to much fuel or not enough? If your spark plug is wet with fuel then you are getting to much. I would start with a fresh spark plug. air cleaner and a carb rebuild. If you are not getting enough fuel might want to check the fuel strainer in the tank. You can take a wire with a hook on the end and fish it out to look at it through the fuel tank fill. Spray it down with SeaFoam. Be careful with it and the hose. They are old. If that doesn't work might want to do a compression check.

Did you buy a new carb online? I bought a new cheap carb online one time and the main jet was to small. Had to swap out the new carb main jet with the original carb main jet. Run great then.

@@mossman381 no. I haven't bought a new carb. I just followed your videos and took apart my carb and cleaned it. First time! Thanks for the video. Next is off your gas tank vid. I'm gonna replace the fuel lines and filter. Ill also check the fuel strainer also. You da man. Lots of good stuff on your channel. I appreciate it!!!
