Hmmm, this is a cool idea, but I could have sworn I saw a puff of exhaust gas come from the engine compartment @ 7:37. hope the extra back pressure isn't trying to blow the exhaust gasket out. I think I'm going to give this a try but instead of putting it in the exhaust tip. I'll make a slip on adapter of some sort. Thanks for sharing.

I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with. I too do not want to stuff a bunch of Brillo pads down my exhaust pipe. Why not put something on the outside? My wife's car is so quiet, you can't tell it's even running.

I used to do the same thing to my Vette and my Shelby in Germany to pass German inspection. Works wonders! I just bought a 21' polaris ranger 570 and although I love it, it's much too loud. I use it for hunting so this is a must.

Good info we just bought a four-seater and yes it is louder than what you would like. The dealer talked about some other type of quieter system that you can buy but he wasn't sure how much it worked.

Go to your local junk yard and get some sound deadening material from under the hood of a car. You can cut it to size. I picked up two, one for under the bed and one under the seat. It was cheap and seems to help! Thanks Doug@jdtoys

How does that run going up hill in very difficult terrain, also is it possible to cover your tracks with something on the way down? I am working on a theory for someone. Thanks A new video with the silencer and doing just this would be GREAT Help to us. Thank you. Send the link if you can do it.

I’m not really sure what you mean, when you ask how does it run going up difficult terrain? I am positive that you will never encounter rougher terrain than what I have in my area! And I really don’t understand why you would want to cover your tracks on your way down? If your terrain is as rough as mine, you will be doing a lot of damage to the ground on your way up, which would make it harder to cover up on your way back down. I guess in theory you could get off on your way down and rake leaves and other debris back across your tracks, but if I am on my own property, or a property that I have access to legally, I would never worry about covering my tracks up. If you watch some of my other videos on my channel, you will see that I sold the Ranger about a year ago. I replaced it with a 72 V electric buggy. I have lots of video showing how the buggy does off-road, which is amazing. Thank you for subscribing

No, I sold this Ranger within weeks of making this video. I went back to a 72v lifted hunting buggy.. Once you experience a Powerful lifted offroad electric buggy, you will never be happy with a gas powered machine again!

@@lifewiththehamptons2191 WHAAAAAAT?? hmmm, well I can't knock you, I've never had an electric kart. I'm sure its just a matter of time before we see more electric UTVs running around. Though they need to make quick change battery packs imo. lol

Did this model make it quiet enough to hunt with?
@lifewiththehamptons2191
@lifewiththehamptons2191 3 жыл бұрын
Phil B short answer is no!!! It was still terribly loud when I was trying to be stealth in the woods. I have since sold the Ranger, and bought another lifted electric hunting buggy. This one is 72v. With dump bed.

You should have took and drove it a few miles to see if the engine got hotter.
@lifewiththehamptons2191
@lifewiththehamptons2191 2 жыл бұрын
I did drive it, I put 200 miles on it up mountains and at top speed. Fan kicked on at the same temperature, and cooled back down just like before. The instrument cluster is digital. It tells exactly what temp it is when the fan kicks on. 209*F , then at 192* the fan cuts off.

I don't like that mod. Restricting the exhaust is not the way to quiet down your Ranger. There is no way that can be good for the motor. Even if it can keep itself cool.
@lifewiththehamptons2191
@lifewiththehamptons2191 3 жыл бұрын
mossman381 The engine needs the correct amount of exhaust size dependent upon its exhaust valves in the head. Anything more on a stock motor is transferred as a loud noise. Anything too restrictive causes excess heat in the engine. If there isn’t excess heat in the engine, everything is fine. I’m sure it restricts some of the engine power, but not to the point of any type of damage whatsoever.

I have been putting extra baffles on all of my ATVs for 20 years because I use them to ride into hunting spots and I like things quiet! lol if I had a dollar for every time I had a buddy claim I was decreasing power or going to burn up the engine, I’d be able to quit my day job. I’ve been hauling full ElK and myself straight up the side of a mountain with additional mufflers and baffles in and I’ve never noticed a decrease in power or heat issues. Typically back pressure is better for TQ in most engines. This is why when I was a full time Polaris mechanic, we would weld a restriction ring into the exhaust of Rocky Mountain King’s along with our stage I II III kits while milling down the cylinder head to bump up compression and retarding timing 3 degrees. Back pressure is your friend if you know what you’re doing.

What performance? It’s 40hp in a 1500lbs buggy. Maybe if you used a draggy on it, it would be a little slower, maybe? But I have never tried to see how fast it was when it was stock, to compare this too!
