In todays video we did some real comparisons between the Polaris rzr turbo s and the canam x3 xrs. We looked at a few things such as, flex, width, height, ground clearance, interior finish, visibility, wheel base and im probably forgetting a few things. We will have a part 2 coming soon with more comparisons!

FYI changes to your shocks won’t affect your flex or ride height. That’s all springs and sway bar. Dynamix just allows you to change your damping, which you will only notice while driving with bumps and turns. The reason your ride heights are sticking on flat ground is because of tire scrub. If you drive around a bit it will settle to true ride height.

When you turn it on, on the screen you can see your front tires on the camera and be able to place your tires exactly where you want on the rocks. I believe its $99 and its just plug and play. One thing you guys should consider when it comes to flex and wheels touching the ground. Is with that Can-Am being longer that will make a difference. I have a 2019 Polaris turbo S 4 seat. Have nothing against can am They are both sweet machines. If you guys I want to get more flex out of your machines. you should look into halo electronica swaybar disconnects for the rear. They are a little pricey but they are sweet.

What is the rear width with the 32” rockzilla tires? How is the tread holding up on the stickies? Are the front showing more wear? Would the harder compound hold up for general use IYO? Someone told me no, looking for more opinions. Would you consider 35s over the 32s? Supposedly they make a 15” wheel version zilla, is that interesting to you, to help with rear wheel rock punctures? Maybe add a bit more clearance? Do you think 32s are a better compromise to minimize rotational weight, retain responsiveness, and maybe not tax the steering more that from people’s feedback seems already too low powered on the highest setting with the “high power” rack? The bit about the benefits with eco mode was good, thanks. And Thank You for moving away from the road noise! Appreciated, sometimes it’s difficult to make out what is said, and I am listing intently for information, and even inflection or subtleties in what you say.
@BlownBudgetOffroad
@BlownBudgetOffroad 4 жыл бұрын
I don’t know for sure but seems that the harder compound would hold up longer for normal use. But haven’t had them to really tell. We didn’t measure the rear width, but we can in the next comparison video. I don’t want 35s right now because I want to feel out the machine and find out what’s strong/weak before slapping 35s on something and really tearing the machine apart. I feel like it’s too much, I know a lot of people run them but it’s so much harder on things so for now im sticking 32s. 32s w a 15 does seem like a better choice for rock/rim clearance.
@101rotarypower
@101rotarypower 4 жыл бұрын
@@BlownBudgetOffroad Thank you, really good feedback.(Does anyone have the Harder compound and could advise on general use with 32" Zillas?) Can you see any recognizable wear bias? On screen from trying to see that detail the fronts appear to show noticeably more use? How many miles/hours would you estimate you might get out of them based on what you see so far, people seem to be telling me they are fragile and won’t be good for general use here, as they will wear too quickly... Constructive criticism (I hope?), don’t spend so much time on camera justifying why you do things a certain way or apologizing for how you are measuring or conducting your comparisons, the video looses its flow and rhythm IMO. That’s not to say ignore any feedback to make things better, just address it less on camera and as “defensively” I think you guys do a Really good job making things even and fair when you compare, this is not a lab setting, it’s real world testing and comparison. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to detail things like this, probably the best channel I have found willing to critically discuss details and comparisons like this and show the difference on camera. Please continue and expand on those details, I honestly don’t think anyone is doing that better.
@BlownBudgetOffroad

Thanks for your input man appreciate it. Although it is hard not to explain why we’re doing the things we do when every single video someone or multiple people pick it or something in it apart so it is frustrating. It’s extremely hard to completely ignore that but I can get where your coming from. And for the tires they seem to be wearing pretty even and good imo. They have 250 miles on them and seem very good still. But everyone’s miles are different, and everyone replaces tires at a different time so it’s hard to say how much I’ll get out of them because it may be different in everyone’s eyes

Gotta agree with everything said as it's all factual. I shopped the pro xp, turbo s and the can am x3 x rc turbo rr. I ended up with the can am. There are aspects from the ergonomics of each machine I liked. The seat of the pro xp was pretty sweet but the foot well seemed too narrow, the seat in the turbo s sucked but the foot well had more room for 2 foot driving etc. I do wish for the near 30k that the x3 had more tech than it does but I think the performance trade off is worth it. The sparco wheel is pretty sweet in the turbo s also. The good thing is they are all good machines with their own pros and cons.

What do you think where the most important factors that made you tip in the can am favor? I wish the can am had their own integrated alternatives to active suspension and ride command. From a few posts it may get the full color cluster, and have an app ecosystem with music and nav. And the suspension controlled from inside the cab would be very helpful, its surprising those details are not/were not standard for a long time, its a fairly simplistic electromechanical valving, the logic to control it is semi advanced, but nothing too advanced it couldn't be done on basic inexpensive hardware. I think the TurboS might be a better platform on paper, but I just like the can am more...
@DonkeyEvo
@DonkeyEvo 4 жыл бұрын
@@101rotarypower I liked the ergos in the can am a bit better, I am a bigger guy (6'1 260) and it fit me better. None of them are roomy imo. I also like the more race car layout, if that makes sense? Power was nice too, I feel like in the bolt on segment you have more options.. granted in the woods it's hard to use but when you do have the opportunity to use it, it's quite impressive. Really I have no complaint with the suspension, I am sure live valve is superior but I have yet to think "man these shocks need work". I do wish Can-Am would use a fox or other higher quality spring package from the factory as they do tend to sag it seems (mine has yet to). Plus you can do the electronically adjustable shock valve iQS setup through fox with the 3 different settings, it's not live valve but it does give you some "on the fly" options. I think the things that the can am falls short on (radius rods, lower arms, front bracing) were easier to address than some of the limitations of the Polaris, the pro xp would have likely been my second choice over the turbo s. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them.

For rock crawling and trail riding the stock X3 seats are to low. At first I thought I liked seats low but soon changed my mind. I added 2" spacers to back helped sight lines some, still not as good as RZR but acceptable. Also cut down the hard plastic seat bolsters on the outside edge of seats, makes much easier to get in and out. all in all I love my X3 RC, with 32's it's rock climbing fool. That extra flex don’t mean squat in the rocks with 3 wheel drive. Need a halo diff to get true 4 wheel in the can-am.

You must be out of the loop a little with the canams. They have a smart lok front diff with diff lock

your bumpsteer tie rods spacer are backwards.. bigger spacer should be on top and small spacer should be on bottom.

Unfortunately I noticed this from some previous comments. It made sense to me to put them the way I did and was kind of in a hurry to get the machine back together at the time and didn’t take the time to look into it. Lol I’ll fix it though

The thing I didn’t like about your interior comparisons, are that you were comparing the stock Turbo S interior to the guys “modified to his liking” X3’s interior. Hands down the Turbo S has a cleaner, more ergonomical interior! The X3 looked crowded and cheap tbh.

Nothing done was anyway “scientific” that being said, measuring a machine built for clearance and tuned for lift against a bone stock machine is very misleading. My experience I have not seen a stock rr from dealer with 15 1/2 clearance. With the modifications to the suspension and settings vs a stock Polaris the rr should out perform. Note the front right tire off the ground with rr shows it maxed it’s suspension while rzr right still on ground, don’t get crazy about rear tire off ground that’s due to length, just my thought

Good thing you have that extra 10 inches of width to keep you planted. Jeep, you disconnect. Trucks, you disconnect. I disconnected my old rzr and it was amazing offroad. Smoother ride, bigger obstacles were a lot easier. The flex was amazing.
@BlownBudgetOffroad
@BlownBudgetOffroad 4 жыл бұрын
I get the theory lol but on anything other then a rock garden type trail, the body roll is horrible and makes the whole thing unstable regardless of the width the rear travels so much it nearly wants to just fall over on a side hill 😂
