A continuation on the 1996 Polaris Ultra 680 Triple. In this part of the Ultra series. I tackle a major cosmetic piece of the sled with that being the seat.
I remove the crusty and torn Polaris seat cover and install a beautiful new seat cover and repair the damaged foam as well.
The cover was purchased from Scotty's Sled Shed in Michigan. Great product and amazing customer service.

She's a beaut! I'll be doing this on the indy trail and if it goes good I'll do the 500 :) Duct tape looks good, but just doesn't last long enough. Duct tape actually makes the same teal blue color that matches the 97 trail but it rubs off after a few good rides.

Thanks! Scottys makes a great cover. I’ve used them on 4 of my sleds and I’ve been happy with the finished product every time.

Great videos! Working on a 98 Indy Touring and have a cover on order. What would you do for a big crack across the seat foam? Doesn't seem to be missing foam as in your videos.

Thanks for watching. For the crack, I’d take some sand paper to roughen up the 2 surfaces in the event it’s dried out. Spread the foam apart, and then spray both sides with adhesive. After you sprayed it, compress the foam with a ratchet strap or something and let it sit for a day. Take the strap off and sit on it and see if it holds.

Thanks. The replacement seat cover ditched the twist locks for a Velcro seal all the way around.

🤔I am curious ; didn't see you apply the POLARIS script seat decal ...I am assuming that it is part of the hood and tunnel decal package? Originally it is stamped on the seat cover from the Polaris factory , isn't it?? ------- I loved the video! ...very easy to follow your steps.

I plan on replacing my seat cover when I get back home this weekend. I see you used a air stapler. Do you think that Inwill be able to get away with my hand stapler? The bottom almost looked like a plastic cover over plywood? Tks.

You should. Just make sure that your using the heavy duty staples. This seat was all plastic. Some of the older Indys have a plywood base.

Wow, now I see what my upholstery guy has to deal with when repairing old seats. He says they are pretty much paper thin and start to disintegrate - yup! I much prefer a repair, keep it as original as possible than replacing it altogether. Got an original restored seat for an Ultra but it'll cost ya.

Absolutely. It’s getting to the point where you find a good OEM seat it’s like you hit the lottery.

@@StreetersGarage lol!! So True!! If you want 1 good seat, you have to buy an entire sled it seems. You're lucky to find a wreck with one and most who do upholstery, won't do those old ones; due to lack of experience and level of difficulty. . Today, they use cowhide, Polaris was using bonded leather on those. Funny how even though they are cheaper-make, they are worth more than a replacement based on the fact that very few last the test of time.

Put on a dragon or pro seat and tank pro taper 7" rises bars 2014 running boards put the A-Arm kit on front fox full floats with polaris gripper skis 144 assault track and skid haha ultimate wedge update

What size were the bolts and how long that hold down the back part of the seat? Mine broke.

I believe they’re 1/4-20 or 1/4-28 about 2” long.

and what kind? the only thing I can find will squish down to it self, so it won't fill any holes.
