Great video, you explained it well. One thing I was hoping that you were going to mention is when you use polarized sunglasses with electronics like mobile phones. It can be annoying if you can't see your phone screen so well and it can be awesome if advertisement screens get blocked :D

Great video, thanks for showing the difference. I have recently had to update the lenses in my sunnies. I have been wearing polarised lenses for years as I am quite light sensitive. My optometrist recommended brown polarised lenses for those overcast glary days we get in Melbourne & then a black/grey lense for Summer, when we have those sunny days. I am wondering what the difference would be. I am not sure I can justify having 2 pairs of sunnies because of the price. Have a great day. Cheers Donna

Very informative!. But I'm wondering why some people can see the honeycomb of the polarization? Both my mom and I can see it, doesn't matter if it's sunglasses, car windows, etc. She sees a honeycomb across the whole lens or glass, I just get it in my peripherals. We both have to specifically ask for no polarization to our glasses because this honeycomb effect affects our vision (causes eyestrain and headaches) and interacts badly with most vehicle windshields. She was told it was her astigmatism, but that doesn't explain mine (never diagnosed with astigmatism).

I have a non sunglasses related question. What are the clear stringy things that can stretch across your eye? I usually jusy pull em out and they can be sooo long

I have astignatism and nistagmus in the verticle plan, some times polarised sunglasses can make it easier for me to read.

Can you do video abt castor oil? Can one put it in the eye? Sterile kind of coarse. Is it good for Blephritis? How to use it?

Interesting, is the polarization lense direction dependent on where you are in the world? All the sunglasses I’ve bought here in the US have had 45 degree polarization, or at least all the ones I’ve checked by looking at LCD screens or cross crossing with other polarized lenses.

Can you tell us about sunglasses some doctors tell it harmful to eyes even the high end brands. On the other hand some doctors say you should wear them even if it cheep one.

Polarized goggles on snow can be a major con and/or dangerous. It sounds good on paper, but snow is not a flat surface. They limit your ability to see icy patches and other aspects of snow texture. Like a flat light day all the time. Sometimes the ability to see glare is a good thing. They increase contrast, but decrease snow clarity. They make the snow look fuzzy and smooth limiting your ability to see texture and even small bumps/divots. Most are not polarized for this reason. They exist, but are not common or the norm. You’re better off with a mirror lens. Polarized lenses are good for flat surfaces, but there are risks/cons too (disappointed you didn’t mention any). Any digital screen will be difficult to see, including stoplights! They aren’t the norm yet, but if you live somewhere with the newer lights, it is difficult to tell which is lit up. You also missed the most obvious activity that most polarized glasses are made for..Fishing! Polarized lenses allow you to see into the water and actually see the fish. Pretty much every website that sells googles or sunglasses show this comparison. Was hoping for something more in depth like your other videos. It seems like this was made as an ad or promo deal.

I swore off polarized lenses after buying my first car with multiple digital displays in place of traditional instruments. The lenses made it impossible to see large swaths of the screens.

Nice comparison, but I don't think you've shown the full potential of polarized sunglasses. I have once tested a pair near some water and it was MAGIC, it went from "white glare" to "oh my god I can see the bottom perfectly". And generally I think that pair removed the glare a lot better than your camera filter. Disclaimer: I don't wear polarized sunglasses or know any specifics, just thought to share my experience.

Pilots would benefit greatly from polarized lenses too. Except they can't, because that makes displays (on every bit of vital instrumentation) very difficult to see, unless you awkwardly tilt your head. Is there anything an LCD manufacturer can do differently to make their displays compatible with polarized sunglasses?

The polarizer you are using is of poor quality. The polarizer I use in my photography have a much greater effect in my final image. Good example, poorly executed.
