To the comments calling it "not a sport" i want to see you hold your entire body sideways with only your arms on a pole or only using your legs, you can't tell me that it doesn't require a GREAT amount a strength and skill

I just started a couple of months ago. I've never enjoyed group fitness stuff, I love pole. It's giving me way more confidence in the movements of my body. Trusting that I can hold myself up and do cool things. I mess up, but those times get me fired up to improve. Gonna show this video as my defence to anyone who tells me there's something wrong about pole dancing.

I think the most educating comment in the video is (totally paraphrasing) until you walk a into a pole dancing class and experience the magic, you will really never understand. As a former instructor it is one of the most rewarding things to see a brand new student experience pole dancing for the first time. In all my years of teaching that happened 99% of the time.

A great video! Pole changed my life. I couldn’t be happier to travel the world and share my passion ❤ There are different types of classes: very athletic to very sexy. It’s like any dance: if you’re not into sexy, then don’t do sexy but maybe choose for instance ballet that is very technical and artistic. If you love to move your hips, maybe you prefer salsa or commercial dance. The same way you can choose different styles of pole and one style doesn’t define what pole is or isn’t. Many people with different jobs take pole dance lessons: teachers, lawyers, doctors, strippers. We are an inclusive community and everyone is welcome. Most of pole dancers just practice for fun like any hobby. So yes, a doctor PAYS for pole lessons or might perform in a competition because it’s FUN. This is the part that some people here seem to misunderstand. If you think pull ups count as exercising you should understand that pole is great workout! People who are into for instance calisthenics should definitively try pole for extra challenge 💪

That's what I'm aiming for! Mobility, strength, and confidence for life. Once you get your flow its muscle memory. That's stored in a whole different region in your brain. One we can't tap unless it's developed. We don't store those the same. They just come to us when we tap into theme isn't that beautiful?

Thank you for this video! I've been a poler for over 4 years now. When I was getting ready to turn 40, I wanted a new modality of exercise/dance to keep fit. (Not a gym Girl). So it was either pole or Zumba. Pole won. It's the most challenging exercise that I've ever done. I'm really proud of myself that I have consistently done it this long. Worked through the challenges of learning and doing it. (While having some health issues too). And still always growing. I'm not as advanced as some people. But I'm not trying to be a competition poler. I take what I need. That which makes me feel good and strong. I can do athletic moves now in my mid 40s that i couldn't do in my 20s. Just like life itself, pole is a journey. Blessings to all.

Yes! The freedom! That's why i love it. That's why i love dance in general. I've learned over the years that i have NVLD. And while my fine motor skills are compromised my gross motor skills are not. For me the pole adds an extra layer of achievement and fun. I was never able to do a cartwheel as a girl or even skateboard. I wanted to play soccer so bad but i would get lost and confused on the field. (Nvld lacks a normal spatial processing/ spatial awareness). But on the pole i just have fun and forget about all that! I can't get lost on the pole. I can't get lost in a bad way. Where i lose my car keys, lol. I can only get lost in a transcendental way. Its spiritual for me!💕💕 And that's why I love it 🤗

Was pole dancing a sport that moved into the clubs or an exotic club routine that became a sport? I don't know, nor do I care, I like to see people doing it and appreciate the strength, flexibility and forms they show, they could be wearing boiler suits for all I care about the flesh exposure, as if that's all I wanted there are thousands of places I can see naked or scantily clad people. Heck, look at female sprinters or field or floor athletes they aren't dressed from head to toe and are they condemned for looking 'fit?'

Yes, we sometimes lose skin or get bruised, it's part of pole dancing. Many of us also use liquid chalk or tacky products to help. Vaseline would be extremely dangerous and no one would use that to prepare for pole dancing.
@jenniferrock4763
@jenniferrock4763 4 жыл бұрын
Chafing doesn't really occur, but it will hurt your skin as you're getting started. You bruise and get red, my skin is super dry and flakes off. You just get used to it, the pain dulls as the nerves kind of die off, and you feel like a badass for overcoming the hurt. You can't use lubricant on a pole, because a lot of pole is about grip.

@Carlo Hernandez look at it this way.. would you let your little girl pole dance as a sport, knowing the origin is sexual? When she learns later on in life what it means and that you let her do it, she may feel sexually exploited. I posit that letting a child do this is a form of covert sexual abuse. My father let me do things similar that were completely innocent in my eyes full knowing it was perverse. Looking back I feel violated by own my own father. Trust me, it's sick. But that's just my opinion and my opinions seem to be at odds and unpopular with most people in the "world". You won't find anyone who pole dances agreeing with me for that would be an admission of guilt and bring them shame. Just as alcoholics seek other alcoholics to justify their behaviour assuage their own guilt (been there done that!) For people with a clear conscience and a love of what is pure and holy, the world seems to be coming against us with greater persecution daily. Stripping, pole-dancing, and hyper-sexualization of women and children is an unholy act. I'm sure Jeffrey Epstein would have loved to watch it, though. Food for thought. God bless you and I pray your essay will be excellent! 😊

This sport doesn’t mean you are not “classy”. “Classy” for one is a matter of perspective that’s not going to be the same to each individual. Also many pole dancers are former ballet dancers and gymnasts. Maybe go try a class for yourself.

Wow...you’re totally showing how myopic you’re seeing this...despite it being spelled out for you. Teachers and doctors aren’t pole dancing for money (that’s stripping...not the same thing) They are taking classes, FOR EXERCISE. Like going to a gym. THEY ARE PAYING TO DO IT, not getting paid.🙄 Oh...and I’m a medical professional looking into doing this for fun and exercise...prob going with another medical professional. So, open your mind a wee bit. False narratives, cognitive biases only limit you and keep you trapped in a vault of ignorance.
