Mato's voice is one of a kind. Almost erry and chilling at the start. Makes you think you are going to be watching a horror movie at the start. He keeps your interest throughout the game and makes all these videos enjoyable. Well done. :)

Shirov resigned because he was beaten both on the board and psychologically. He was doubtless expecting an easy win over a WGM and instead found himself in the middle of a tactical storm complete with a queen sacrifice. The fact that he managed to avoid all the traps doesn't lessen Polgar's accomplishment.

It's quite funny that Shirov has only lost this game to Judit in the g4-line (if I'm not wrong this is called the Keres Attack)! They've played 5 games with this line Judit won 1, Shirov won 2 and 2 draws! :D The game with Kasparov two month before this game ended in a draw! ;)
@swewunna
@swewunna 8 жыл бұрын
+MusikPiratat CH It is Keres attack but big difference is Black Knight has not developed to f6. g5 pawn sacrifice by Judit however was an extra ordinary move and suddenly White who has more pieces developed, more space on King side and surrounding the King all as per logic and theory become vulnerable with 2 Knights and a Bishop far away on b7.!!
@lepredator189
@lepredator189 7 жыл бұрын
Not officially the Keres attack, since it comes out of the Taimanov. Maybe a transposition, or maybe just following the same principles (e.g. Yugoslav vs English attack).

Genious ! Judit Polgar ,a woman ,had perhaps 3 balls and 3 brains to play such a game ! I imagin that great players like B.Fischer ,M.Tal, G.Kasparov and even the last champions would have sleep problems and nightmares before playing against her ! What do you think Mato and do you have other games of Polgar against those GMs ?

I think that after all that trading nonsense and moving your king to the middle of the board, it's pretty lame of Shirov to resign instead of playing it through. Judit had some really sharp moves in the game though; perhaps Shirov felt she was pushing him around the board.
