I was rushing across a train platform from one train to another once on the way to work, during the pandemic and ran over a chair/bench in the station, rather than around it. There was nobody sitting on the bench. A police officer asked me to step off the train I'd just got onto and had to take my details. Meanwhile, the train pulled away. Apparently I could have broken my neck and needed a police officer to accost me to protect me from myself. I was told that if I did it again, I'd be banned from the station (effectively a threat to my livelihood). That's my main experience of the police. I hear that even if shopkeepers detain a shoplifter, the police won't necessarily turn up to arrest.

Did they toss out all the rule books or something? How do they not know how to prioritise? Three policemen sent to investigate someone for standing on a piano stool? Are they serious? There are so many people getting away with serious things they should never be allowed to do, and standing on a piano stool becomes a police matter? The mall management couldn't have appeared to make a simple request instead? Where has common-sense gone? Surely there are still people out there with enough brain cells to work this out. I was assaulted and knocked to the ground by an unknown assailant in broad daylight. The police were called and nobody turned up. Absolute disgrace that THREE turn up for this!
