It’s more of a Curtesy. These guys face danger every day so I’m sure you’d feel a lil on edge if someone you didn’t know was digging around in their pockets. You ain’t gonna get shot if you don’t say it but it makes the cops job a lil easier and less stressful.

I don't know if it's a contributing factor for Heath or not but wearing hats (especially tight ones ) can damage your hair.. and cause the hair to be tugged on or break... Which is not good for someone trying to avoid progressive balding ... But then again excessive exposure to the sun isn't very great either xd..

ok, I get the atmosphere with police rn but like, for everyone's safety that's the smart thing to do. Explain to me how it's sad he finds it best to announce he's reaching for his I.D. rather than just reaching his hand down willy nilly. I know I know "why would he have a gun UGH just awful of them to assume" it's just a protocol that's enacted at every stop and it's sad that it is abused after proper communication is given and lethal action is still taken, but saying that it's sad he feels he has to do that is just completely ridiculous man.

He has a carry permit so when they ran his plates the cop would have known. It is good practice for those who do have a gun in the car to say this.

@@holyfishm0ly no problem. Read in another comment that he said it in the podcast. He is also from the south so I kinda assumed. I feel like I heard him say it in an older video. But yeah it is definitely always best practice to assume the cop knows you have the weapon, politely inform them of the weapon and its location, offer your permit, and always tell then what you are doing and where you are moving to. Even as a white female I worry about this kind of thing. You should always say my ID is in my purse and stuff like that.

Vivienne Allen exactly! It makes their lives (and yours!) so much easier when you do this! So many cops are so kind and honestly letting them know is the best way to get it all over with quickly and efficiently. I have my license in my phone case (so I don’t forget it) so the one time I got pulled over I let the officer know I was reaching for my phone and taking off my case cuz my license was there. It’s just better to say it!

Carly hello! In America you don’t have to actively think about it really, they know that after they ask for your license you’ll have to reach for it. Heath probs just said it cuz he has a conceal and carry license (or permit, whatever those are called) or just to be polite to the cop since they never really know what’s going to happen at traffic stops. It just helps both people chill, especially if you comply. Honestly it’s just a courtesy to cops.

I LOVE them both but that whole part upset me a little. Like what was he “calling him out” for? Doing his job? He literally admitted on camera that he didn’t stop. He probably would’ve gotten a warning if he didn’t immediately have an attitude as soon as the cop walked up to the car.

It's not the entire country, alot of smaller towns in the US are exactly like that, but this is California, more crimes, more danger,more people, besides Ireland is not even the size of some states and we have different situations with law enforcement here.

Yeah I love them both but that part upset me. The cop was just doing his job and Heath immediately had an attitude with him for it. It’d be a little different if he didn’t do anything wrong but he literally admitted to not stopping at the stop sign.
